Item type:Item, 3-D mobile display based on dual-directional light guides with a fast-switching liquid-crystal panel(2005-10-01) ;Chu, YM ;Chien, KW ;Shieh, HPD ;Chang, JMHu, AAn autostereoscopic display based on dual-directional light guides with a fast-switching liquid-crystal panel was designed and fabricated to provide better 3-D perception with image qualities comparable to that of 2-D displays. With two identical micro-grooved light guides, each with a light-controlled ability in one direction, two restricted viewing cones are formed to project pairs of parallax images to the viewer's respective eyes sequentially. Crosstalk of less than 10% located within +/- 8 degrees-+/- 30 degrees and an LC response time of 7.1 msec for a 1.8- in. LCD panel can yield acceptable 3-D perceptions at viewing distance of 5.6-23 cm. Moreover, 2-D/3-D compatibility is provided in this module.Item type:Item, Experimental study on robot visual tracking using a neural controller(1996) ;Song, KT ;Chang, JM ;交大名義發表 ;電控工程研究所National Chiao Tung UniversityVisual tracking of a moving object has been an active research topic in the field of robotics and computer vision. In this paper, an experimental study is presented on a neural control design of a robotic manipulator to track a moving object using visual information. The proposed system integrates CCD visual data into an artificial neural network (ANN) for robot arm motion control. This design strategy features fast and efficient control approach where the computation load is reduced to fit the real-time requirement. Integrated experiments have been carried out using a Mitubishi RV-M2 industrial robot equipped with a CCD camera. After training the ANN controller with experimental data, the transformation from world coordinate to the robot coordinate can be eliminated. Robot motion control can be achieved without solving inverse kinematics of the manipulator. Furthermore, the proposed visual tracking system dose not require calibration data of the camera. The factors affecting tracking performance is analyzed and discussed.Item type:Item, Molecular dynamics simulation of the enhancement of cobra cardiotoxin and E6 protein binding on mixed self-assembled monolayer molecules(2006-02-28) ;Hung, SW ;Hwang, JK ;Tseng, F ;Chang, JMChen, CCMolecular dynamics simulations are performed on n-alkinethiol self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) and their mixture on a gold surface so that the orientations of the binding of cobra cardiotoxin and E6 protein molecules can be selected using the mixing, ratio of CH3-terminated SAMs with different chain lengths. The simulations suggest that a SAM surface with different mixing ratios may provide a possible platform for aligning protein molecules with a desired orientation and for enhancing the binding energy of the protein on the designed surface.
