Item type:Item, Development and deployment of IPv6-based SIP VoIP networks(2005) ;Chen, WE ;Wu, Q ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceThis paper presents an IPv6-based SIP VoIP network deployed in Taiwan. This deployment project is supported by N1CI IPv6 R&D Division. The major contributions of this paper are exercising the ENUM deployment on IPv6 SIP network, developing the IPv6 SIP User Agent and the IPv6 SIP Analyzer.Item type:Item, Development of IPv6-IPv4 translation mechanisms for SIP-based VoIP applications(2005) ;Chen, WE ;Su, CY ;Weng, JH ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceThis paper presents the development and deployment of two IPv6-IPv4 translation mechanisms (i.e., Socket-layer Translator and SIPv6 Translator) for SIP VoEP applications in Taiwan. The Socket-layer Translator embeds in the TCP(UDP)/IPv4 TSP and translates the IPv4 Winsock function calls to IPv6. The SIPv6 Translator is a translation gateway between IPv6 and IPv4 networks and assists the IPv6 SIP User Agents to communicate with the IPv4 SIP User Agents. These two translation mechanisms can accelerate the IPv6 transition. This deployment project is sponsored by NICI EPv6 R&D Division. The results of this paper can be shared with the person who attempts to deploy an EPv6-based SIP VoIP environment.Item type:Item, Effective VoIP call routing in WLAN and cellular integration(2005-10-01) ;Lin, YB ;Chen, WE ;Gan, CH ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceIn cellular-WLAN integration, a dual-mode mobile station (XIS) typically disables the WLAN module for power saving. A major problem is that for an incoming VoIP call (or data session), the MS will not be able to receive this call from the WLAN. It turns out that the call is directed to the cellular network. This letter proposes a simple push solution where an MS can accurately detect a VoIP call from paging signaling of the cellular network. Then the WLAN module of the MS is turned on and the VoIP call is connected to the MS through the relatively inexpensive WLAN.Item type:Item, NCTU SLT: A socket-layer translator for IPv4-IPv6 translation(2005-10-01) ;Chen, WE ;Su, CY ;Lin, YB ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceBased on Bump-In-the-API (BIA) architecture, this letter proposes a Socket-layer Translator called NCTU SLT that translates IPv4 applications to IPv4/IPv6-capable applications on dual-stack hosts. Like previously proposed approaches, NCTU SLT can translate NAT-friendly applications (e.g., HTTP and TELNET) without modifying the source codes of the IPv4 applications. Furthermore, NCTU SLT has the advantages over the previous approaches for translating non-NAT friendly applications (i.e., SIP,and FTP).Item type:Item, WGSN: WLAN-based GPRS support node with push mechanism(2004-07-01) ;Feng, VWS ;Wu, LY ;Lin, YB ;Chen, WE資訊工程學系This paper proposes wireless LAN (WLAN)-based GPRS Support Node (WGSN), as a solution for integrating Third Generation (3G) and WLAN services. We show that the 3G mechanisms can be re-used for WLAN user authentication and network access without introducing new procedures and without modifying the existing 3G network components. We describe the WGSN features and show how they are designed and implemented. To reduce the power consumption and computation complexity of a mobile station (MS), the WGSN applications may not be activated in the MS if they are not used. For an MS-terminated application, a push mechanism is implemented in WGSN, which automatically activates the application at the MS side. An analytic model is proposed to investigate the requirements on the WGSN transmission delay of the push operation. A WGSN prototype has been implemented in the Industrial Technology Research Institute and National Chiao-Tung University Joint Research Center.
