Item type:Item, A general invariance principle for nonlinear time-varying systems and its applications(2001-12-01) ;Lee, TC ;Liaw, DC ;Chen, BS ;電控工程研究所Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringA general invariance principle, from the output-to-state point of view, is proposed for the dynamical analysis of nonlinear time-varying systems. This is achieved by the construction of a simple and intuitive criterion using integral inequality of the output function and modified detectability conditions. The proposed scheme can be viewed as an extension of the integral invariance principle (Byrnes and Martin, 1995) for time-invariant systems to time-varying systems. Such extension is nontrivial and can be used in various research areas such as adaptive control, tracking control and the control of driftless systems. An application to global tracking control of four-wheeled mobile robots is given to demonstrate the feasibility and validity of the proposed approach.Item type:Item, Formation of cobalt silicided shallow junction using implant into through silicide technology and low temperature furnace annealing(1996-02-01) ;Chen, BS ;Chen, MC ;電子工程學系及電子研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of ElectronicsThis work investigates the shallow CoSi2 contacted junctions formed by BF2+ and As+ implantation, respectively, into/through cobalt silicide followed by low temperature furnace annealing, For p(+)n junctions fabricated by 20 keV BF2+ implantation to a dose of 5 x 10(15) cm(-2), diodes with a leakage current density less than 2 nA/cm(2) at 5 V reverse bias can be achieved by a 700 degrees C/60 min annealing. This diode has a junction depth less than 0.08 mu m measured from the original silicon surface, For n(+)p junctions fabricated by 40 keV As+ implantation to a dose of 5 x 10(15) cm(-2), diodes with a leakage current density less than 5 nA/cm(2) at 5 V reverse bias can be achieved by a 700 degrees C/90 min annealing; the junction depth is about 0.1 mu m measured from the original silicon surface. Since the As+ implanted silicide film exhibited degraded characteristics, an additional fluorine implantation was conducted to improve the stability of the thin silicide film, The fluorine implantation can improve the silicide/silicon interface morphology, but it also introduces extra defects. Thus, one should determine a tradeoff between junction characteristics, silicide film resistivity, and annealing temperature.Item type:Item, Optimal H-infinity prediction algorithm for uncertain non-stationary real-time MPEG VBR traffic(2002) ;Yang, YS ;Lee, BK ;Chen, BS ;Lee, TH交大名義發表In this paper, a prediction scheme is proposed for real-time MPEG video to predict the burst and long-range dependent traffic. The trend and periodicity characteristics of MPEG video traffic are fully captured by a proposed state-space stochastic dynamic model, which includes traffic parameters in state vector, to improve the accuracy of prediction. As the statistics of the underlying processes are either unavailable or uncertain in real-time applications, a recursive H,,. filtering algorithm is proposed to estimate traffic parameters for long-range prediction. Unlike previous prediction schemes, which predict I, P and B frames separately, the proposed scheme predicts the composite MPEG video traffic. Simulation results based on real MPEG traffic data show that the time-varying trend, the periodic components, and the long-range dependence property can be splendidly predicted and captured by the proposed method. The proposed scheme has a superior performance than the conventional methods, such as LMS, RLS, and TDNN algorithms, in long-range prediction.Item type:Item, Tradeoff between performance and computation for prediction of real-time MPEG video traffic(2003) ;Yang, YS ;Lee, BK ;Chen, BS ;Lee, TH電信工程研究所The performance issues and computation power consumptions of several prediction algorithms for real-time MPEG video are discussed on the paper. The real time MPEG traffic is most important application on broadband video application both on ATM or IP network. The characteristics of MPEG video traffic is burst, long- range dependent, and non-stationary with trend and periodicity. As the statistics of the underlying processes are either unavailable or uncertain in real-time applications, an effective prediction algorithm is helpful for user equipment to capture the real-time variant traffic. The time-invariant H-2/H-infinity filtering algorithm is suggested to estimate traffic parameters for longrange prediction of the MPEG traffic. Simulation results based on real MPEG traffic data show that the time-varying trend, the periodic components, and the long-range dependence property can be splendidly predicted and captured by the proposed method. Compared with the dine-varying H-infinity filter and the time delay neural network (TDNA), the proposed scheme has the best compromise between prediction performance and computation cost for long range prediction of the MPEG video traffic.
