Item type:Item, A novel distributed charge storage element fabricated by the oxidation of amorphous silicon carbide(2004) ;Chang, TC ;Yan, ST ;Chen, YT ;Liu, PTSze, SMA novel distributed charge storage element fabricated by the oxidation of amorphous silicon carbide is proposed. For low-temperature oxidation processes, the oxidized SiCO gate stack shows a larger memory window due to the retainable dangling bonds with more Si-C bonding types and less Si-O bonds. Under 5 V write operation of the low-temperature oxidized SiCO stack, a 1.5 V threshold voltage shift is exhibited, which is sufficient for a memory device to define "0'' and "1.'' Also, the low-temperature oxidation process of the SiCO layer saves the thermal budget for the manufacturing processes of nonvolatile memory devices. In addition, NJ and ML trees for the sensor kinases and the response regulators were constructed, and the distances measured and comparatively analyzed. It was apparent that more than half of the sensor-regulator gene pairs, especially the 2CSs with OmpR-like regulators, are derivatives of a common ancestor and have most likely co-evolved through gene pair duplication. Several of the 2CS pairs, especially those with NarL-like regulators, however, appeared to be relatively divergent. This is supportive of the recruitment model, in which a sensor gene and regulator gene with different phylogenetic history are assembled to form a 2CS. Correlation of the classification of sensor kinases and response regulators provides further support for these models. Upon comparison of the phylogenetic trees comprised of sensors and regulators, we have identified six congruent clades, which represent the group of the most recently duplicated 2CS gene pairs. Analyses of the congruent 2CS pairs of each of the clades revealed that certain paralogous 2CS pairs may carry a redundant function even after a gene duplication event. Nevertheless, comparative analysis of the putative promoter regions of the paralogs suggested that functional redundancy could be prevented by a differential control. Both codon usage and G+C content of these 2CS genes were found to be comparable with those of the P. aeruginosa genome, suggesting that they are not newly acquired genes.Item type:Item, Mn,Cd-metallothionein-2: A room temperature magnetic protean(2006-02-24) ;Chang, CC ;Lee, SF ;Sun, KW ;Ho, CCChen, YTNaturally occurring metallothionein (MT) is a metal binding protein, which binds to seven Zn2+ through 20 conserved cysteines and forms two metal binding clusters with a Zinc-Blende structure. We demonstrate that the MT, when substituting the Zn2+ ions by Mn2+ and Cd2+, exhibits magnetic hysteresis loop observable by SQUID from 10 to 330 K. The magnetic moment may have originated from the bridging effect of the sulfur atoms between the metal ions that leads to the alignment of the electron spins of the Mn2+ ions inside the clusters. The protein backbone may restrain the net spin moment of Mn2+ ions from thermal fluctuation. The modified magnetic-metallothionein is a novel approach to creating molecular magnets with operating temperatures up to 330 K. (c) 2005 Elsevier Inc. Full states of the dynamic system of multiple-degree-of-freedom (MDOF) structures, multiple TMDs (MTMDs) installed at different stories of the building, and the power spectral density (PSD) function of environmental disturbances are taken into account. This proposed method allows for a more extensive application and successfully releases the limitations based on simplified models. The optimal design parameters of TMDs in terms of the damping coefficients and spring constants corresponding to each TMD are determined through minimizing a performance index of structural responses defined in the frequency domain. Moreover, a numerical method is also proposed for searching for the optimal design parameters of MTMDs in a systematic fashion such that the numerical solutions converge monotonically and effectively toward the exact solutions as the number of iterations increases. The feasibility of the proposed optimal design theory is verified by using a SDOF structure with a single TMD (STMD), a five-DOF structure with two TMDs, and a ten-DOF structure with a STMD. To fill the gap between the tradictional idealized mathematical models and the actual reality of dynamical systems, a pragmatical asymptotical stability theorem is given with application to satellite system.Item type:Item, Pragmatical asymptotical stability theorem with application to satellite system (vol 38, pg 6178, 1999)(1999-12-01) ;Ge, ZM ;Yu, JK ;Chen, YT ;機械工程學系Department of Mechanical EngineeringItem type:Item, Sequencing and analysis of the large virulence plasmid pLVPK of Klebsiella pneumoniae CG43(2004-08-04) ;Chen, YT ;Chang, HY ;Lai, YC ;Pan, CCTsai, SFWe have determined the entire DNA sequence of pLVPK, which is a 219-kb virulence plasmid harbored in a bacteremic isolate of Klebsiella pneumoniae. A total of 251 open reading frames (ORFs) were annotated, of which 37% have homologous genes of known function, 31% match the hypothetical genes in the GenBank database, and the remaining 32% are novel sequences. The obvious virulence-associated genes carried by the plasmid are the capsular polysaccharide synthesis regulator rmpA and its homolog rmpA2, and multiple iron-acquisition systems, including iucABCDiutA and iroBCDN siderophore gene clusters, Mesorhizobium loti fepBC ABC-type transporter, and Escherichia coli fecIRA, which encodes a Fur-dependent regulatory system for iron uptake. In addition, several gene clusters homologous with copper, silver, lead, and tellurite resistance genes of other bacteria were also identified. Identification of a replication origin consisting of a repA gene lying in between two sets of iterons suggests that the replication of pLVPK is iteron-controlled and the iterons are the binding sites for the repA to initiate replication and maintain copy number of the plasmid. Genes homologous with E. coli sopA/sopB and parA/parB with nearby direct DNA repeats were also identified indicating the presence of an F plasmid-like partitioning system. Finally, the presence of 13 insertion sequences located mostly at the boundaries of the aforementioned gene clusters suggests that pLVPK was derived from a sequential assembly of various horizontally acquired DNA fragments. Standards and technologies for HAN have been proposed and are frequently discussed in both academic and industrial circles. The residential gateway (RG) is the cross-connect device that handles all external accesses to HAN. The RG has to provide the network address translation (NAT) mechanism for solving the addressing problem, since the IPv4 addressing scheme is inadequate for today's Internet; i.e., it is impossible to assign a unique IP address to every in-home devices. All IP-sensitive applications on RG can cause security problems while using the NAT router. The Realm Specific IP (RSIP) provides an alternative to remedy this limitation, but complications still exist. In this paper, we propose solutions to these complications by using the lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP). We define a LDAP schema that can be used to store all necessary information generated by RSIP The RSIP in conjunction with the LDAP schema provides a robust mechanism for dealing with the network address translation problem of HAN.
