Item type:Item, Capabilities of time-resolved X-ray excited optical luminescence of the Taiwan Photon Source 23A X-ray nanoprobe beamline(2020-01-01) ;Lin, Bi-Hsuan ;Wu, Yu-Hao ;Li, Xiao-Yun ;Hsu, Hsu-ChengChiu, Yu-ChengTime-resolved X-ray excited optical luminescence (TR-XEOL) was developed successfully for the 23A X-ray nanoprobe beamline located at the Taiwan Photon Source (TPS). The advantages of the TR-XEOL facility include (i) a nano-focused X-ray beam (<60 nm) with excellent spatial resolution and (ii) a streak camera that can simultaneously record the XEOL spectrum and decay time. Three time spans, including normal (30 ps to 2 ns), hybrid (30 ps to 310 ns) and single (30 ps to 1.72 mu s) bunch modes, are available at the TPS, which can fulfil different experimental conditions involving samples with various lifetimes. It is anticipated that TR-XEOL at the TPS X-ray nanoprobe could provide great characterization capabilities for investigating the dynamics of photonic materials.Item type:Item, Content Aware Texture Compression(2015-11-01) ;Chiu, Yu-Cheng ;Wang, Yu-Shuen ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceEfficient and high quality texture compression is important because computational powers are always limited, especially for embedded systems such as mobile phones. To access random texels instantly, down sampling and S3TC are the most commonly used methods due to the fixed compression ratio at every local region. However, the methods are content oblivious, which uniformly discard texel information. Therefore, we present content aware warp to reduce a texture resolution, where homogeneous regions are squeezed more to retain more structural information. We then relocate texture coordinates of the 3D model as the way of relocating texels, such that rendering the model with our compressed texture requires no additional decompression cost. Our texture compression technique can cooperate with existing methods such as S3TC since the compression strategies are independent. By reducing texture resolution in a content aware manner, followed by texture compression using S3TC, as the experiments show, we achieve higher compression ratios without degrading visual quality significantly.Item type:Item, Electrospun Fibers as a Solid-State Real-Time Zinc Ion Sensor with High Sensitivity and Cell Medium Compatibility(2013-03-25) ;Syu, Jia-Hao ;Cheng, Yi-Kai ;Hong, Wun-Yan ;Wang, Hsing-PingLin, Yu-Chaomeso-2,6-Dichlorophenyltripyrrinone (TPN-Cl2), a probe molecule for zinc II ions, is dispersed in a polymer host. The red fluorescence peak at 620 nm appears when the molecule forms a complex with zinc at its center. TPN-Cl2 has a high selectivity for zinc II and tolerates many common metal ions present in the human body. The probe molecules are blended with a hydrogel polymer, poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (poly HEMA), with 30 wt% dimethylformamide (DMF). The fiber structure with 1 m diameter is made by electrospinning in DMF solution of the probe and poly HEMA mixture. The fibrous film detects zinc ions with concentrations as low as 106 M in real-time both in water and in the commonly used cell culture liquid media Dulbecco's modified Eagle medium (DMEM) and fetal bovine serum (FBS), which contain many metal ions and proteins. The time-resolution is 5 min for 106 M and 1 min for 105 M. This sensitivity and response speed satisfy the requirements for non-invasive biomedical studies.
