Item type:Item, A generic and visual interfacing framework for bridging the interface between application systems and recognizers(2006-09-01) ;Peng, Shih-Jung ;Ruzicka, Jan Karel ;Chen, Deng-Jyi ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceApplication systems that utilize recognition technologies such as speech, gesture, and color recognition provide human-machine interfacing to those users that are physically unable to interact with computers through traditional input devices such as mouse or keyboard. Current solutions to interface application systems with recognizers, however, use an ad hoc approach and lack of a generic and systematic way. The common approach used is to interface with recognizers through low-level programmed wrappers that are application dependent and require the details of system design and programming knowledge to perform the interfacing and to make any modifications to it. Thus, a generic and systematic approach to bridge the interface between recognizers and application systems must be quested. In this research work, we provide a generic and visual interfacing framework for bridging the interface between application systems and recognizers through the application system's front end, applying a visual level interfacing without requiring the detailed system design and programming knowledge, allowing for modifications to an interfacing environment to be made on the fly and more importantly allowing the interfacing with the P party applications without requiring access to the application's source code. Specifically, an interfacing script language for building the interfacing framework is designed and implemented. The interfacing framework uses a transparent grid layout mechanism to position the graphic user interface icons defined in the interfaced application system. The proposed interfacing framework is then used to bridge the visual interface commands defined in application systems to the voice commands trained in speech recognizers. The proposed system can be applied to GUI based commercial software without the need of accessing their internal code, and also allowing the composition of macros to reduce interaction overhead to users. Examples are applied using the proposed interfacing mechanisms to demonstrate the applicability and feasibility of the proposed visual interfacing approach.Item type:Item, A generic interface methodology for bridging application systems and speech recognizers(2007) ;Peng, Shih-Jung ;Chen, Deng-Jyi ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceApplication systems that utilize recognition technologies, such as speech recognition, provide human-machine interface that could aid people more easily in operating system device or help those who are physically unable to interact with computers through traditional input devices such as mouse or keyboard. As we have seen, speech recognition technology is widely used between the device interfaces and human. The common approached method to increase speech recognition function into devices is through low-level programmed wrappers. For getting that, first we must obtain the source code of system and have programming knowledge in order to perform it. In that, the speech commands are pre-defined for particular application systems, so user could not set or modify the commands to what they want especially. Even if the designer want to add or delete some speech commands, it also is not easy and is time consuming. In this research, we provide a general interfacing framework. Under this, user could set or modify speech commands conveniently and easily without the needs of the detailed system code, system design and programming knowledge. After speech commands are set by end user, interface would store these commands to database. When end user speak a command through interface, the interface would analyze and recognize it, and then interact directly with application systems through calling the API functions, we have done before, to control mouse moving and keyboard pressing. The proposed system could be applied to GUI based commercial software without accessing their internal code. When installing and executing our proposed interfacing framework under windows environment, user can interact with most of the application systems by controlling mouse moving, mouse jumping, mouse clicking, keyboard pressing and compound keyboard pressing through speech commands just like what we have done normally. Finally, we apply some examples to demonstrate the applicability and feasibility of the proposed interfacing framework.Item type:Item, A novel method for delivering multimedia e-advertisement data base on use multi-path and multi-seed peer-to-peer-like approach(2014-03-01) ;Cheng, Yu-Hsin ;Chen, Deng-Jyi ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceWith the fact that digital signage are characterized for the variable and abundant multimedia visual and audio expressions and exhibit advantages of multiplicity, locality, real-time, segmentation, and existence, they have been predicted to emerge as the major trend in the future advertising in various surveys. Focused on the characteristics of disseminating the multimedia electronic advertisements through the network, there will be an enormous amount of data transmitted and various electronic advertising distributed in accordance with the regions. To specifically address these needs, we will propose a multi-path, multi-seed dissemination approach suitable for the delivery of the multimedia electronic advertisements. In this paper, within a peer-to-peer network structure, the network cluster will be first formed in accordance with the locality. Based on each cluster's locality, the electronic advertisements designated for dissemination into a