Item type:Item, AN EMPIRICAL STRENGTH CRITERION FOR JET GROUTED SOILCRETE(1994-09-01) ;FANG, YS ;LIAO, JJ ;SZE, SC ;交大名義發表土木工程學系Based on experimental data, this paper presents an empirical strength criterion for jet grouted soilcrete. Cylindrical specimens drilled from construction sites were tested to investigate the strength characteristics of soilcrete. Experiments conducted include the uniaxial compression test, Brazilian test and the triaxial compression test. It was found that soilcrete density increases with increasing depth. The uniaxial compressive strengths obtained were significantly greater than the design values suggested by the JSG Association of Japan. Experimental Poisson's ratios varied from 0.12 to 0.22, which are closer to that for concrete than that for native soil. Based on test results, a parabolic-type empirical criterion tau(ff) = N.sigma(ff) + T(o))M is proposed to describe the strength behaviour of soilcrete under low and tensile stress regions.Item type:Item, AN ESTIMATION OF GROUND SETTLEMENT DUE TO SHIELD TUNNELING BY THE PECK-FUJITA METHOD(1994-06-01) ;FANG, YS ;LIN, JS ;SU, CS ;交大名義發表土木工程學系In this paper, an empirical method based on Peck and Fujita's study is proposed to estimate the magnitude and extent of surface settlement associated with shield tunnelling. It is found that the ground-settlement curves calculated with the proposed method for various types of shields, ground conditions, tunnel diameters, and depths are in reasonably good agreement with field measurements. For open shields tunnelled through clayey soils, the stability ratio has a significant influence on the surface settlement induced. Field measurement data suggest that the Peck-Fujita method may be used to estimate the ground subsidence associated with the construction of parallel tunnels.Item type:Item, GROUTING TO REDUCE GROUND SETTLEMENTS DUE TO SHIELD TUNNELLING(1992) ;FANG, YS ;PAN, MD ;LIN, GJ ;土木工程學系Department of Civil EngineeringItem type:Item, KA AND KO BEHIND ROTATING AND NON-YIELDING WALLS - CLOSURE(1985) ;SHERIF, MA ;FANG, YS ;SHERIF, RI ;土木工程學系Department of Civil EngineeringItem type:Item, MECHANICAL-PROPERTIES OF JET GROUTED SOILCRETE(1994-08-01) ;FANG, YS ;LIAO, JJ ;LIN, TK ;交大名義發表土木工程學系To investigate the mechanical properties of jet grouted soilcrete, uniaxial compression tests, Brazilian tests and ultrasonic tests were conducted on a number of samples. It was found that the uniaxial compressive strength, modulus of elasticity, failure strain, tensile strength and P-wave velocity of soilcrete increase with increasing dry density. Dry density should be one of the critical criteria to control the quality of jet grouting. Significant variation of strength was monitored for soilcrete from the same depth because of the non-uniform mix of soil and grout with a high-pressure jet. The maximum axial and lateral strain at failure were found to be 0.62% and 0.20%, respectively. These values are relatively close to the failure strains for concrete, rather than for soil. The Brazilian tensile strength varied between 1/10 and 1/30 of the uniaxial compressive strength.Item type:Item, PASSIVE EARTH PRESSURES WITH VARIOUS WALL MOVEMENTS(1994-08-01) ;FANG, YS ;CHEN, TJ ;WU, BF ;交大名義發表土木工程學系This paper presents experimental data of earth pressure acting against a vertical rigid wall, which moved into a mass of dry sand with a stress-free horizontal surface under various wall-movement modes. To investigate the variation of earth pressure induced by the rotation about a point above the top (RTT) and rotation about a point below the wall base (RBT) types of wall movement, the instrumented retaining-wall facility was developed at National Chiao Tung University. Based on experimental data it is found that, for a wall under translational movement, the passive pressure distribution is linear and in good agreement with Terzaghi's prediction based on the general wedge theory. For a wall under either RTT or RBT mode, the magnitude of passive thrust and its point of application are significantly affected by the mode of wall displacement. However, if the parameter n indicating location of the center of rotation is greater than 2.0, the influence of movement mode on passive earth pressure becomes less important.Item type:Item, STATIC EARTH PRESSURES WITH VARIOUS WALL MOVEMENTS(1986-03-01) ;FANG, YS ;ISHIBASHI, I ;土木工程學系Department of Civil Engineering
