Item type:Item, A Filtered SVPWM for Multiphase Voltage Source Inverters Considering Finite Pulse-Width Resolution(2012-07-01) ;Chen, Keng-Yuan ;Hu, Jwu-Sheng ;電機工程學系Department of Electrical and Computer EngineeringA filtered space-vector pulse-width modulation (SVPWM) considering finite pulse-width resolution is proposed to produce a switching sequence with reduced baseband harmonics for multiphase voltage source inverters (VSI). The conventional SVPWM is sensitive to the pulse-width resolution which leads to increased harmonic distortion in digital-based implementations. By incorporating a pseudofeedback loop regarding weighted voltage difference between desired and produced phase voltages, the quantization error induced by finite pulse-width resolution is compensated, yielding a better tracking performance. The gating signals for multiphase VSIs are presented through rigorous mathematical derivation. In simulations and experiments, harmonic distortions of SVPWMs with and without filter compensation under various pulse-width resolutions are shown. The results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. The main advantage realized is reduction of acoustic noise and increased tracking accuracy.Item type:Item, A General Actuator Array Amplifier Design Using MIMO Optimal Feedback Quantization(2008) ;Hu, Jwu-Sheng ;Chen, Keng-Yuan ;電控工程研究所Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringThis paper proposes a novel switch-mode power stage architecture for actuator array. When the number of actuator is large, the associated power amplifier becomes costly and bulky if each actuator is controlled by an independent amplifier. The proposed architecture allows sharing of the power amplifier among actuators, and thereby reducing the number of switching devices. The architecture is mapped into the graph theorem and the acceptable actuation states are analyzed. The switching method is controlled by an MIMO optimal feedback quantization, which is designed to minimize a weighted measure of the quantization distortion. When the number of actuator is large, the associated power amplifier becomes costly and bulky if each actuator is controlled by an independent amplifier. Further, the increased operational block raises power consumption and is inefficient. The proposed architecture allows sharing of the power ampler among actuators, and thereby reducing the number of switching devices. The control performance and cross-talk behavior are investigated.Item type:Item, A novel switching strategy for FOC motor drive using multi-dimensional feedback quantization(2012-02-01) ;Chen, Keng-Yuan ;Hu, Jwu-Sheng ;Tang, Chi-Him ;Shen, Te-Yang電機工程學系This work proposes a new switching strategy for field oriented control of motor driver to minimize the power of filtered error. By modifying pulse-width resolution and system operating frequency, the switching number is reduced without sacrificing the speed performance. Noise shaping induced by different sampling rates is analyzed. Conventional space vector pulse width modulation is shown to be a special case of the proposed strategy. Another case with zero-bit pulse-width resolution, MDFQM, is proposed. Experimental results show that MDFQM can reduce switching number and heat dissipation of transistors. This property enhances the control efficiency, reliability and durability of power stage. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ltd. Unlike conventional space-vector pulsewidth modulation (SVPWM) which achieves three-phase input voltage by a combination of the basic space vectors, the proposed scheme produces optimal switching commands to minimize the filtered measure of quantization error. Under specific selections of the filter matrix and the quantization scheme, it is shown that the proposed modulator is equivalent to SVPWM. An experimental platform is built to verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. It is shown that the switching number of the proposed method is reduced without sacrificing the harmonic distortion within the input frequency band under various reference signals.Item type:Item, Gating signal generator for multiphase voltage source inverters using space vector PWM(2011) ;Hu, Jwu-Sheng ;Chen, Keng-Yuan ;電機學院 ;電機工程學系College of Electrical and Computer EngineeringThis work systematically analyzes space vector pulse-width modulation (PWM) for a multiphase voltage source inverter (VSI). The instantaneous output voltages of the VSI, which are called space vectors, can be classified according to the switching states of the VSI. By applying the eigen-space decomposition of the system matrix, the n-phase VSI control problem can be solved analytically. This analysis leads to a switching strategy that uses the fewest space vectors and minimum total conduction time. This yields a maximum linear modulation index and minimum switching number. The used multidimensional feedback quantized modulation (MDFQM) strategy selects one switching state and keeps it in every sampling period based on the minimization of filtered voltage errors between the desired voltage commands and the output voltages. The widths of the output voltage pulse are integer times the fixed sampling time in MDFQM. In this paper, two high-efficiency current control methods based on MDFQM are proposed. They integrate the MDFQM strategy and the current control function to minimize the filtered current errors between the desired current commands and the inverter current. Due to the main advantages of less switching numbers and more closed fundamental current, a high-efficiency performance is achieved. The proposed methods are applied to the current control of a three-phase permanent-magnet synchronous motor. The simulation results and experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed methods.Item type:Item, Multi-Dimensional Feedback Quantized Modulation used in Three-Phase PMSM Motor Current Control(2013) ;Chen, Hung-Chi ;Chen, Keng-Yuan ;Chen, Wei-Yu ;Hu, Jwu-Sheng電控工程研究所A current controlled switching strategy using multi-dimensional feedback quantized modulation is proposed in this work. The proposed strategy finds an optimal state that minimizes the power of current error, in contrast to conventional space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM), which switches states in an equivalent mean phase voltage manner. The main advantage is that the output power factor is increased, i.e., an improved power efficiency. The proposed scheme is applied to the control of 3-phase permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). The simulations confirm the proposed control strategy.Item type:Item, System analysis of an optimal noise shaped quantizer for audio-band digital amplifier(2007) ;Hu, Jwu-Sheng ;Chen, Keng-Yuan ;電控工程研究所Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringThis paper reports a novel application of receding finite horizon constrained optimization techniques to design an audio-band full digital amplifier. The digital amplifier using power MOSFET requires a modulator to modulate the reference signal into binary sequences. The modulator can be viewed as an over-sampled quantizer with noise-shaping, requirement. One of the main issues in designing the modulator is to maintain stability while maximizing the ran-e of the reference input signal. The quantization scheme resulting front the optimization is derived in detail to arrive at the stability condition under zero initial conditions. It shows the stability condition becomes more stringent when the relative degree of the shaping filter is high. Simulations results are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the design methodology.Item type:Item, Voltage Source Inverter Drive Using Error-compensated Pulse Width Modulation(2016-01) ;Chen, Keng-Yuan ;Hu, Jwu-Sheng ;Lin, Jau-Nan ;電控工程研究所Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringAn error-compensated pulse width modulator (ECPWM) is proposed to improve the baseband harmonic performance and the switching loss of voltage source inverters (VSIs). Selecting between harmonic distortion and switching loss is a design tradeoff in the conventional space vector pulse width modulation. In this work, an accumulated difference in produced and desired phase voltages is considered to adjust the reference signal. This mechanism can compensate for the voltage error in the previous carrier period. With error compensation every half-carrier period, the proposed ECPWM allows one-half reduction in carrier frequency without scarifying baseband harmonic distortion. The proposed modulator is applied to a three-phase VSI with R-L load and a motor-speed-control system for experiments. The measured efficiency and operating temperature of switches confirm the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.Item type:Item, Voltage Source Inverter Drive Using Error-compensated Pulse Width Modulation(2016-01-01) ;Chen, Keng-Yuan ;Hu, Jwu-Sheng ;Lin, Jau-Nan ;電控工程研究所Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringAn error-compensated pulse width modulator (ECPWM) is proposed to improve the baseband harmonic performance and the switching loss of voltage source inverters (VSIs).
