Item type:Item, EFFECT OF DELTA-ALUMINA FIBERS ON THE AGING CHARACTERISTICS OF 2024-BASED METAL-MATRIX COMPOSITES(1995-05-01) ;CHEN, KC ;CHAO, CG ;交大名義發表 ;材料科學與工程學系National Chiao Tung UniversityThe age-hardening precipitation reaction in aluminum matrix composites reinforced with discontinuous alumina fibers was studied using the differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) technique, microhardness tests, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) observation. Composites fabricated with the 2024 alloy matrix were infiltrated through a ceramic preform using a squeeze-casting process. The alumina fibers had a considerable effect on the aging response of the matrix alloy in composites. Alumina fibers caused suppression of Guinier-Preston (GP) zone formation in composite that reduced the peak hardening during artificial aging. The suppression of GP zone formation in composites is believed to be due to the fiber-matrix interface, which acts as a sink for vacancies during quenching. Moreover, the presence of reinforcement does not alter the kinetics of the subsequent artificial aging of these Al2O3/2024Al composites.Item type:Item, EFFECT OF MAGNESIUM ON MECHANICAL-PROPERTIES OF ALUMINA-FIBER-REINFORCED ALUMINUM-MATRIX COMPOSITES FORMED BY PRESSURE INFILTRATION CASTING(1993-09-15) ;LIU, TM ;CHAO, CG ;交大名義發表 ;材料科學與工程學系National Chiao Tung UniversityAl-Al2O3 composites containing 0.48%-6.8% Mg in the matrix alloys have been fabricated by pressure infiltration casting. Optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and image analysis were used to examine and to analyze the details of the microstructure and the fracture surface. Tensile tests were utilized to evaluate the mechanical properties. The addition of magnesium was found to improve the infiltration and to decrease the porosity of the composites. The tensile strength of the composites increased with increased magnesium content, while elongation remained almost constant (10%).Item type:Item, EFFECTS OF CARBON CONTENTS ON THE TENSILE PROPERTIES AND DEFORMED MICROSTRUCTURES OF AUSTENITIC FE-28MN-9AL-XC ALLOYS(1992-11-01) ;CHOU, JS ;CHAO, CG ;機械工程學系 ;材料科學與工程學系Department of Mechanical EngineeringItem type:Item, OBSERVATIONS OF DEFORMATION TWINS IN HIGH-TEMPERATURE TENSILE TESTS OF AN FE-28.0MN-7.5A1-0.75C-ALLOY(1992-01-15) ;CHOU, JS ;CHAO, CG ;機械工程學系 ;材料科學與工程學系Department of Mechanical EngineeringItem type:Item, TENSILE PROPERTIES OF A DO3-CONTAINING FE-MN-AL-SI-C ALLOY AT ELEVATED-TEMPERATURES(1992-05-01) ;CHOU, JS ;CHAO, CG ;機械工程學系 ;材料科學與工程學系Department of Mechanical Engineering
