Item type:Item, An Advanced Hardware Design Based on Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition Algorithm for Heart Sound Signal Processing(2013) ;Chou, Chia-Ching ;Lin, Kuen-Chih ;Fang, Wai-Chi ;Li, Arvin Huang-TeChang, Yu-ChingIn this study, an advanced hardware design for heart sound signal processing based on ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) is developed and implemented. The EEMD method [1] is developed to alleviate a key drawback in the original empirical mode decomposition (EMD) algorithm. In a previous research, Huang et al. [2] developed an adaptive and efficient EMD method for nonlinear and nonstationary signal analysis. The physical meaning of a single intrinsic mode function (IMF) is obscure, and the original EMD algorithm cannot separate signals with different scales into appropriate IMFs. To overcome this major drawback, a noise-assisted data analysis (NADA) method called EEMD is developed. Heart sound signals are fed into the proposed system to simulate the EEMD-fixed-point performance. A comparison of the floating-point and fixed-point results exhibits satisfactory consistency and demonstrates that our design can accommodate wide variations of dynamic ranges and complicated calculations.Item type:Item, An Efficient and Accurate Empirical Mode Decomposition of the Technical Design and Methods for Biological Sound(2012) ;Fang, Wai-Chi ;Chou, Chia-Ching ;Hung, Tzu-Hsun ;Lin, Kuen-ChihLi, Arvin Huang-TeAn EMD-based algorithm for bio-sound signal processing was proposed and implemented on VEX330 Xilinx FPGA. A free-format fixed point library was development to deal with overflow and underflow problems. Downsampled phonocardiogram signals were fed into our EMD-processor. Comparison of floating point and fixed point results exhibited satisfactory consistency and demonstrated that our novel fixed point library are able to accommodate with wild variations of dynamic ranges.Item type:Item, Filmic framing in video games: a comparative analysis of screen space design(2018-03-01) ;Chang, Yu-Ching ;Hsieh, Chi-Min ;應用藝術研究所Institute of Applied ArtsThe screen space, also known as the eye space of players, is the main component of game design in that it has not only direct interactions with players but also profound impacts on gameplay. Screen space design in games appears to adopt multiple conventions from film theory; however, discussions of the influences or rules related to these patterns are rare. Therefore, the main question of this article concerns the possible relevance of framing the screen space in films and video games, primarily by the means of content analysis comparison. Games have a cross-disciplinary nature. In order to discover their unique mechanics, possibilities, and trends; this research, based on cinematic framing techniques, uses a qualitative descriptive approach to analyze the design and strategy of the visual perspective that is determined by monitors in popular and classic games. This work also attempts to identify the commonalities and differences between games and movies. It is hoped that this research will serve as a reference for future studies and provide some insights into both game design and other visual multimedia applications.Item type:Item, Novel photo-dynamic caner therapy strategy development by nanodiamond-protein complex.(2007-04-01) ;Chen, Pei-Hsin ;Chiang, Ke-Yu ;Chang, Yu-Ching ;Su, Chien-YingChen, Kyh-ShinItem type:Item, Reproducible and Bendable SERS Substrates with Tailored Wettability Using Block Copolymers and Anodic Aluminum Oxide Templates(1970-01-01) ;Lin, Yu-Liang ;Karapala, Vamsi Krishna ;Shen, Ming-Hui ;Chen, Yi-FanHe, Hung-ChiehSurface properties are essential for substrates exhibiting high sensitivity in surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) applications. In this work, novel SERS hybrid substrates using polystyrene-block-poly(methyl methacrylate) and anodic aluminum oxide templates is presented. The hybrid substrates not only possess hierarchical porous nanostructures but also exhibit superhydrophilic surface properties with the water contact angle approximate to 0 degrees. Such surfaces play an important role in providing uniform enhanced intensities over large areas (relative standard deviation approximate to 10%); moreover, these substrates are found to be highly sensitive (limit of detection approximate to 10(-12) m for rhodamine 6G (R6G)). The results show that the hybrid SERS substrates can achieve the simultaneous detection of multicomponent mixtures of different target molecules, such as R6G, crystal violet, and methylene blue. Furthermore, the bending experiments show that about 70% of the SERS intensities are maintained after bending from approximate to 30 degrees to 150 degrees.Item type:Item, Time-Frequency Analysis of Heart Sound Signals Based on Hilbert-Huang Transformation(2012) ;Hung, Tzu-Hsun ;Chou, Chia-Ching ;Fang, Wai-Chi ;Li, Arvin Huang-TeChang, Yu-ChingIn this study, a method based on Hilbert-Huang Transformation (HHT) for time-frequency analysis of heart sound signals is presented. HHT is employed because most biomedical signals such as Electroencephalogram (EEG), Electrocardiogram (ECG) and heart sound signals are non-stationary signals. Heart sound signals recordings are often contaminated with the spike noise caused by the front-end circuits or measurement instruments in the real situations. A digital median filter is firstly employed to remove the spike noise of the heart sound signals. Then, the time series data are decomposed into several IMFs (Intrinsic Mode Function) using Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) algorithm. Hilbert transformation algorithm is utilized to acquire the instantaneous frequency for every IMF. Simulation results show that time-frequency domain analysis of heart sounds signals based on HHT algorithm is able to offer higher frequency resolution.
