Then, a plasma treatment is performed on surfaces of the first protective layer and the second protective layer. Then, the first substrate and the second substrate are dipped into a solution after the plasma treatment. Then, the first substrate and the second substrate are laminated in the solution, wherein the first protective layer faces the second protective layer. Finally, the first substrate and the second substrate are taken out from the solution.Item type:Item, Characterization and Packaging of Electronic Paper Display Based on Particle Polarization(2009) ;Chiu, Cheng-Pu ;Hsu, Ching-Hsiang ;Chen, Shih-Chiang ;Fan, Shih-KangChiang, Mei-TsaoA particle-based reflective electronic paper has been characterized. Based on the particle polarization, we drive the neutral microspheres to form particle chains in a water solution by applying an AC electric field. The particle-chain transformation regulates the incident light and the reflectivity of the display. Here we developed the device packaging with hydrophilic surface treatments and UV sealing techniques. With a passive-matrix addressing scheme, a reflective electronic paper having 64x64 pixels by particle polarization is realized on a 4 inch by 4 inch panel.Item type:Item, CMOS-Like Ambipolar Organic/Inorganic TFTs for AMLCD and AMOLED Applications(2009) ;Chu, Yi-Hsing ;Wu, Gao-Ming ;Chuang, Chiao-Shun ;Yu, Wei-KuanChen, Fang-ChungAir-stable ambipolar thin-film transistors (TFTs) based on double active layer of pentacene / a-IGZO (amorphous In(2)O(3)Ga(2)O(3)-ZnO) have been fabricated on SiO(2)/p-Si substrates. The a-IGZO exhibits n-channel behavior, while pentacene presents p-channel characteristics. Most n-type organic materials are easily affected by moisture and oxygen, thus the measurement of ambipolar devices in ambience air is difficult. However, a-IGZO not only has outstanding mobility but also has good stability while being measured in ambient air. In our work, a CMOS-like inverter was constructed by using two identical ambipolar transistors and the voltage gain up to 70 was obtained. The inverter can be operated in both the first and the third quadrants simplifying circuit design for AMFPD applications.Item type:Item, DISPLAY(2009-05-28) ;Fan, Shih-Kang ;Chiu, Cheng-Pu ;Mo, Chi-NengChiang, Mei-TsaoA display including a first substrate, a first electrode, a second substrate, a second electrode, and a mixed solution is provided. The first electrode is disposed on the first substrate and the second electrode is disposed on the second substrate. The display material layer is disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode. The display material layer of the invented display includes a solution and a plurality of first micro beads, wherein each of the first micro beads further has a plurality of different axis lengths in different axis directions, and the axis length in at least an axis direction is different from the axis lengths in the rest axis directions so that the first micro beads present different arrangement densities in different driving frequencies under the influence of polarized self-arrangement effect.Item type:Item, DISPLAY MEDIUM AND DISPLAY(2010-04-01) ;Fan, Shih-Kang ;Chiu, Cheng-Pu ;Hsu, Ching-Hsiang ;Chiang, Mei-TsaoMo, Chi-NengA display medium and a display are provided. The display medium includes a thermal-sensitive solution and a number of micro particles. The micro particles are dispersed in the thermal-sensitive solution. At a first temperature, the thermal-sensitive solution is in a liquid form, such that the micro particles move freely. At a second temperature, the thermal-sensitive solution is in a colloid form, such that the micro particles are fixed. The first temperature differs from the second temperature.Item type:Item, Emission Efficiency Dependence on the Tilted Angle of Nanogaps in Surface Conduction Electron-Emitter(2008) ;Li, Yiming ;Kuo, Yi-Ting ;Cheng, Hui-Wen ;Yeh, Ta-ChingLo, Hsiang-YuIn this work, the emission efficiency of the novel surface conduction electron-emitter corresponding to tilted angles (0) of the driving electrode is studied numerically. Due to the small angle, the emitter apex becomes significant and induces large electric field. The large electric field then attracts more particles into vacuum and then increases the emission current. However, the structure of the driving electrode limits the electron trajectory while the angle decreases, and it reflects the portion of collected current by the anode decreases and makes a drop in emission efficiency. It shows there is the highest emission efficiency (about 37%) under an optimum angle theta = 60 degrees. The result provides an insight into the relation between emission efficiency and emitter apex.Item type:Item, Morphology effect on field emission property of carbon nanotube emitters in triode structure(2008) ;Cheng, Hui-Wen ;Yeh, Ta-Ching ;Kuo, Yi-Ting ;Li, YimingLin, Chen-ChunIn this work, process variation on the field emission property of the fabricated field emission (FE) triode arrays with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) as the field emitters are explored. To fabricate the FE triode structure, nanoporous anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) thin layer was first prepared on the Si substrate, followed by the growth of vertically aligned carbon nanotubes in AAO pore channels by electron cyclotron resonance chemical vapor deposition. The SiO2 dielectric and Al gate electrode layers required for the triode structure were directly deposited on the CNTs. Reactive ion and wet etches were then used to open the FE area in the triode. We employ the finite difference time domain particle-in-cell method to calculate the structure FE properly, where the results are calibrated with the collected FE current of the fabricated samples. The FE current Of Structure is then examined with respect to different shape, random height and angle of the CNT emitters. For symmetric shapes, like circle and square, the emission beam has been more focusing than triangle and trapezoid. The electric field of random height of CNTs is stronger than that of random angle. It is implied that the vertical CNTs has better FE property. Having the symmetric shape and vertical CNTs in triode Structure benefits the FE sources for advanced flat display technologies.Item type:Item, PIXEL DRIVING STRUCTURE OF DISPLAYING THREE COLORS OF PARTICLE DISPLAY AND ITS DISPLAYING COLORS METHOD(2010-10-07) ;Fan, Shih-Kang ;Chiu, Cheng-Pu ;Hsu, Ching-Hsiang ;Mo, Chi-NengChiang, Mei-TsaoA pixel driving structure of a particle display displaying three colors and a method for displaying colors thereof are provided.
