Item type:Item, Alignment strategies of AMT with e-commerce setting to improve business strategy in the supply chain operations environment - An empirical study(2007) ;Sha, D. Y. ;Chen, P. K. ;Chen, Yung-Hsin ;工業工程與管理學系Department of Industrial Engineering and ManagementThe purpose of this study is to explore which alignment strategies of advanced manufacturing technology (AMT) with e-commerce setting can develop adequate condition to meet different business strategies requirements in practice. This study is based on 127 Asian samples sieved from the International Manufacturing Strategy Survey (IMSS) database, and applies a hypothesis-test to infer the result. From these Asian samples, we found that the manufacturers usually adopt two business strategies such as product strategy, and high-quality product/delivery strategies to maintain or improve competitive advantage. To As to what business strategies can be successfully put into practice, the results of test indicates that two different alignment strategies of AMT with e-commerce setting can develop appropriate condition to satisfy the requirements of two kind of business strategies. Our finding provides the insight very beneficial for manufacturers to reconsider their alignment strategies of AMT with e-commerce setting to meet business strategies in different context.Item type:Item, The Exploration of B2B e-Auction Adaptation Strategy in Taiwan(2010-01-01) ;Yu, Ya-Wen ;Lin, Ya-Ti ;Chen, Yung-Hsin ;Chen, James K-C.工業工程與管理學系Business-To-Business (B2B) electronic-auction (e-auction) has become a popular tool in the business transaction process. However, there are several reasons that cause companies in Taiwan to be reluctant in using this tool. In this empirical paper, it provides a more distinctive direction to enhance the benefit and operational efficiency when seeking the use of e-auction. The obstacles for applying e-auction have been explored based on expert interviews and research data found from some high-tech firms in Taiwan. Decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) method has been utilized to evaluate the connection and relationship among the four criteria, which influence decision-making of e-auction adoption. The purpose of utilizing DEMATEL is to realize the relationship between all criteria, as well as finding the optimal solution for firms to adapt to e-auction. The research outcome reveals that the criterion of Internal Resistances is the primary factor that influences the adoption of e-auction, while Operational Costs and External Resistances tend to be affected by Internal Resistances. The results of this research can be used to support firms in implementing e-auction tool more efficiently and gain the most benefit consequently.Item type:Item, The strategic fit of supply chain integration in the TFT-LCD industry(2008) ;Sha, D. Y. ;Chen, P. K. ;Chen, Yung-Hsin ;工業工程與管理學系Department of Industrial Engineering and ManagementPurpose - The purpose of this paper is to identify what kind of supply chain integration strategies can support TFT-LCD manufacturers seeking to break through the cost constraints and complex co-operation relationships between manufacturers, suppliers and set plants/distributors, and further satisfy the market requirements in terms of cost, quality delivery, and flexibility. Design/methodology/approach - The paper encompasses in-depth interviews with 20 TFT-LCD industry executives in three of the largest Taiwan TFT-LCD manufacturing firms. Findings - Several different supply chain integration strategies have been identified for operational-level improvement of TFT-LCD manufacturing, including direct or indirect investment in suppliers; "made in-house" and "made by resident suppliers" arrangements, "quasi-cluster" formation, and new module assembly line set-up at set plant. Research limitations/implications - This study involves only three multinational corporations of Taiwanese origin. Practical implications - Based on the analysis of the TFT-LCD supply chain structure, the strategic fit of supply chain integration leads to the improvement of TFT-LCD manufacturers' capability to satisfy customer requirements and then attain competitive advantage. Their experience provides guidance for other hi-tech industries. Originality/value - The paper provides insights into the strategic formulation of supply chain integration in the real world of the TFT-LCD industry and identifies directions for further empirical research.
