Item type:Item, Anodic aluminum oxide as a template for CNT field emitters and AAO-CNT triode structure(2005) ;Lin, Chen-Chun ;Pan, Fu-Ming ;Liu, Mei ;Chang, Kai-ChunChen, Po-LinWe have used anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) as the template to grow carbon nanotubes (CNTs) for the application of field-emission display technology. In order to obtain optimal field emission properties, we have tried to control the density and the length of the CNTs grown from AAO pore channels by tuning the growth time and the CH4 concentration of the precursor gas mixture. AAO pore channel arrays were grown in the triode structure, which was fabricated on silicon wafers by conventional integrated circuit processes.Item type:Item, Co-doping with polysquaraine enhances the holographic optical data storage of PMMA/PQ photopolymers(2011) ;Ko, Cheng-Jung ;Chang, Yeh-Lu ;Hsiao, Yi-Nan ;Chen, Po-LinLin, Shiuan-HueiIn this study, we synthesised poly(3-octylpyrrole-co-squaric acid) (PSQ3), a polysquaraine, through the reaction of 3-octylpyrrole and squaric acid, and then co-doped it with phenanthrenequinone (PQ) into poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) to improve the holographic data storage characteristics of the photopolymer. The photopolymers co-doped with relatively small amounts of PSQ3 exhibited greatly improved holographic recording characteristics, including superior diffraction efficiency and dynamic range (M#). Among the samples co-doped with PQ and PSQ3, the maximum diffraction efficiency reached 54.8% (cf. 9.0% for PMMA/PQ) without further downgrade and the value of M# reached 1.05 (cf. 0.46 for PMMA/PQ). Therefore, the holographic data storage characteristics of the photopolymer PMMA/PQ were improved through co-doping with PSQ3.Item type:Item, Dielectrophoresis System for Testing Antimicrobial Susceptibility of Gram-Negative Bacteria to beta-Lactam Antibiotics(2017-04-18) ;Su, I-Hsiu ;Ko, Wen-Chien ;Shih, Chung-Hsin ;Yeh, Fang-HaoSun, Yung-NienGram-negative bacteria (GNBs) are common pathogens causing severe sepsis. Rapid evaluation of drug susceptibility would guide effective antibiotic treatment and promote life-saving. A total of 78 Clinical isolates of 13 Gram-negative species collected between April 2013 and November 2013 from two medical centers in Tainan were tested. Bacterial morphology changes in different concentrations of antibiotics were observed under the electric field of a. quadruple electrode array using light microscopy. The minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of four antimicrobial agents, namely, cefazolin, ceftazidime, cefepime, and doripenem, were determined by the dielectrophoretic antimicrobial susceptibility testing (dAST) and by the conventional broth dilution testing (BDT). The antibiotics at the concentration of 1x MIC induced obvious morphological changes in susceptible GNBs, including cell elongation, cell swelling, or lysis, at 90 min. In contrast, resistant strains remained unchanged. The MIC results measured by dAST were in good agreement with those of BDT (essential agreement 95.6%). The Category agreement rate was 89.2%, and the very major errors rate for dAST was 2.9%. In conclusion, dAST could accurately determine drug susceptibility within 90 min. Comprehensive tests by dAST for more drugs against more GNB species are possible in the future.Item type:Item, Doped poly(methyl methacrylate) photopolymers for holographic data storage(2006-06-01) ;Lin, Shiuan Huei ;Lin, June-Hua ;Chen, Po-Lin ;Shiao, Yi -NanHsu, Ken Y.In this paper, we report our investigations on thick holographic recording material of the phenanthrenequinone doped poly(methyl methacrylate) (PQ:PMMA) photopolymer. The design strategy and fabrication technique for making thick polymer samples with negligible shrinkage and good optical quality are presented. The physical mechanism for holographic recording in PQ:PMMA material is described, and methods for improving are proposed. Based on these methods, photopolymer samples with different compositions are fabricated and experimentally characterized. The results show that by modifying compositions, the material sensitivity and dynamic range for volume holographic recording have been improved.Item type:Item, Effect of doping metal ion on holographic storage characteristics of PQ/poly(hydroxyethyl methacrylate-co-methyl methacrylate) hybrids(2007-01-01) ;Cheng, Wei-Sheng ;Whang, Wha-Tzong ;Chang, Yu-Chia ;Chen, Po-LinHsiao, Yi-NanHolographic Storage Characteristics of PQ/poly(methyl methacrylate) have been significantly improved by doping metallic ion Yb+3 and Er+3. By introducing different functional groups on the side-chain of 9,10-phenanthrenequinone molecule, the holographic characteristics of the material can be modified. The photoreaction involved with the holographic recording in the samples was investigated by measuring UV-Vis absorption spectrum and mass spectrum. The experimental results show that the similar behaviors were exhibited in these photopolymers. It is found that phase hologram recording in our PQ derivatives doped PMMA photopolymer involves a structure change of the quinone based molecule, which induces a strong change of the refractive index. Experimental characterizations on holographic data storage, including material sensitivity, dynamic range (M#) and bit-error-rate have been performed. We found that, by selecting appropriate functional groups, an improvement in sensitivity and M# for holographic data storage can be achieved. