Item type:Item, DEMONSTRATION OF IN-SERVICE SUPERVISORY REPEATERLESS BIDIRECTIONAL WAVELENGTH-DIVISION-MULTIPLEXING TRANSMISSION-SYSTEM(1995-09-01) ;CHEN, YK ;GUO, WY ;CHI, S ;WAY, WI電信研究中心An in-service supervisory repeaterless bidirectional wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) transmission system using optical fiber amplifiers is demonstrated for the first time. The system supervision by an optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) is achieved without degrading the 2.5 Gb/s service over a bidirectional six-WDM-channel 200-km single-fiber link, Negligible system penalties of dispersion and counter-directional transmission crosstalk are observed.Item type:Item, HIGH-SPEED BIDIRECTIONAL 4-CHANNEL OPTICAL FDM-NCFSK TRANSMISSION USING AN ER-3+-DOPED FIBER AMPLIFIER(1993-02-01) ;GUO, WY ;CHEN, YK ;光電工程學系Department of PhotonicsA four-channel optical FDM-NCFSK bidirectional transmission experiment using an Er3+-doped fiber amplifier at 1.7 Gb/s for 100 km fiber length is demonstrated. Using commercial DFB LDs, a received power of -35 dBm at 10(-9) BER is obtained, and the dispersion degradation over 100 km bidirectional transmission is negligible. With channel spacing of about 30 GHz, the differential power penalty is about 0.1 dB.Item type:Item, IN-SERVICE SUPERVISORY EDFA-REPEATED WAVELENGTH-DIVISION MULTIPLEXING TRANSMISSION-SYSTEM(1995-08-01) ;CHEN, YK ;GUO, WY ;WAY, WI ;CHI, S光電工程學系An in-service supervisory wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) transmission system is demonstrated for the first time. Simultaneous fault location and EDFA status-monitoring are achieved without degrading the 2.5 Gb/s service in a five-EDFA, 365-km, four-WDM-channel system.Item type:Item, LOSSLESS WIDE-BAND REFLECTIVE STAR COUPLER USING ERBIUM-DOPED FIBER AMPLIFIERS(1994-12-01) ;ZENG, JY ;GUO, WY ;CHEN, YK ;光電工程學系Department of PhotonicsA wide-band 64-port amplified reflective star coupler (ARSC) using eight fiber amplifiers and only four pump laser diodes is demonstrated, The loss of this ARSC can be fully compensated from 1530 nm to 1565 nm due to its double-pass amplification process, The power margin increment of 21.7 dB with the power penalty of 1.3 dB and the cross-channel power penalty of 2 dB are achieved in a 1.7 Gb/s system experiment, This ARSC technology makes the star coupler cost-effective to be used in many larger wavelength division multiple access networks.Item type:Item, SIMULTANEOUS IN-SERVICE FAULT-LOCATING AND EDFA-MONITORING SUPERVISORY TRANSMISSION IN EDFA-REPEATERED SYSTEMS(1994-12-08) ;CHEN, YK ;GUO, WY ;WAY, WI ;CHI, S光電工程學系In-service WDM-based supervisory transmission in four/five EDFA-repeater 375km/365km systems is demonstrated. Simultaneous EDFA status-monitoring and fibre fault location are achieved without degrading the 2.5Gbit/s service.Item type:Item, WIDE-BAND 32X32 STAR COUPLER MODULE WITH GAIN(1993-09-30) ;GUO, WY ;CHEN, YK ;ZENG, JY ;CHI, S光電工程學系A wideband 32 x 32 star coupler module using two fibre amplifiers is presented. Not only can the loss of this module be fully compensated for but also it has better loss uniformity. The power margin increment of 18dB is achieved with this module in a 1.7 Gbit/s system experiment.
