Improved SPM tolerance and cost-effective phase-modulation duobinary transmission over 230-km standard single-mode fiber using a single Mach-Zehnder modulator

Abstract

This letter proposes and experimentally demonstrates a cost-effective phase-modulation duobinary modulation scheme for improving self-phase modulation tolerance using a single modulator. Successful transmission over 230 km of standard single-mode fiber was achieved.
