All the proposed functional components are reusable, replaceable, and extensible for the system developers to implement customized home healthcare systems addressing different demands of patients and caregivers from healthcare monitoring aspects. The prototype design of the intelligent healthcare system based on these proposed components can provide the following features: (1) monitoring and recording videos of rehabilitation situations and patient behavior using multiple CCD cameras, which can be stored accordingly in an archive; (2) recording the patient's physiological data and corresponding treatment plan, which can be stored in an XML archiving database for caregivers' review; (3) automatically alerting patients to remind them of medication schedules or treatment plans, while recording the patient's treatment situations; (4) caregivers monitoring videos and physiological records of the patient's rehabilitation using handheld mobile devices via the Internet or wireless communication networks; and (5) caregivers and patients establishing alert mechanisms for the patients' physiological warning states. If the patient's physiological state suddenly deteriorates, the module would immediately alert caregivers by sending notification messages to their remote mobile devices or web browsers.Item type:Item, A Project-based Curriculum for Teaching C plus plus Object-Oriented Programming(2012) ;Chen, Yen-Lin ;Chiang, Chuan-Yen ;Huang, Yo-Ping ;Yuan, Shyan-Ming資訊工程學系This paper presented a project-based remedial curriculum for teaching the C++ programming language and object-oriented programming (OOP) skills and concepts. Most traffic accidents are caused by driver carelessness on traffic conditions. The driving dispute is a critical problem for drivers when the car accident is happened. The drivers usually install the car video recorder in their car to recode their driving images in recent years. If a traffic accident being happened, the driver can provide a driving video file as an evidence to claim that they did not conduct any dangerous driving behaviors for protecting themselves from suspicions. However, under some such situations, drivers may not stay in their car accident when driving the car, but they have similar requirements for a video record, because they need to use those video files to find out the crime in some hit-and-run accidents. The goal of this paper is to develop a platform which can allow user to share their driving videos by using smart wearable devices and allow other users to search traffic video by some given specific time, date and location from the platforms\' database.Item type:Item, A Vision-Based Driver Nighttime Assistance and Surveillance System Based on Intelligent Image Sensing Techniques and a Heterogamous Dual-Core Embedded System Architecture(2012-03-01) ;Chen, Yen-Lin ;Chiang, Hsin-Han ;Chiang, Chuan-Yen ;Liu, Chuan-MingYuan, Shyan-MingThis study proposes a vision-based intelligent nighttime driver assistance and surveillance system (VIDASS system) implemented by a set of embedded software components and modules, and integrates these modules to accomplish a component-based system framework on an embedded heterogamous dual-core platform. By use of personal computers, smart phones and wearable smart devices, people can enjoy the convenience brought by these web services and use them to not only enrich our daily life but also solve life issues. Thus, to more appropriately realize the performance of a web service, it is necessary to perform an overall and credible web service testing. Among the areas of current research and applications of web service testing issues, a tester can use a single-node testing tool to rapidly build a simple test environment on a single test node or LAN environment; the tester can also take advantage of the cloud testing method to create large-scale test environment. However, these existing tools and methods suffer some problems so that the test environment is neither close enough to the real context of the use cases nor able to meet tester's requirement (test node dispersion, resource management and ease of deploying a test, etc.). In this paper, we identify three essential requirements for web service testing applications (elastic test environment provisioning, large scale simulation capability, and geographical test support) and propose an efficient design of browser-based distributed testing service platform. As a result, the tester can significantly save their time and reduce the cost via the proposed of browser-based distributed testing service platform.Item type:Item, Automatic Rack Cabinet Management System for Data Center(2013) ;Yuan, Shyan-Ming ;Chiang, Chuan-Yen ;Chen, Meng-Jie ;Chen, Yen-Lin資訊工程學系With the evolution of computer science technology the concept of clouds are kept booming. The management of a large number of computer and peripheral equipment becomes an important issue. For centrally managing such a large number of computers and peripheral equipment scattered in many long-distance locations, the IP-based peripheral equipment is presented in the market today. The smart automatic management which includes automatically handling the common equipment status and controlling the number of running computer is neglected. In addition, managers will usually want a semantic way to think about how to control these devices. This paper presents a user-configurable semantic control system which allows users define their own automation control processes. The prediction of computer status is used for energy control, and the intelligent home language SHPL is also adopted to describe the semantics of the process. The system achieves the cross-device automatic management using device status and the power-saving functionality is also provided.Item type:Item, Embedded On-road Nighttime Vehicle Detection and Tracking System for Driver Assistance(2010) ;Chen, Yen-Lin ;Chiang, Chuan-Yen ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceThis study presents an effective method for detecting vehicles in front of the camera-assisted car during nighttime driving and implements it on an embedded system. Because the shape features of on-road pedestrians are irregular and complex, so that the detection techniques cost large computational resources. However, the in-vehicle embedded systems only have limited computational resources. To resolve this challenge, we propose fast pedestrian detection algorithms based on histogram of oriented gradients (HOGs), and support vector machines (SVMs). The proposed techniques are evaluated and implemented on a digital signal processing (DSP) based embedded platform. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed detection techniques can provide high computational efficiency and detection accuracy.Item type:Item, Vision-Based Finger Detection, Tracking, and Event Identification Techniques for Multi-Touch Sensing and Display Systems(2011-07-01) ;Chen, Yen-Lin ;Liang, Wen-Yew ;Chiang, Chuan-Yen ;Hsieh, Tung-JuLee, Da-ChengThis study presents efficient vision-based finger detection, tracking, and event identification techniques and a low-cost hardware framework for multi-touch sensing and display applications. The proposed approach uses a fast bright-blob segmentation process based on automatic multilevel histogram thresholding to extract the pixels of touch blobs obtained from scattered infrared lights captured by a video camera. The advantage of this automatic multilevel thresholding approach is its robustness and adaptability when dealing with various ambient lighting conditions and spurious infrared noises. To extract the connected components of these touch blobs, a connected-component analysis procedure is applied to the bright pixels acquired by the previous stage. After extracting the touch blobs from each of the captured image frames, a blob tracking and event recognition process analyzes the spatial and temporal information of these touch blobs from consecutive frames to determine the possible touch events and actions performed by users. This process also refines the detection results and corrects for errors and occlusions caused by noise and errors during the blob extraction process. The proposed blob tracking and touch event recognition process includes two phases. First, the phase of blob tracking associates the motion correspondence of blobs in succeeding frames by analyzing their spatial and temporal features. The touch event recognition process can identify meaningful touch events based on the motion information of touch blobs, such as finger moving, rotating, pressing, hovering, and clicking actions. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed vision-based finger detection, tracking, and event identification system is feasible and effective for multi-touch sensing applications in various operational environments and conditions.
