Item type:Item, Analysis of a novel flexure hinge with three degrees of freedom(2001-02-01) ;Hsiao, FZ ;Lin, TW ;機械工程學系Department of Mechanical EngineeringThe flexure hinge is widely used as the mechanism for a high precision positioning stage with a micrometer or nanometer resolution. In this article we propose a novel flexure hinge with three degrees of freedom in which the motions are restricted in the same plane. An analysis model is developed to analyze the flexure hinge. The results obtained are consistent with those of the finite element method. A characteristic study using the proposed model shows that this flexure hinge has a feature of linear load displacement. In addition, the most effective way to change the stiffness of this flexure hinge is to modify the notch's radius. A prototype of this novel flexure hinge has been manufactured and the measured characteristics prove the advantages of this proposed model. Many aspects of designing magnetic bearings are discussed, e.g. the selection of a permanent magnet material, dimensions of electromagnets and permanent magnets, gap length, load capacity and maximum Ampere-turns. Linearization and DC current driver are the two constraints for determining feasible designs. According to an analytical model with a rigid body assumption for the rotor-bearing system, a decentralized output feedback control algorithm is employed to control this inherently unstable magnetic suspension rotor system. Experimental results indicate that the controlled rotor performs well at rotor speeds up to 12,000 rpm. In conventional designs, we usually first design a feasible bearing, and then investigate these three limitations. Unfortunately, one usually fails to design the most suitable magnetic bearing in actual cases. In this paper, a methodology for dealing with the performance limitations through the concept of optimum design is presented. The objective functions are to maximize the force slew rate limitation and to minimize the displacement sensitivity under several design constraints. Using the optimization solver software package, we developed a systematic method for determining the characteristics of magnetic hearings. By considering the performance limitations and design constraints, we achieve a better design than that produced using the conventional trial-and-error method.
