Item type:Item, Evaluation of Perovskite Hole Selective Contacts for Silicon Solar Cells(2019-01-01) ;Chen, Yan-Syun ;Li, Li-Yu ;Yu, Peichen ;Chao, Yu-ChiangMeng, HsinFeiwe investigate the potential and stability of perovskite(MaPbI3) as the hole-selective contact materials for silicon solar cells because perovskite has excellent carrier transport properties for both electrons and holes. We have overcome the problem of forming a continuous perovskite thin film on silicon due to low surface energy by engineering the silicon surface roughness and native oxide. As a result, the short-circuit current density (Jsc) of the device with the perovskite layer increases by 0.6mA/cm2 from 27.73 to 28.32 mA/cm2 and the open-circuit voltage (Voc) increases by 5mV from 517.36 to 512.50 mV, reaching a power conversion efficiency of 10.53%. The solar cell with the perovskite(MaPbI3) hole selective layer exhibits better performance than the reference counterpart. Future work will be focused on tuning the composition of the PbBr2 and Pb12 to modify the work function and enlarge the hole selectivity.Item type:Item, Hybrid Organic Silicon Solar Cells Using a Carbon-Nanotube Doped PEDOT:PSS Hole Selective Layer(2019-01-01) ;Kuo, Li-Jung ;Lee, Li-Yu ;Chiu, Chi-Lin ;Wu, Hsin-LungChen, Yan-SyunIn this work, we employ carbon nanotube (CNT) doped PEDOT:PSS to increase the conductivity and evaluate the potential of CNT-doped PEDOT:PSS as a hole selective layer for conventional silicon solar cell. Two types of PEDOT: PSS noted as TC100, TC200 with a relative high and low CNT concentrations. The results have shown that PEDOT: PSS could effectively passivate the silicon surface. The contact resistivity for holes is also smaller than that for electrons on a polished surface. Finally, conventional solar cells with a polished or textured rear surfaces are incorporated with the TC100 and TC200. The results shown that the PEDOT:PSS increase the open-circuit voltage, and short-circuit current, compared to the reference cell. A power conversion efficiency of 14.55% has been achieved for the device with the TC100 hole selective layer.Item type:Item, The influence of UV filter and Al/Ag moisture barrier layer on the outdoor stability of polymer solar cells(2020-03-15) ;Weng, Chia-Ning ;Yang, Hao-Chun ;Tsai, Cheng-Yu ;Chen, Szu-HanChen, Yan-SyunThe degradation of the polymer solar cells in the outdoor condition was studied. It was found that the devices with normal structure (ITO/PEDOT:PSS/PBDTTT-EFT:PC71BM/ZrOx/Al) show better stability than those with inverted device structure (ITO/ZnO/PBDTTT-EFT:PC71BM/MoO3/Ag). PBDTTT-EFT is poly[4, 8-bis(5-(2-ethylhexyl) thiophen-2-yl) benzo [1,2-b;4,5-b] dithiophene-2, 6-diyl-alt-(4-(2-ethylhexyl)-3-fluorothieno [3,4-b] thiophene-) - 2-carboxylate-2-6-diyl)] and PC71BM is [6,6]-phenyl-C71-butyric acid methyl ester. The major cause of degradation was attributed to the ultraviolet (UV) part of the sunlight. When the UV filter with cut-off wavelength of 400 nm was used to protect the device, the decay rate was improved by 50 times and the protected device retains 95% of their initial power conversion efficiency after 13 days outside. In the meanwhile, the decay of device fabricated by toluene was found 8 times faster than device by chlorobenzene. Thin 20 nm of Ag capping layer can further improve the stability. Degradation under water immersion indicates that the major effect of Ag is to protect against the residual moisture inside the encapsulation.
