This transition temperature is higher than T(N) = 2.2 K for isostructural TlBa2GdCu2O7-delta. Corroborative evidence comes from calorimetric studies, in which a magnetic entropy was obtained DELTAS congruent-to 0.5 Rln 2 between 2 and 10 K, as well as a sizeable linear term in specific heat comparable to those found in heavy-fermion systems. Through structural consideration, these observations can not only be correlated to the almost identical but still puzzling features of PrBa2Cu3O7-y, but also remove some ambiguity in the interpretation of earlier results.Item type:Item, EXISTENCE OF SIMILARITY SOLUTIONS FOR SURFACE-TENSION DRIVEN FLOWS IN FLOATING RECTANGULAR CAVITIES(1993-07-01) ;CHEN, YY ;HWANG, TW ;WANG, CA ;應用數學系Department of Applied MathematicsWe consider the following problem: f''' + Q . [Af f'' - (f')2] = beta, (Q, beta is-an-element-of R, A greater-than-or-equal-to 0), f(0) = f(1) = f''(1) = f''(0) + 1 = 0, which arises from the steady surface-tension driver flows in floating rectangular cavities. In this paper, we first classify all possible solutions and obtain that the given problem can only possess, at most, three types of solutions for A greater-than-or-equal-to 1. By the classification, we further verify that for every Q greater-than-or-equal-to 0 or beta greater-than-or-equal-to 0, the problem has at least one solution if A greater-than-or-equal-to 1. Moreover, if 1 less-than-or-equal-to A less-than-or-equal-to 3/2, multiple solutions also exist for sufficiently large Q > 0.Item type:Item, EXISTENCE OF SOLUTIONS FOR BERMANS EQUATION FROM LAMINAR FLOWS IN A POROUS CHANNEL WITH SUCTION(1990) ;WANG, CA ;HWANG, TW ;CHEN, YY ;應用數學系Department of Applied MathematicsItem type:Item, MAGNETIC AND CALORIMETRIC STUDIES OF GD ORDERING IN TLBA2GDCU2O7-DELTA(1993-05-01) ;CHEN, YY ;LAI, CC ;CHIOU, BS ;HO, JCKU, HCAntiferromagnetic ordering among Gd3+ ions in the nonsuperconducting compound TiBa2GdCu2O7-delta occurs near 2.2-2.3 K as confirmed by magnetic and calorimetric measurements. This compound is similar in structure to that of superconducting GdBa2Cu3O7-y, but with the Cu-O chains replaced by Tl-O planes, which also exhibits a similar magnetic transition at 2.2-2.3 K. This paper further compares the Neel temperatures and magnetic specific-heat anomalies of various Gd-containing compounds and related systems. Some common features between the compounds are discussed.Item type:Item, MULTIPLE STEADY-STATE HORIZONTAL BUOYANCY INDUCED FLOWS IN POROUS-MEDIA SATURATED WITH COLD WATER(1989) ;CHEN, YY ;WANG, CA ;交大名義發表 ;應用數學系National Chiao Tung University
