The goal of the thesis is to develop a system which is capable of learning fingering of traditional oriental wind instruments. Based on the general problems usually encountered by the instructor and learner during the learning process, the system is further developed and designed to improve the fingering learning efficiency for ten kinds of traditional oriental wind instruments. The development process of system, comparison of various components selection, system architecture and ten kinds of oriental wind instrument with different fingering are introduced and presented in this thesis work. Moreover, the questionnaire design, test results and statistics are also presented. However, the tools for assisting the learning of wind instruments are less common, not to mention that of traditional oriental wind instruments. This is because the learners of traditional oriental wind instrument are considered as minority which causes a lower market demand for its learning tool. Therefore, the thesis presents a new type of fingering learning system for traditional oriental wind instruments which aims to improve the learning process and provide more learning options for children. Eventually, the assessment of system effectiveness was made based on the objective, subjective comments and questionnaires. Most of the testers hold positive view of the developed fingering learning system for traditional oriental wind instruments. |
