Item type:Item, An overview of the effect of lubricant on the heat transfer performance on conventional refrigerants and natural refrigerant R-744(2012-09-01) ;Wang, Chi-Chuan ;Hafner, Armin ;Kuo, Cheng-Shu ;Hsieh, Wen-Der機械工程學系This review provides an overview of the lubricant on the heat transfer performance, including nucleate boiling, convective boiling, shell side condensation, forced convective condensation, and gas cooling, for conventional refrigerants and natural refrigerant R-744. Various parameters affecting the heat transfer coefficient subject to lubricant, such as oil concentration, heat flux, mass flux, vapor quality, geometric configuration, saturation temperature, thermodynamic and transport properties are discussed in this overview. It appears that the effect of individual parameter on the Prod. Type: FTP heat transfer coefficient may be different from studies to studies. This is associated with the complex nature of lubricant and some compound effect accompanying with the heat transport process. In this review, the authors try to summarize the general trend of the lubricant on the heat transfer coefficient, and to elaborate discrepancies of some inconsistent studies. The lubricant can, increase or impair the heat transfer performance depending on the oil concentration, surface tension, surface geometry, and the like. For the condensation, it is more well accepted that the presence of lubricant normally will impair the heat transfer performance due to deposited oil film. However, the deterioration is comparatively smaller than that in nucleate/convective boiling. For the effect of lubricant on R-744 with convective evaporation, the general behavior is in line with the convectional refrigerant. For gas cooling, the lubricant cast significant effect on heat transfer coefficient especially for a higher mass flux or at a smaller diameter tube. (c) 2012 Elsevier Ltd. It appears that the effect of individual parameter on the heat transfer coefficient may be different from study to study. This is associated with the complex nature of lubricant and some compound effects accompanying the heat transport process. Some important effects such as oil concentration, heat flux, geometric configuration, saturation temperature, thermodynamic and transport properties, miscibility, foaming, and additional surface active agent are reported and discussed. In general, the heat transfer coefficient is impaired provided the oil concentration is sufficient high (e.g., >7%), and this is applicable to smooth and structured tubes. But normally structured tubes tend to suffer more from lubricant, yet this is especially conspicuous when the size of the reentrant channel is small. On the other hand, foaming and partial miscibility seem to benefit the heat transfer coefficient.Item type:Item, Modeling and simulation of the transcritical CO2 heat pump system(2013-12-01) ;Lin, Kai-Hsiang ;Kuo, Cheng-Shu ;Hsieh, Wen-Der ;Wang, Chi-Chuan機械工程學系In this study, a CO2 transcritical cycle model without imposing any excessive constraints such as fixed discharge pressure and suction pressure is developed. The detailed geometrical variation of the gas cooler and the evaporator have been taken into account. The model is validated with the experimental measurements. Parametric influences on the CO2 system with regard to the effect of dry bulb temperature, relative humidity, inlet water temperature, compressor speed, and the capillary tube length are reported. The COP increases with the dry bulb temperature or the inlet relative humidity of the evaporator. Despite the refrigerant mass flowrate may be increased with the inlet water temperature, the COP declines considerably with it. Increasing the compressor speed leads to a higher heating capacity and to a much lower COP. Unlike those of the conventional sub-critical refrigerant, the COP of the transcritical CO2 cycle does not reveal a maximum value against the capillary tube length. (C) 2013 Elsevier Ltd and IIR.
