Abstract

Using kq-representation of quantum mechanics to formulate the problem of an electron moving in a periodic potential woth a slowly varying envelop.An explicit equation is derived for the first order, and the higher order terms can be obtained by systematic expansion. The kq-representation is briefly introduced in the Appendix.
