Item type:Item, A 24/60GHz Dual-Band Millimeter-Wave On-Chip Monopole Antenna Fabricated with a 0.13-mu m CMOS Technology(2009) ;Huang, Jie-Huang ;Wu, Jin-Wei ;Chiou, Yi-Lin ;Jou, Christina F.電信工程研究所A 24 / 60GHz dual-band millimeter-wave on-chip antenna fabricated in TSMC 0.13-mu m CMOS process is presented here. We design the feeding network by using the coplanar waveguide (CPW) structure. For the dual-band design, there are two major current paths to radiate. To avoid the harmonic frequency band of the low frequency-band, we add two strips to couple the harmonic frequency of the low frequency-band. Besides, the two strips let the higher frequency-band performance better. At this work, the simulator is based 3-D full-wave EM solver, Ansoft HFSS. The on-chip antenna size is 0.76 x 1.045 mm(2). The bandwidth of the lower band and higher is about 180MHz and 700MHz, respectively. The simulated gain is about -9dB for 24GHz and about 1 dB for 60GHzItem type:Item, A Novel Short Leaky-Wave Antenna for Suppressing the Back Lobes(2009) ;Chiou, Yi-Lin ;Wu, Jin-Wei ;Huang, Jie-Huang ;Jou, Christina F.電信工程研究所A method to suppress the back lobes of a short leaky-wave antenna by two designed considerations is present in this paper. The right triangular end of the LWA is used to reduce the power reflected backwardly and the linked rectangular is guided the remainder power to the ground. With a short LWA length, the back lobes are suppressed successfully both in simulated and measured results at 4.6 and 4.7 GHz. The differences of the gains between the back lobes and main beams are 13.1 dBi and 7.2 dBi at 4.6 and 4.7 GHz, relatively in the measurements. In contrast to the conventional LWA, the proposed short LWA would rather be useful in scanning systems.Item type:Item, A NOVEL SHORT LENGTH HALF-WIDTH MICROSTRIP LEAKY WAVE ANTENNA WITH SUPPRESSED BACK LOBES(2009-12-01) ;Chiou, Yi-Lin ;Wu, Jin-Wei ;Huang, Jie-Huang ;Jou, Christina F.電信工程研究所A novel short half-width microstrip leaky wave antenna (MLWA) with suppressed back lobes is introduced. The design contains an oblique shape termination and a linked square metal with a grounded via hole. The oblique shape termination changes the direction of the reflected wave, and a linked square metal with a grounded via hole guides the remainder power of the reflected wave to the ground plane. As a result, the large back lobe of the short half-width MLWA could be suppressed. The measured results show that the proposed design (length of only 1 lambda(0)) improves the back lobes by 9 dB at 4.7 GHz compared with the original half-width MLWA. (C) 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