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. Through codoping different compounds, N,N-dimethyl-4-nitroaniline (DMNA) and zinc methylacrylate (Zn(MA)2), into 9,10-phenanthrenequinone (PQ) doped poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), the diffraction efficiency and the value of dynamic range (M#) have been progressed. We enhanced the diffraction efficiency (from 36.1 to 86.2%) and the dynamic range (M#, from 2.9 to 10.7) of PQ-doped PMMA through codoping with DMNA and Zn(MA)2. Using mass spectrometry and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, we investigated the mechanism behind the improvements in optical storage induced by the presence of Zn(MA)2 and DMNA in PMMA/PQ. POLYM. However, there still exist some defects inside a cell (intra-cell) or between two cells (dual-cell) that cannot be effectively detected by the test patterns of conventional fault models and hence become a source of DPPM. In order to further increase the defect coverage, many research works have been conducted to study the fault models resulting from different types of intra-cell and dual-cell defects, by SPICE-simulating each targeted defect with its equivalent circuit-level defect model. However, it was considered computationally infeasible to simulate every possible defective scenario for a cell library and obtain a complete set of cell-level fault models. In this paper, we present a new dual-cell-aware (DCA) framework based on examining the layout of two adjacent cells (i.e., a dual cell) to identify potential defects, where time-consuming RC extraction can be avoided and the runtime for SPICE simulation can be reduced. Experimental results and silicon data on a SoC product show that the proposed DCA framework can not only save runtime significantly but also maintain the promising efficacy of DCA tests for the objective of lowering DPPM.Item type:Item, Methodology of Generating Timing-Slack-Based Cell-Aware Tests(2019-01-01) ;Nien, Yu-Teng ;Wu, Kai-Chiang ;Lee, Dong-Zhen ;Chen, Ying-YenChen, Po-LinIn order to reduce DPPM (defect parts per million), cell-aware (CA) methodology was proposed to cover various types of intra-cell defects. The resulting CA faults can be a 1-time-frame (ltf) or 2-time-frame (2tf) fault, and 2tf CA tests were experimentally verified to be capable of catching a significant number of defective parts not covered by other conventional tests. In this paper, we present a novel methodology for generating 2tf CA tests based on timing slack analysis. The proposed 2tf CA fault model, aware of timing slack and named TS, defines a fault (i) on a cell instance basis, and (ii) based on per-instance timing criticality (according to timing slack). More explicitly, for each cell instance with a specific defect injected, we check its output capacitive load and derive the corresponding extra delay. By comparing the extra delay against timing slack of the cell instance, a delay fault can be defined, and according to its severity, the fault can be further classified into small-delay fault or gross-delay fault. In contrast to prior 2tf CA methodology that is on a cell (rather than cell instance) basis and unaware of timing criticality/slack, our methodology can identify "more realistic" faults which really need to be considered, and potentially the cost/effort for testing those 2tf CA faults can be reduced. Experimental results on a set of 28nm industrial designs demonstrate that, due to more realistic fault identification, the numbers of identified small-delay faults and corresponding test patterns to be applied can be reduced by 35.1% and 24.1% respectively, leading to 40.7% reduction in the runtime of ATPG.Item type:Item, Nitroanilines enhancing the holographic data storage characteristics of the 9,10-phenanthrenequinone-doped poly(methyl methacrylate) photopolymer(2013-01-05) ;Ko, Cheng-Jung ;Hsiao, Yi-Nan ;Lin, Shiuan-Huei ;Chen, Po-LinWhang, Wha-TzongThis article describes an approach toward improving the characteristics of a photopolymer for holographic data storage application. The maximum diffraction efficiency (?max) and dynamic range (M#) of 9,10-phenanthrenequinone (PQ)-doped poly(methyl methacrylate; PMMA) both improved significantly after co-doping with one of three nitroanilinesN,N-dimethyl-4-nitroaniline (DMNA), N-methyl-4-nitroaniline (MNA), and 4-nitroaniline (pNA). In particular, the value of ?max increased from 38% for the PMMA/PQ system to 72% for the PMMA/PQ/DMNA system (a 1.89-fold improvement) and the value of M# increased accordingly from 2.7 to 7.3 (a 2.70-fold improvement). Thus, the holographic data storage characteristics of PMMA/PQ photopolymers can be improved through co-doping with nitroaniline compounds. We also investigated the mechanism of the nitroaniline-induced improvement in optical storage performance using proton nuclear magnetic resonance and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. In these materials, the matrix of PQ/PMMA is replaced by the copolymers, which are composed of either poly (trimethylolpropane triacrylate-co-methyl methacrylate) or poly (2-phenoxyethyl acrylate-co-methyl methacrylate), respectively. With the chemical analyses of the response of these materials with respect to light exposure, the physical mechanism of the holographic recording in those copolymer samples is investigated. In addition, the holographic characteristics, including the dynamic range and sensitivity, have been measured. The experimental results demonstrate that the modification of the monomer components can enhance holographic characteristics of PQ/PMMA. (C) 2009 Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers. By using 325 nm laser as a gating illumination during the holographic recording with 647 nm laser, a volume hologram with diffraction efficiency of similar to 4% can be recorded in a 2 mm thick sample. Photoinduced birefringence in a 2mm thick sample is measured by a phase-modulated ellipsometry. The birefringence induced in this material by linearly polarized beam at 514nm reaches 1.2 x 10(-5). In addition, ability for recording volume polarization grating using two different polarization configurations is demonstrated and compared. The experimental results show that the diffraction efficiency of the hologram reaches to similar to 40% by using two orthogonal circularly polarized beams. (C) 2011 Optical Society of America
