Item type:Item, A Wideband DVB Forked Shape Monopole Antenna With Coupling Effect for USB Dongle Application(2010-09-01) ;Hsu, Cho-Kang ;Chung, Shyh-Jong ;電信工程研究所Institute of Communications EngineeringA novel wide-band printed antenna, named forked shape monopole antenna (FSMA), is proposed. The forked shape line structure is introduced to create a capacitive coupling effect to reduce the antenna size and enhance the impedance bandwidth. The proposed antenna is to be applied in a compact USB dongle. And it is designed for the reception of the digital video broadcasting (DVB) signal in the 470 similar to 860 MHz frequency band. In addition to the DVB application, the upper band limit of the FSMA even can be extended from 860 MHz to 1142 MHz, suitable for use in the Global System for Mobil Communication (GSM850/900). By employing the branched-line and forked shape configurations, an antenna with 86% impedance bandwidth (SWR < 2.5) is provided. A prototype of the FSMA was constructed and demonstrated. Measured and simulated results for the FSMA alone and with real application on a laptop computer are obtained.Item type:Item, Compact Antenna With U-Shaped Open-End Slot Structure for Multi-Band Handset Applications(2014-02-01) ;Hsu, Cho-Kang ;Chung, Shyh-Jong ;電信工程研究所Institute of Communications EngineeringThis communication proposes a compact U-shaped slot antenna with a coupling feed for 4G handset applications. The antenna is composed of a simple open-end U-shaped slot and a feeding line with an antenna area of 58 mm 12 mm. Two types of resonant modes are excited, including slot mode and monopole mode. Parametric studies on the slot geometry have been demonstrated. By controlling the related parameters, the bandwidth of this antenna can potentially cover the mobile bands of LTE Band 12 (698-742 MHz)/DCS (1710-1880 MHz)/PCS (1850-1990 MHz)/UMTS (1920-2170 MHz)/LTE Band 40 (2300-2400 MHz)/Band 41 (2496-2690 MHz)/Band 42 (3400-3600 MHz)/Band 43 (3600-3800 MHz). Good radiation characteristics, like gain and radiation efficiency are obtained over these operating bands. This antenna is suitable for the metal casing of handheld devices.Item type:Item, Compact Multiband Antenna for HandsetsWith a Conducting Edge(2015-11-01) ;Hsu, Cho-Kang ;Chung, Shyh-Jong ;電信工程研究所Institute of Communications EngineeringThis communication proposes a compact multiband antenna fed by microstrip coupling for handsets with conducting edge applications. The antenna is composed of a U-shaped loop, an inserted open-end T-shaped slot, and a feed line with a compact antenna area. Three types of resonant modes are excited, namely loop mode, slot mode, and monopole mode. Parametric studies have been performed. After the related parameters are controlled, the bandwidth of this antenna has the potential to cover the mobile bands of GSM (824-960 MHz), DCS (1710-1880 MHz), PCS (1850-1990 MHz), UMTS (1920-2170 MHz), LTE bands (FDD-LTE bands 1-10, 15, 16, 18-20, 22, 23, 25-27, and 30 and TDD-LTE bands 33-43). Good radiation characteristics, such as gain and radiation efficiency, are obtained with these operating bands. In addition, the structure of the inserted slot antenna reduced the user\'s hand effects on the radiation efficiency.
