Item type:Item, Design and Fabrication of a Near-field Scanning Optical Microscope Probe by CMOS-MEMS(2012) ;Liou, C. H. ;Chiu, Y. ;Shieh, H. P. D. ;Chiou, J. C.電機資訊學士班A near-field scanning optical microscope (NSOM) probe based on CMOS-MEMS technology is proposed. The side pin-hole photodetector and the on-chip transimpedance amplifier were characterized. An optical profile measurement by using the fabricated device was performed.Item type:Item, Development of novel cascade structure for improving stroke of electrostatic comb-drive actuator(2008) ;Chiou, J. C. ;Kuo, C. F. ;Lin, Y. J. ;Chang, C. W.Hou, K. C.In this study, a novel cascade structure for improving the stroke of electrostatic comb-drive actuator is proposed. With the cascade configuration, the stroke can be improving efficiency. The proposed actuators were fabricated through CMOS processes and post-CMOS micromachining steps. Experimental results indicated that the stroke of the lateral and vertical cascade electrostatic comb-drive actuators can be improved 180% and 188% respectively without adding extra driving voltage. These results demonstrated that the proposed cascade configurations have the capability to improve the actuation stroke of electrostatic actuators.Item type:Item, Dual-band loop antenna on soft contact lens for wireless ocular physiological monitoring(2014) ;Luo, C. H. ;Ting, Si Han ;Jeng, Bo Ming ;Chen, Wen ShanChiou, J. C.This paper presents a novel loop antenna operating dual bands for wireless ocular physiological monitoring (WOPM). The proposed antenna is fabricated on a thin-film poly-para-xylylene C (parylene C) substrate with a small thickness of 11 um. The overall dimension of the proposed antenna is suitable to apply in the soft contact lens and to transmit the signal in Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS). To verify the performances of the antenna, measuring pigs\' eyes with instrument, the parameters are similar to human\'s eyes. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed antenna can operate dual bandwidths that cover ISM bands at 2.4 and 5.8 GHz. The simulated radiation patterns at the central frequency of the 2.4 and 5.8 GHz bands show an excellent directional characteristic with gains of -15.3 dBi at 2.45 GHz and -20 dBi at 5.8 GHz.Item type:Item, Surface-Mounted Dry Electrode and Analog-Front-End Systems for Physiological Signal Measurements(2009) ;Chang, C. W. ;Chiou, J. C. ;電控工程研究所Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringIn this paper, we present a new analog-front-end system including surface-mounted dry electrode by MEMS dry electrode (MDE) and instrumentation amplifier by chopper-stabilized differential difference amplifier (CHDDA) for physiological signal recording applications. Comparing to traditional electrodes, proposed MDE shows its superior advantages for low electrode skin interface impedance and need not to use electrolytic gel. Moreover, the measured results of the presented CHDDA demonstrated the low power, denoise capability for physiological signal recording. The full AFE system is 4.5(star)7cm(2) in size, weight 35g and can be operated for 200Hr by 2 AAA batteries. Finally, the actual 4 channel AFE recording of EEG, EOG, ECG and EMG proves the practicability of the proposed system.Item type:Item, The Rectenna Design on Contact Lens for Wireless Powering of the Active Intraocular Pressure Monitoring System(2013) ;Cheng, H. W. ;Jeng, B. M. ;Chen, C. Y. ;Huang, H. Y.Chiou, J. C.This paper proposed a wireless power harvesting system with micro-electro-mechanical-systems (MEMS) fabrication for noninvasive intraocular pressure (IOP) measurement on soft contact lens substructure. The power harvesting IC consists of a loop antenna, an impedance matching network and a rectifier. The proposed IC has been designed and fabricated by CMOS 0.18um process that operates at the ISM band of 5.8 GHz. The antenna and the power harvesting IC would be bonded together by using flip chip bonding technologies without extra wire interference. The circuit utilized an impedance transformation circuit to boost the input RF signal that improves the circuit performance. The proposed design achieves an RF-to-DC conversion efficiency of 35% at 5.8 GHz.Item type:Item, Tilting Motion Control in Narrow Tilting Vehicle Using Double-Loop PID Controller(2009) ;Chiou, J. C. ;Lin, Chun-Ying ;Chen, Chih-Liang ;Chien, Chin-Pin電控工程研究所This paper presents an electric narrow tilting vehicle (NTV), which is named Intelligent Personal Mobility (IPM). It can tilt to prevent from rollover. The tilting control strategy is also proposed and implemented by double-loop PID controller in this paper, the first loop controls the tilting rate, and the second loop which encloses the first loop controls the tilting position. This double-loop PIID controller was verified by working with IPM multibody model which had been verified by comparing with IPM in slalom tests. This approach can be adopted to solve instable problems of the others NTV systems.
