Item type:Item, Bidirectional free space optical communication (FSO) in WDM access network with 1000-m supportable free space link(2019-03-15) ;Yeh, Chien-Hung ;Guo, Bo-Shen ;Chang, Yao-Jen ;Chow, Chi-WaiGu, Chong-SinIn this demonstration, we propose and investigate experimentally a bidirectional wavelength-division-multiplexed (WDM) free space optical communication (FSO) system integrated with fiber access network for wireless traffics. Here, there are four 10 Gbit/s on-off keying (OOK) WDM-FSO signals would propagate through a 25 km single-mode fiber (SMF) transmission and a 6 m free space transmission length for the bidirectional downstream and upstream FSO traffics. Moreover, an accurately simulation of detected powers of FSO wavelength under different free space transmission lengths can be estimated based on the proposed WDM-FSO system architecture. Therefore, according to the experimental and simulated results, the bidirectional WDM-FSO transmission can achieve 1000 m free space transmission length based on the obtained power sensitivity of each FSO signal.Item type:Item, Hybrid free space optical communication system and passive optical network with high splitting ratio for broadcasting data traffic(2018-11-01) ;Yeh, Chien-Hung ;Gu, Chong-Sin ;Guo, Bo-Shen ;Chang, Yao-JenChow, Chi-WaiIn this paper, we propose and demonstrate a free space optical (FSO) communication system with 10 Gbit s(-1) on-off keying traffic, which is integrated in a passive optical network (PON) for broadcasting wireless data. After a transmission distance of 25 km of single-mode fiber and a free space transmission length of 6 m, the observed optical sensitivity of the FSO signal can reach -35.2 dBm within the forward error correction level at the bit error ratio of 3.8 x 10(-3) . Here, according to the obtained results of experiment and simulation, the FSO signal can support 2048 remote optical wireless units (OWUs) for wireless access via the PON network in free space transmission lengths of 0 to 160 m. Moreover, the proposed FSO-PON system also can support 1024, 512 and 256 remote OWUs in free space transmission lengths of 250, 350 and 500 m, respectively.Item type:Item, Use of Same WDM Channels in Fiber Network for Bidirectional Free Space Optical Communication With Rayleigh Backscattering Interference Alleviation(2019-01-01) ;Yeh, Chien-Hung ;Guo, Bo-Shen ;Gu, Chong-Sin ;Chow, Chi-WaiLin, Wen-PiaoIn the paper, we present and demonstrate experimentally a 10 Gbit/s on-off keying (OOK) bidirectional wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) free space optical (FSO) communication architecture integrated in fiber network together with 5 m free space transmission length and 25 km fiber link, respectively. To achieve bidirectional FSO link, the all WDM wavelengths can be used simultaneously to serve as the downstream and upstream traffics in the proposed FSO-WDM system. Here, four pairs of line terminations (LTs) and optical wireless units (OWUs) are integrated arbitrarily in fiber access network for confidential and bidirectional FSO connection based on the requirement of practical environment. In the measurement, the relationship of FSO signal performance and detected tolerance are also discussed and analyzed. Moreover, the WDM-FSO transmission can also avoid the Rayleigh backscattering (RB) beat noise in fiber connection.Item type:Item, Use of Same WDM Channels in Fiber Network for Bidirectional Free Space Optical Communication With Rayleigh Backscattering Interference Alleviation(2019-01-01) ;Yeh, Chien-Hung ;Guo, Bo-Shen ;Gu, Chong-Sin ;Chow, Chi-WaiLin, Wen-PiaoIn the paper, we present and demonstrate experimentally a 10 Gbit/s on-off keying (OOK) bidirectional wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) free space optical (FSO) communication architecture integrated in fiber network together with 5 m free space transmission length and 25 km fiber link, respectively.