specific cluster can then be determined. We then apply the seed concept formed by BitTorrent to segment the entire multimedia electronic advertisement into myriad seeds. At the same time, this paper adopts the Optimal Multi-Path Routing proposed by Guoliang Xue to design a peer-to-peer-like multiple multi-path framework, followed by the distribution of myriad seeds into each node within the cluster. Each node's bandwidth will also be utilized to complete the re-transmission of the multimedia electronic advertisement for achieving the objective of establishing multimedia electronic advertisement on each node. The NCTUns Network Simulator and Emulator was utilized to simulate the transmission status for variable number of node. The approach proposed by this manuscript can be applied to different set-up parameters and data size. The experimental results indicate that the key determining factor of transmission time under the multi-path and multi-seed dissemination approach is the data size. Transmitting the same data size under a multi-path and multi-seed approach does not increase the transmission time as the number of nodes increase. Simulations demonstrate that the multi-path and multi-seed dissemination approach is suitable for the delivery of the multimedia electronic advertisements.Item type:Item, Effective Learning Model and activate learning algorithm for improving learning efficiency(2007-11-01) ;Peng, Shih-Jung ;Liang, Pi-Feng ;Chen, Deng-Jyi ;資訊科學與工程研究所Institute of Computer Science and EngineeringIn recent years, technology developments are more rapidly. How to learn and obtain desired knowledge efficiently has become an important but complicated problem. We hope that there are methods can give us some suggestions about how to learn knowledge efficiently. In this paper, we introduced some learning behavior of people, and then use our designed Effective Learning Curve Model to imitate this learning phenomenon. Using our learning function model, we can imitate people's learning behavior through pretesting. Every one has different learning behavior functions on learning distinct courses. Different learning sequence of courses will cause different learning efficiency. From this view, we proposed Max Learning Efficiency Slope First Algorithm (MLESFA) by differential learning functions to give people some suggestions about courses learning sequence and obtain desired knowledge efficiently. These algorithms also can help us to understand how much time we have to spend on each course in order to get better learning efficiency under time limitation. Finally, we make some learning example and compare simulation results with other courses learning algorithms. From the simulation results, we can see that our MLESFA algorithm has better learning efficiency than others.Item type:Item, Finding Near-Optimum Message Scheduling Settings for SHA-256 Variants Using Genetic Algorithms(2013-09-01) ;Lin, Chu-Hsing ;Lee, Chen-Yu ;Kavi, Krishna M. ;Chen, Deng-JyiYeh, Yi-ShiungOne-way hash functions play an important role in modem cryptography. Matusiewicz et al. proved that the message scheduling is essential for the security of SHA-256 by showing that it is possible to find collisions with complexity 2(64) hash operations for a variant without it. In this article, we first proposed the conjecture that message scheduling of SHA algorithm has higher security complexity (or fitness value in Genetic algorithm) if each message word (W-t) involves more message blocks (M-i) in each round. We found some evidence supports the conjecture. Consider the security of SHA-0 and SHA-1. Since Chabaud and Joux shown that SHA-1 is more secure than SHA-0. Further, Wang found collisions in full SHA-0 and SHA-1 hash operations with complexities less than 2(39) and 2(69), respectively. We found it is consistent from the viewpoint of message blocks (terms) involved in each message word. It clearly shown that the number of terms involved in SHA-1 is more than that in SHA-0, taking W-27 as an example, 14 and 6, respectively. Based on the conjecture we proposed a new view of complexity for SHA-256-XOR functions, a variant of SHA-256, by counting the terms involved in each equation, instead of analyzing the probability of finding collisions within SHA-256-XOR hash function. Our experiments shown that the parameter set in each equation of message schedule is crucial to security fitness. We applied genetic algorithms to find the near-optimal message schedule parameter sets that enhance the complexity 4 times for SHA-1 and 1.5 times for SHA-256-XOR, respectively, when compared to original SHA-1 and SHA-256-XOR functions. The analysis would be interesting for designers on the security of modular-addition-free hash function which is good for hardware implementation with lower gate count. And the found message schedule parameter sets would be a good reference for further improvement of SHA functions.Item type:Item, Generating Remote Control Interface Automatically into Cellular Phone for Controlling Applications Running on PC(2010-03-01) ;Chen, Deng-Jyi ;Peng, Shih-Jung ;Ong, Chin-Eng ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceGenerally speaking, we could conveniently and directly operate ordinary user interface by hand controller. But along with the progressing techniques and increasing functions of communication equipment for family use, the operation and interaction styles between people and device have become more and more abundant. Most of the multimedia contents can be run and displayed on different kinds of platforms without possessing remote control ability originally. If people can just use some simple instruments, such as cellular phone or PDA, to remotely control the multimedia application module running on the PC or