Item type:Item, Enhanced Carrier Collection and Light Harvesting of Polymer Solar Cells Using Embedded Indium-Tin-Oxide Nano-Electrods(2010) ;Hsu, Min-Hsiang ;Chang, Chia-Hau ;Huang, Jen-Hsien ;Chu, Chi-WeiYu, PeichenDistinctive indium-tin-oxide (ITO) nanorods are employed to serve as buried electrodes for polymer-based solar cells. The embedded nano-electrodes allow three-dimensional conducting pathways for low-mobility holes, offering a highly scaffolded cell architecture in addition to bulk heterojunctions. As a result, the power conversion efficiency and photocurrent of a polymer cell with ITO nano-electrodes demonstrates an enhancement factor of up to similar to 13.1% and 10% respectively, compared to a conventional cell. Furthermore, ITO nanostructures improved optical absorption not only for a wide range of wavelengths, but also at large angles of incidence (AOIs). Hence, devices with 3-D nanoelectrodes exhibited nearly ideal angular response of J(sc), implying great potentials for polymer or other thin-film solar cells.Item type:Item, Modified buffer layers for polymer photovoltaic devices(2007-02-05) ;Ko, Chu-Jung ;Lin, Yi-Kai ;Chen, Fang-Chung ;Chu, Chi-Wei光電工程學系The influence of anode buffer layers on the performance of polymer photovoltaic devices based on blends of poly(3-hexylthiophene) and [6,6]-phenyl-C-61-buytyric acid methyl ester has been investigated. The buffer layers consist of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT-PSS) doped with different concentrations of mannitol. Improved power conversion efficiency, up to 5.2%, has been observed by reducing the resistance of PEDOT:PSS after doping. One extrapolation method has been developed to exclude the resistance from the connection of the electrodes from the total device resistance. The results confirm that the device improvement is due to the reduction of series resistance of the PEDOT:PSS after the mannitol doping. With the advantage of the shorter channel, the OBMTs can be operated under lower voltages and faster frequencies. The inverter is fabricated using the OBMT connected with a resistor in series.
