Item type:Item, A Facile PDMS-Assisted Crystallization for the Crystal-Engineering of C-60 Single-Crystal Organic Field-Effect Transistors(2015-08-05) ;Wu, Kuan-Yi ;Wu, Tzu-Yi ;Chang, Shu-Ting ;Hsu, Chain-ShuWang, Chien-LungItem type:Item, Cofacial Versus Coplanar Arrangement in Centrosymmetric Packing Dimers of Dipolar Small Molecules: Structural Effects on the Crystallization Behaviors and Optoelectronic Characteristics(2016-07-20) ;Chou, Shu-Hua ;Kang, Hao-Wei ;Chang, Shu-Ting ;Wu, Kuan-YiBazan, Guillermo C.Two D-pi-A-A molecules (MIDTP and TIDTP) composed of an electron-rich ditolylamino group (D) and an electron-deficient 5-dicyanovinylenylpyrimidine (A-A) fragment bridged together with indeno[1,2-b]thiophene (IDT) were synthesized. These molecules provide an opportunity to examine in-depth the impact of side-chain variations (methyl vs p-tolyl) on the crystallization behaviors, solid-state morphology, physical properties, and optoelectronic characteristics relevant for practical applications. X-ray analyses on single-crystal structures indicate that methyl-substituted MIDTP forms coplanar antiparallel dimers via C-H center dot center dot center dot S interactions and organizes into an ordered slip-staircase arrays. In contrast, p-tolyl-bearing TIDTP shows cofacial centrosymmetric dimers via pi-pi interactions and packs into a less-ordered layered structures. The X-ray diffraction analyses upon thermal treatment are consistent with a superior crystallinity of MIDTP, as compared to that of TIDTP. This difference indicates a greater propensity to organization by introduction of the smaller methyl group versus the bulkier p-tolyl group. The increased propensity for order by MIDTP facilitates the crystallization of MIDTP in both solution-processed and vacuum-deposited thin films. MIDTP forms solution-processed single-crystal arrays that deliver OFET hole mobility of 6.56 x 10(-4) cm(2) V-1 s(-1), whereas TIDTP only forms amorhpous films that gave lower hole mobility of 1.34 x 10(-5) cm(2) V-1 s(-1). MIDTP and TIDTP were utilized to serve as donors together with C-70 as acceptor in the fabrication of small-molecule organic solar cells (SMOSCs) with planar heterojunction (PHJ) or planar-mixed heterojunction (PMHJ) device architectures. OPV devices based on higher crystalline MIDTP delivered power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of 2.5% and 4.3% for PHJ and PMHJ device, respectively, which are higher than those of TIDTP-based cells. The improved PCEs of MIDTP-based devices are attributed to better hole-transport character.Item type:Item, Current-Aware Flash Scheduling for Current Capping in Solid State Disks(2020-02-01) ;Chang, Li-Pin ;Cheng, Chia-Hsiang ;Chang, Shu-Ting ;Chou, Po-Han資訊工程學系Solid state disks (SSDs) employ internal parallelism to boost their input/output (I/O) performance, but a high degree of flash parallelism inevitably consumes a high level of current. To budget power or support multiple power sources, system software may force an SSD into a new power mode that has a specific current supply limit. This paper introduces a firmware approach to optimize SSD internal parallelism subject to a current supply limit. The proposed method involves two steps. First, we constructed current models of flash operations on the basis of real-world measurement results. Second, we designed a firmware scheduler to determine the actual starting time of each flash operation. The proposed scheduler accounted for flash aging, process variation, and internal resource contention, and it avoided any current cap violation by checking a few time points instead of every unit of time. Our experimental results indicated that the proposed approach outperformed existing methods with respect to I/O response time and throughput under realistic workloads.Item type:Item, Flat-on ambipolar triphenylamine/C-60 nano-stacks formed from the self-organization of a pyramid-sphere-shaped amphiphile(2016-01-01) ;Liang, Wei-Wei ;Huang, Chi-Feng ;Wu, Kuan-Yi ;Wu, San-LienChang, Shu-TingA giant amphiphile, which is constructed with an amorphous nano-pyramid (triphenylamine, TPA) and a crystalline nano-sphere (C-60), was synthesized. Structural characterization indicates that this pyramid-sphere-shaped amphiphile (TPA-C-60) forms a solvent-induced ordered phase, in which the two constituent units self-assemble into alternating stacks of two-dimensional (2D) TPA and C-60 nanosheets. Due to the complexity of the molecular structure and the amorphous nature of the nano-pyramid, phase formation was driven by intermolecular C-60-C-60 interactions and the ordered phase could not be reformed from the TPA-C-60 melt. Oriented crystal arrays of TPA-C-60, which contain flaton TPA/C-60 nano-stacks, can be obtained via a PDMS-assisted crystallization (PAC) technique. The flaton dual-channel supramolecular structure of TPA-C-60 delivered ambipolar and balanced charge-transport characteristics with an average me of 2.11 x 10(-4) cm(2) V-1 s(-1) and mh of 3.37 x 10(-4) cm(2) V-1 s(-1). The anisotropic charge-transport ability of the pyramid-sphere-shaped amphiphile was further understood based on the lattice structure and the lattice orientation of TPA-C-60 revealed from electron diffraction analyses.Item type:Item, Increase the risk of intellectual disability in children with scabies: A nationwide population-based cohort study(2017-06-01) ;Liu, Jui-Ming ;Hsu, Ren-Jun ;Chang, Fung-Wei ;Yeh, Chia-LunHuang, Chun-FaScabies is a common and distressing disease caused by the mite Sarcoptes scabiei var. hominis. Psychiatric disorder in childhood is an important disease and easily neglected. There are several similarities in scabies and psychiatric disorders in childhood (PDC). Both of them may present with pruritus. They are relatively common in patients with lower socioeconomic status and crowded environment. Furthermore, immune-mediated inflammatory processes play a role in the pathophysiology in both diseases. An association between scabies and psychiatric disorders may exist. This nationwide population-based cohort study utilized data from the National Health Insurance Research Database to investigate the relationship between