Professional network is a social network focused on the interaction of business relationship rather than personal networking intended to connect friends and family. LinkedIn is a professional network service that provides a platform for seeking career opportunities, job requirement, recommendations, introductions and building relationships for getting more business opportunities. In a general scale-free network, hubs are linked with preferential attachment and growth, while in the LinkedIn professional network, the formation of a network also reveal these two characteristics, therefore considered a sort of scale-free networks. The members in LinkedIn could check each other via memberships in the professional network profile, as well as all the information of personal network, their work experience, participate in groups, and professional skills. Letters of recommendation could also be save in the personal profile. This study will propose an aggressive approach to capture LinkedIn profile on the website and explore the owner's work experience, participation in groups, professional skills, and discuss the strength of relationship between the letters of recommendation and connections which are the key elements to form a social network. This paper proposes a way to estimate a connections hub so that we can have a better understanding about the formation of professional networking connections. |
