Item type:Item, A natural language interface with casual users for crowd animation(1970-01-01) ;Liu, Wen-Yun ;Wong, Sai-Keung ;Chen, Chien-Yuan ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceWe develop an interface that bridges crowd simulation and natural language processing techniques so that casual users can produce crowd animation by text input. The interface adopts a parser and a tagger to analyze simple English sentences to convert them into intermediate data structures that encapsulate the essential elements of crowds. There are five stages: preprocessing, parsing input sentences, crowd generation, animation adjustment, and crowd animation. Our system supports basic behaviors including standing, walking, running, escaping, being attracted, and queuing. We conducted a user experience study to evaluate the interface. The results show that the interface is user-friendly for casual users to produce crowd animation.Item type:Item, Ant Colony-based Radio Resource Allocation for LTE-A Systems with MIMO and CoMP Transmission(2013) ;Chung, Wen-Ching ;Chen, Chien-Yuan ;Huang, Chin-Ya ;Chang, Chung-JuRen, FrankIn this paper, we propose an ant colony-based radio resource allocation (ACRA) scheme for LTE-A downlink systems to support multi-input-multi-output (MIMO) and coordinated multi-point (CoMP) transmission. One of the challenges in the radio resource allocation problem for LTE-A systems with MIMO and CoMP transmission is its high complexity. The ACRA scheme first assigns users to direct transmission bandwidth (DTB) zone or CoMP transmission bandwidth (CTB) zone. In the DTB zone, the data is delivered by only one transmission node; while in the CTB zone, the transmission is carried out among multiple transmission nodes. By using ant colony optimization, the ACRA scheme determines one best allocation solution from multiple possible solutions. Simulation results show that, the ACRA scheme enhances the system throughput by 8.8 % as compared to the dynamic interference avoidance scheme [10].Item type:Item, Generation of small groups with rich behaviors from natural language interface(1970-01-01) ;Chen, Chien-Yuan ;Wong, Sai-Keung ;Liu, Wen-Yun ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceIn this article, we develop a system with a natural language interface to generate animation of small groups in environments with ambient crowds. Our system takes simple sentences of English as input and these sentences are parsed to obtain information about character attributes, behaviors, and locations for constructing situation nodes. These situation nodes form an animation graph for producing an animation of small groups. The interface assists in interactively managing and editing the animation graph. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the system in some examples. The user study results indicate that the proposed system is user-friendly and flexible in producing animation of small groups in various scenes.
