Item type:Item, A bionic approach to mathematical modeling the fold geometry of deployable reflector antennas on satellites(2014-10-01) ;Feng, C. M. ;Liu, T. S. ;交大名義發表 ;機械工程學系National Chiao Tung UniversityInspired from biology, this study presents a method for designing the fold geometry of deployable reflectors. Since the space available inside rockets for transporting satellites with reflector antennas is typically cylindrical in shape, and its cross-sectional area is considerably smaller than the reflector antenna after deployment, the cross-sectional area of the folded reflector must be smaller than the available rocket interior space. Membrane reflectors in aerospace are a type of lightweight structure that can be packaged compactly. To design membrane reflectors from the perspective of deployment processes, bionic applications from morphological changes of plants are investigated. Creating biologically inspired reflectors, this paper deals with fold geometry of reflectors, which imitate flower buds. This study uses mathematical formulation to describe geometric profiles of flower buds. Based on the formulation, new designs for deployable membrane reflectors derived from bionics are proposed. Adjusting parameters in the formulation of these designs leads to decreases in reflector area before deployment. (C) 2014 IAA. Published by Elsevier Ltd. S. ;機械工程學系Department of Mechanical EngineeringThe objective of this paper is to present an exhaustive search method for designing new deployable mechanisms of reflector antennas. The procedure is based on the graph theory and a flow value method. The mechanism is composed of links and joints. Connections between links are represented by using the graph theory. Rules representing design criteria and the flow value method based on load flow are taken into account to evaluate and select mechanisms among those that are enumerated in the database. Finally, this study presents a deployable mechanism that transmits load the most efficiently. (C) 2013 IAA. Published by Elsevier Ltd. W. ;運輸與物流管理系 註:原交通所+運管所Department of Transportation and Logistics ManagementProviding more applicable information contents in terms of drivers' opinions can effectively stimulate drivers' en-route switching behavior. This study applied the ordered probit model (OPM) to analyze various information scenarios that may affect drivers' en-route switching behavior with considering latent variables. Empirical findings indicate that the drivers' perceived value and usage attitude toward received information would positively motivate their switching willingness, while their switching barrier and congestion tolerability would negatively restrict them. Drivers would unlikely comply with diversion suggestion due to their negative latent variables toward immature information contents, therefore, several hypothetical information scenarios are proposed to enhance their switching intention. The results showed that the freeway drivers' en-route switching behavior in Taiwan has increased while providing more detailed information both on the regular and alternative routes.Item type:Item, Local development impact assessment for a high speed rail system: a Taiwan study(2008-01-01) ;Lin, J. J. ;Feng, C. M. ;Huang, L. C. ;運輸與物流管理系 註:原交通所+運管所Department of Transportation and Logistics ManagementThe Taiwan high speed rail (HSR) system has been in commercial operation since January 2007. Based on the experience of previous freeway development in the area, HSR has the potential to significantly influence local development in western Taiwan. This study focused on the impact of the Taiwan HSR system on local development. Simultaneous equation modeling was applied to analyze the associations among development sectors, and is calibrated using samples of 323 villages, towns or cities in Taiwan. The calibrated model is used as a basis for analyzing and discussing the influences of improving accessibility, increasing land supply for urban development, and various other strategies related to the HSR system. This work reached the following conclusions: improving accessibility and increasing urban development land supply influences local population and employment distributions; improving connections between HSR stations and the central city benefits the development of the central city rather than HSR station area; improving connections between HSR stations and individual districts within the metropolitan area increases the HSR service area and balances development among districts, and promoting station area development projects contributes significantly to local development.Item type:Item, Modeling the Determinants of Logistics Service Quality on Retailing Delivery Service for Online Shopping(2007-01-01) ;Huang, Y. K. ;Feng, C. M. ;運輸與物流管理系 註:原交通所+運管所Department of Transportation and Logistics ManagementIn the logistics system of electronic commerce, the major difference between Taiwan and other countries is the retailing delivery (RD) system. Delivering consistently good service quality is difficult but profitable for logistics organizations. This paper explores the structure of logistic for RD service for electronic commerce. Drawing upon a sample of 135 users of retailing delivery and working within the framework of confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), this study examines the structure of the logistics service quality (LSQ). Finally, this study used Importance-Performance analysis (IPA) to discuss the relations of level of customers' expected logistics service quality and level of customers' perceived logistics serviced quality, implications of these results for practice and research are provided.
