Item type:Item, A domain-independent software reuse framework based on a hierarchical thesaurus(1998-07-10) ;Liao, HC ;Chen, MF ;Wang, FJ ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceSoftware reuse is an effective way to improve software productivity and quality. Software libraries are getting bigger, while most of them, such as those for object-oriented languages, use Simple but somewhat ineffective classification methods. These libraries typically provide search aids for novices, but not for experts. They are not flexible enough to adequately serve users with different abilities. In this paper, a Software Reuse Framework (SRF) for overcoming these drawbacks is proposed. Based on a built-in hierarchical thesaurus, the classification process can be made semiautomatic. SRF is a domain-independent framework that can be adapted to various libraries. SRF also provides four search levels to serve users with different skill levels. Two sample SRF systems* are implemented, one for Smalltalk-80 and the other for MFC 4.0 (Microsoft(R) Foundation Class) libraries. It allows mobile devices to access internet services, corporate databases and to control various network devices. iMobile implements three key abstractions: dev-let, info-let and app-let. An info-let provides abstract view of information space. An app-let implements service or application logic by processing information from various info-lets. A dev-let receives and sends messages through any particular protocols for mobile devices. The let engine supports user and device profiles for personalization and transcoding, and invokes proper app-lets and info-lets to answer requests from a dev-let. The Mobile modular architecture allows developers to write device drivers, information access methods and application logic independently from each other. To support concurrent teamwork, a distributed PSEE supports the interaction and cooperation of project members. Recently, the Internet and Web technologies bring up a new concept called Network Centric Computing, NCC. The NCC provides a standard interface for accessing data to improve the extensibility of applications. In this paper, we present the design and implementation of a distributed PSEE with NCC. The architecture of our PSEE are divided into three layers: kernel, intermediate, and user-interface layers. These layers contain the web server, process server, and object server which communicate with each other though a Stateless Access Protocol, SAP. These servers are in charge of process modeling and execution, while web browser is in charge of user interface such as an agenda. This paper also presents the activities of process enactment within a project. Besides, we make a comparison between our PSEE with NCC model and prior PSEE with client-server model.Item type:Item, Combining grey relation and TOPSIS concepts for selecting an expatriate host country(2004-12-01) ;Chen, MF ;Tzeng, GH ;經營管理研究所 ;科技管理研究所Institute of Business and ManagementAs international corporate activities increase, their staffing involves more strategic concerns. However, foreign assignments have many differences, and dissatisfaction with the host country is a known cause of expatriate failure. From the point of view of an expatriate candidate, the decision of whether to take an expatriate assignment can be regarded as a FMCDM (fuzzy multiple criteria decision making) problem. This paper describes a fuzzy AHP (fuzzy analytic hierarchy process) to determine the weighting of subjective judgments. Using the Sugeno integral for X-fuzzy measure, and using the nonadditive fuzzy integral technique to evaluate the synthetic utility values of the alternatives and the fuzzy weights, then the best host country alternative can be derived with the grey relation model. The authors further combine the grey relation model based on the concepts of TOPSIS (technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution) to evaluate and select the best alternative. A real case of expatriate assignment decision-making was used to demonstrate that the grey relation model combined with the ideas of TOPSIS results in a satisfactory and effective evaluation. This paper introduces a Software Process Engineering Environment, SPEE. In SPEE, the process designer designs the process definition and project plan in a Process LANguage, PLAN, under a Process Definition Editor, PDE. A software project is developed on a Process Aided Software process enactment Environment, PASE. PASE provides development guidance, activity enforcement, process automation, tool invocations, and execution feedback for process enactment. SPEE, composed on PDE, PLAN, and PASE, provides helps from the plan to the end of a software project.Item type:Item, Fuzzy MCDM approach for evaluation of expatriate assignments(2005-06-01) ;Chen, MF ;Tzeng, GH ;Tang, TI ;經營管理研究所科技管理研究所As international corporate activities increase, the staffing of their operations involves more strategic concerns. However, foreign assignments have many differences, and dissatisfaction with host country is a known cause of expatriate failure. This study distinguishes from previous studies, which focused on the expatriate selection process from the viewpoint of the human resource managers. Prom the view of expatriate candidate's points, this paper describes a fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (fuzzy AHP) to determine the weighting of subjective judgments. When the expatriate assignments are evaluated from various aspects, such as employee personal factors, employee competencies, job characteristics, family factors, environmental factors and organization relocation support activities, it can be regarded as an fuzzy multiple criteria decision making (FMCDM) problem. Since expatriate candidates cannot clearly estimate the relative importance of each considered criterion in terms of numerical values, fuzziness is applicable. Consequently, this paper uses triangular fuzzy numbers by fuzzy AHP to establish weights for expatriate candidates, thus determining the relative importance for criteria of expatriate assignments. From the insights of this study, this article addresses this expatriate problem and offers guidelines for managers concerned with a successful expatriate assignment program.Item type:Item, Using a hierarchical Thesaurus for classifying and searching software libraries(1997) ;Liao, HC ;Chen, MF ;Wang, FJ ;Dai, JC交大名義發表Software reuse is an effective way to improve software productivity and quality.
