Item type:Item, Implementing automatic location update for Follow-me database using VoIP and Bluetooth technologies(2002-10-01) ;Lin, YB ;Cheng, HY ;Cheng, YH ;Agrawal, P資訊工程學系Personal Number (PIN) service or Follow-me service allows a user to access telecommunication services with any terminals (e.g., fixed telephones or mobile phones) in any locations within the service area. To provide this feature, the PN user needs to manually register with a phone number every time he/she enters a new location. It the user forgets to register the new phone number, the incoming calls will be misrouted. To provide user-friendly Follow-me service, this paper proposes an Automatic Follow-me Service (AFS) approach that automatically updates the PN records in the Follow-me database. The significance of our approach is that AFS can be integrated with existing Follow-me databases to automate PIN services offered by different PSTN service providers. We show how AFS can be implemented by using the Voice over IP and Bluetooth technologies. Then, we propose an analytic model to investigate the performance of AFS. The analytic results are validated by simulation experiments. Our study suggests how to select polling frequency to optimize the AFS performance.Item type:Item, The adaptive lane-departure warning system(2002) ;Hsu, PL ;Cheng, HY ;Tsuei, BY ;Huang, WJ交大名義發表A vision-based lane-departure warning system which adapts the variation of brightness is developed in this paper. By sequentially applying the proposed processing techniques as (1) lane strengthening, (2) dichotomy, (3) smoothing filtering, an efficient decision rule is then applied to the processed image to realize the lane-departure warning system. Moreover, according to the variation of the brightness by reading the output of a photo-resistance sensor, the adaptive threshold for dichotomy is achieved. The present system effectively achieves real-time lane-departure warning with 10 decisions per second and 97.4% correct detection rate as driving angles varied larger than 50 in the experiments.Item type:Item, Wavelength-tunable add-drop multiplexers using fiber Fabry-Perot tunable filters for bidirectional wavelength-division multiplexing networks(2004-10-01) ;Peng, PC ;Cheng, HY ;Chi, S ;光電工程學系Department of PhotonicsA novel wavelength-tunable add-drop multiplexer (ADM) using fiber Fabry-Perot tunable filters (FFP-TFs) for the bidirectional wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) network is proposed and demonstrated. The wide tuning range, low loss, and low polarization dependence properties of the FFP-TFs are used for the ADM operation. The experimental results show that the wavelength tuning range of this wavelength-tunable ADM can be up to 40 nm. The bit-error-rate performance of the dropped and pass-through channels for a 2.5 Gbit/s system shows the feasibility of ADM. (C) 2004 Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers.