scabies and PDC. A total of 2137 children with scabies were identified as the study group and 8548 age- and sex-matched children were selected as the control group. A total of 607 (5.68%) children developed PDC during the 7-year follow-up period. The overall incidences of PDC are similar but patients with scabies had a higher risk of developing intellectual disability (ID) (scabies group vs control group: 1.3% vs 0.6%, adjusted hazard ratio: 2.04 and 95% confidence interval: 1.25-3.32). The immune-mediated inflammatory processes of both diseases were reviewed and may contribute to the 104% increased risk of interleukin in patients with scabies. We suggest a more comprehensive management in treating patients with scabies or ID. Early and comprehensive treatment of scabies and other risk factors may decrease the risk of subsequent ID. When we approach patients with ID, concurrent evaluation of scabies and other risk factors may contribute to successful management.Item type:Item, Influences of Conjugation Length on Organic Field-Effect Transistor Performances and Thin Film Structures of Diketopyrrolopyrrole-Oligomers(2018-03-14) ;Huang, Yi-Fan ;Chang, Shu-Ting ;Wu, Kuan-Yi ;Wu, San-LienCiou, Guan-TingHere, two diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP)-based oligomers, DPP-4T and DPP-6T, are studied to reveal the influences of conjugation length on thin-film morphology and organic field-effect transistor (OFET) performances. PDMS-assisted crystallization in a solvent-annealing chamber is applied to prepare crystal arrays of DPP-4T and DPP-6T to optimize the quality of charge channels for OFET characterizations. To deliver insights into microstructure and morphology of thin films, a characterization procedure for determining molecular packing in thin film and crystallinity of the crystal arrays is presented via grazing incidence wide-angle X-ray scattering, electron diffraction, and lattice simulation software package (Cerius2). With the lattice parameters derived from analyses of grazing incidence wide-angle X-ray scattering (GIWAXS) and electron diffraction (ED), the lattice modeling results indicate that the inferior organic field-effect transistor (OFET) performances of DPP-6T are attributed to longer pi-stacking distance. Also, less-ordered molecular arrangement and lower continuity of crystalline domains, both of which are revealed from crystallinity results, lead to lower mobility of DPP-6T. In this case, longer conjugated backbones with more conformational degrees of freedom thus cause inherent crystal defects during the crystal growth process, despite the potential to enhance intermolecular pi-orbital overlap. Therefore, to achieve better OFET performance, suitable backbone length makes conjugated oligomers give high intermolecular pi-orbital overlap and low density of structural disorder, which are the priorities for constructing good charge channel.Item type:Item, Influences of Out-Of-Plane Lattice Alignment on the OFET Performance of TIPS-PEN Crystal Arrays(2016-11) ;Wu, Kuan-Yi ;Hsieh, Chou-Ting ;Wang, Liang-Hsun ;Hsu, Chih-HaoChang, Shu-TingIn organic field-effect transistors (OFETs), the quality of charge transport pathway, controlled by crystal structures of organic semiconductors (OSCs), strongly affects the performance of the device. To achieve higher charge mobility, solution-processed single-crystal (SPSC) techniques have been used to decrease crystal defects by aligning the crystals of OSCs in the in-plane direction. Nonetheless, through SPSC techniques, whether the crystalline lattices are well aligned in the out-of-plane direction and how the out-of-plane lattice misorientaion affects OFET performances remain unclear. Here, a characterization protocol based on polarized optical microscope, X-ray diffraction, and electron diffraction is established to identify the lattice structure, the in-plane and out-of-plane lattice alignment in the crystal array of 6,13-bis(triisopropylsilylethynyl)pentacene (TIPS-PEN). Regardless of the solvents used in the PDMS-assisted crystallization, the characterization protocol confirms that all the crystal arrays share the same lattice structure (form I phase), and have similar in-plane lattice alignment. However, TIPS-PEN molecules have sufficient time to unify their out-of-plane orientation and prevent the formation of low angle grain boundary (LAGB) during crystal growth if high boiling temperature solvents are used. The improved out-of-plane lattice alignment increases the hole mobility and decreases the performance fluctuations of devices. The results confirm that the out-of-plane lattice alignment significantly impacts the performance of the devices and the reproducibility of the solution-processed TIPS-PEN OFETs.Item type:Item, Packing Principles for Donor-Acceptor Oligomers from Analysis of Single Crystals(2016-08-09) ;Huang, Chi-Feng ;Wu, San-Lien ;Huang, Yi-Fan ;Chen, Ying-ChenChang, Shu-TingD-A conjugated molecules are complicated in both their molecular and their packing structures. In this perspective, we summarize more than 40 crystal lattices of conjugated oligomers to identify the morphological influence of each building block on the D-A molecules. These lattice structures reveal not only the packing preferences of the conjugated oligomers but also the conformational disorder in the lattices. The presence of this disorder in slowly grown crystals implies that attaining total long-range conformational order is challenging for D-A oligomers, which are structurally complicated and readily distorted and which have building blocks of incommensurate packing dimensions. In optoelectronic applications, a decreased duration of processing can prevent ordering and trap the thin films of D-A oligomers from becoming crystalline phases. Although D-A oligomers conform to packing principles in the formation of a single crystal, their phase behaviors in the formation of active thin films are much more difficult to comprehend. Continuous advances in methods of characterization are still strongly required for the steps of attaining a true structure property relation of D-A oligomers in active films for optoelectronic applications.
