Item type:Item, Analysis of Causal Relationships between Blog Design Criteria(2011) ;Hsu, Chun-Cheng ;傳播與科技學系Department of Communication and TechnologyThere are numerous excellent studies devoted to blog design; however few of these can explain the interaction between evaluation criteria in a systematic way. The purpose of this study is to explore the causal relationships between the criteria for blog design. Since design is a multiple criteria decision-making problem, this study uses the Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory method (DEMATEL). The DEMATEL method is used to simplify and visualize the interrelationships between criteria in making a decision. This study adopted seven important criteria that influence blog design: Aesthetic Layout, Multiple Layout Style Choice, Ease of Management, Ease of Registration, Storage Capacity, System Stability, Friendliness to Beginners. According to the results of DEMATEL analysis, the impact-relations map was obtained. The author hopes that this study will make a useful contribution to better understanding blog design.Item type:Item, Effects of Object Category and Visual Representations on Recognition Accuracy(2019-09-01) ;Hsu, Chun-Cheng ;應用藝術研究所Institute of Applied ArtsItem type:Item, Evaluation criteria for blog design and analysis of causal relationships using factor analysis and DEMATEL(2012-01-01) ;Hsu, Chun-Cheng ;傳播與科技學系Department of Communication and TechnologyThe purpose of this study is to find the key factors influencing blog design, and explore the causal relationships between the criteria for each factor. Since design is a multiple criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem, this study adopts a model which is a hybrid of factor analysis and the Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory method (DEMATEL). The DEMATEL method is used to simplify and visualize the interrelationships between criteria in making a decision. This study found five core factors that influence blog design: visual clarity, interface and usability, content and searchability, programming, and sociability. In addition, the key criteria for each factor were identified and the impact-relation maps obtained. The results of this study can provide useful guidance to blog designers for developing better blog platforms. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ltd. The aim of this research is to explore the critical factors influencing the quality of blog interfaces and the causal relationships between these factors, enabling blog interfaces to be designed more effectively. Using an approach combining a focus group and the Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL), this study defined eight factors in four dimensions that influence blog interface quality. The results of the DEMATEL analysis identify the key causal factors and effect factors, as well as the causal relationships between the eight factors via the impact-relations map. The research also indicates the most critical causal factors that bloggers and developers should focus on, in order to most effectively improve the quality and attractiveness of blog interfaces.Item type:Item, Exploring the Elements and Design Criteria of Massively-Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) Interfaces(2009) ;Hsu, Chun-Cheng ;Chen, Elvis Chih-Hsien ;傳播與科技學系Department of Communication and TechnologyA great many people play online games and sales of online games are considerable, but research has further shown that a major reason behind the failure of games in the market is poor user interface design or usability, highlighting even more the importance of these issues in games design. This research uses surveys and focus groups to explore the factors influencing the usability and interface design of online games. First the definition and different types of game are discussed, and then the composition and features of online game interfaces analyzed. Second, a review is made of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) research literature relating to design criteria for game interfaces. Finally, in discussion with experts, this study isolates the design criteria that should be emphasized when designing each key element of an online game interface.Item type:Item, Little Hero Wins the Masks Virtual Reality Creation of Taiwanese Classic Comics(2018-01-01) ;Hsu, Chun-Cheng ;Lee, Chun-I ;Li, Yu-Cheng ;應用藝術研究所Institute of Applied ArtsTaiwanese comics artist Hung-Chia Yeh created martial arts comic series "Little Hero" in 1958. Little Hero was later super famous in 1960s. However, Taiwanese comics culture has declined due to various historical background, which caused younger generation know little about Taiwanese comics. We did this derivative work with VR and AR technology based on one of the classic story in Little Hero called "Little Hero Wins the Masks" The features of this work are: (1) Develop the technology that connect VR and interactive game table together to improve the insufficiency of sociability in VR games; (2) The feedback of handheld controller and the game card of interactive