digital TV, then the control would become vivid and interesting. But there are various controlled instruments, display devices, and different kinds of methods. People who want to make a specified device to have remote control ability functions must write many complex procedures or programs into the device. Even in just adding or modifying a new function, people must also find the original source program and design function procedures repeatedly, which make developing application systems a cost burden, waste of time, and inefficient. In this paper, we will construct a remote control interface generator system, under which designer can easily transfer specified control object of Java application system running on PC, such as control buttons and labels, and generate remote control interface with objects into cellular phone automatically. This will simplify the development process of creating a control interface and make the control system development and modification more flexible and elastic. Through directly generated controlling objects and functions into the cellular phone by interface generator, we could directly and easily control the Java application system running on the PC without needing to write complex programs into the cellular phone.Item type:Item, Generating user interface for mobile phone devices using template-based approach and generic software framework(2007-07-01) ;Tsai, Ming-Jyh ;Chen, Deng-Jyi ;資訊科學與工程研究所Institute of Computer Science and EngineeringIt has been shown that the major effort spent on the design and implementation of the system software for mobile phone devices is the user interfaces (UI) (or man-machine interface, MMI) [15, 16]. If UI can be developed in a short time, it can be a great help to reduce development time for application software system. Therefore, many researchers in software engineering area have been seeking better solutions to aid UI designers to crate UI. In this paper, we propose a template-based approach to generate UI for mobile phone devices. Specifically, a UI design templates generator is purposed for UI designers to easily and quickly create the UI templates for mobile phone. Furthermore, the developed UI templates can be fine tune with a visual UI authoring tool to generate the UI prototype of the target mobile phone system under consideration. Then, the programmer takes the generated UI prototype as a guider for the program generator to glue the software system architecture and associated functions together to produce the target application system code. Finally, In order to demonstrate the feasibility and applicability of the proposed UI design templates generator, a simulator is designed and implemented for carrying out the software simulation The benefit of the template-based approach is that it enables UI designers to generate UI prototype easily and quickly, and produces automatically the target UI program without writing any textual code. Thus the proposed approach is very suitable for the UI designers (nonprogrammers). In addition, the developed UI templates can be reused by UI designers to generate target UI prototype. Therefore, it can reduce development time. Currently, UI design and implementation are tightly coupling under the operating system (OS) and hardware specifications; any modifications in either one require UI redesign and re-implementation. We also propose a generic software framework for designing the software system architectures of mobile phone devices, which reduces the need to re-design UI following OS or hardware device changes.Item type:Item, Item Attributes Analysis of Computer-based Test based on IRT(2005) ;Chen, Deng-Jyi ;Lai, Ah-Fur ;Chen, Shu-Ling ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceThe IRT (Item Response Theory) has been studied and applied in computer-based test for decades. However, almost of all these existing IRT studies pay their attentions only on test questions in text-based (or static text/graphic) type of presentation form. In this paper, The study proposed an IDEA model, develped test questions both in text-based and multimedia types of presentation form which have the same semantic meanings, and launched an experiment. This study analyzed the difference of item attributes (i.e., difficulty index, discriminatory power), item information and test score. The result indicated that the difficulty indexes of most interactive multimedia questions are less than those of their corresponding static text/graphic questions. But the static text/graphic presentation questions significantly have better discrimination power as compared with the interactive multimedia presentation questions.Item type:Item, MODIFIED AUTONOMOUS KEY MANAGEMENT SCHEME WITH REDUCED COMMUNICATION/COMPUTATION COSTS IN MANET(2011) ;Lin, Chu-Hsing ;Lee, Chen-Yu ;Chen, Deng-Jyi ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceThe growing applications of mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) have made related security issues much more important. B. Zhu et al. proposed a key management scheme using Shamir's secret sharing scheme to construct an Autonomous Key Management (AKM) hierarchy structure. However, Shamir's secret sharing in AKM to control key hierarchy incurs high message transmission costs. This paper modifies the secret sharing scheme and applies it to AKM to reduce communication and computation costs.Item type:Item, Multimedia short message template application system and broadcast system, multimedia short message template applying method and broadcast method(2007-06-14) ;Chen, Deng-Jyi ;Hung, Chi-ChangYang, Po-ChunA multimedia short message template application system and a broadcast system, a multimedia short message template applying method and a broadcast method are disclosed.