game table are designed to improve interactivity in the game (See Figure 1).Item type:Item, Relationship between eye fixation patterns and Kansei evaluation of 3D chair forms(2017-12-01) ;Hsu, Chun-Cheng ;Fann, Shih-Cheng ;Chuang, Ming-Chuen ;應用藝術研究所Institute of Applied ArtsUnderstanding how to induce Kansei (emotion or affect) in consumers through form is critical in product design and development. Conventional Kansei evaluations, which involve subjectively evaluating the overall form of a product, do not clarify the effects of the individual parts of a product on people's Kansei evaluation. A microscale analysis of eye movement of people looking at product form may redeem this flaw in subjective evaluation. However, simultaneously recording eye movement when people making Kansei evaluation is challenging, previous studies have typically investigated either the relationship between form and eye movement or the relationship between form and Kansei separately. The eye movement of people while performing Kansei evaluations on product forms still has not been clarified. To address this issue, the present study used an eye tracking system to analyze the changes in the fixation points of people performing various Kansei evaluations. Twenty participants were recruited for 8 Kansei evaluations on the form of 16 chairs by using the semantic differential (SD) rating, while their eye movements on these evaluations were tracked simultaneously. Through factor analysis on the data of Kansei evaluations, two principal factors, valence (pleasure) and arousal, were extracted from the 8 Kansei scales to constitute a Kansei plane which is compatible to Russell's circumplex model (plane) of affect By adopting the factor scores of the 16 chairs as coordinates, the 16 chairs were mapped into the Kansei plane. Further analysis on the eye fixation on the chairs located in this plane concluded the following results: (a) Pleasure had a more significant effect on the participants' visual attention compared to arousal; the participants required more fixation points when evaluating the chair form that induced displeasure. (b) The participants typically fixated on two parts of the chairs during their Kansei evaluations, namely the seat and the backrest, indicating that seats and backrests are the two primary features people consider when evaluating chairs. The results clarify the effect of various Kansei on eye movements; thereby enable predicting people's Kansei evaluations of product forms through analyzing their eye movement. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. This study consolidates and extracts 12 main mobile security and antivirus features out of the top 25 MSA vendors to find out how users evaluate and classify quality attributes for these features with the Kano Model two-dimensional questionnaire. The analysis result shows that all features could be classified as either one-dimensional or indifferent quality. These 12 features could be further grouped into 5 quality types (O, OA, OI, IO and I) based on SI and DSI values assigned to each feature for its impact on customer satisfaction. Overall, the top four features with greater impact on customer satisfaction are "malware prevention", "safe browsing", "parental control" and "privacy protection". The MSA vendors should emphasize these 4 features. The "secure app advisor" and "app lock" may enjoy less attention as they bear little impact on customer satisfaction. The "data backup", "garbage file cleanup", "Wi-Fi security", "message and call filter", "remote wipe" and "remote lock and locate" have the higher impact on increasing customer satisfaction than reducing dissatisfaction. For MSA vendors with above average quality, they have to put more design efforts on these features to gain more customer satisfaction. Female users pay more attention to "remote lock and locate" and "Wi-Fi security" while users with little technological knowledge focus on "garbage file cleanup", "remote lock and locate" and "secure app advisor". Bloggers place great emphasis on the visual interface of blogs, and both usability and affective factors are important considerations for a successful blog. This study aims to determine major dimensions influencing user affective responses to personalized blog interfaces, and the corresponding design factors that bloggers or platform developers may apply to effectively manipulate them. This study used the Affective/Kansei Engineering approach and two multidimensional scaling algorithms to evaluate the affective responses of users. In conclusion, this study first defined the three dimensions of an affective perceptual space, and their corresponding design factors and affective responses. Secondly, it investigated the relationship between the visual features of 18 typical blogs and the 12 typical affective response vectors in this space. This study also discussed blog interface design guidelines for bloggers and developers. These findings highlight the application potential for developing customized blog template or automated database template generation systems.
