Item type:Item, A High-Performance Nanocomposite Material Based on Functionalized Carbon Nanotube and Polymer for Gas Sensing Applications(2009) ;Wang, L. C. ;Tang, K. T. ;Kuo, C. T. ;Yang, S. R.Sung, YuhThe aim of this study is to develop a novel chemical gas sensing nanocomposite material. The traditional use for carbon nanotube in gas sensing polymer is to increase the composite's conductivity. However, we added functionalized carbon nanotube to fill the free volume of the sensing polymer films and enhance the gas absorption/desorption response time of these nanocomposites. These sensing materials were prepared by mixing functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) and Poly (n, n dimethylamino propylsilsequioxane) SXNR polymer. These new materials were coated on the Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) device, which is expected to increase its sensitivity in analyzing specific classes of vapors. The proposed materials showed an enhanced sensitivity upon exposure to ethanol and dimethyl methylphosphonate (Dmmp) vapors. Additionally, the performances of our nanocomposite film are much higher than those polymers without functionalized carbon nanotubes.Item type:Item, Synthesis, Pore Morphology, and Dielectric Property of Mesoporous Low-k Material PSMSQ using a Reactive High-Temperature Porogen, TEPSS(2011) ;Chiu, S. -Y. ;Hsu, H. L. ;Che, M. L. ;Leu, J.材料科學與工程學系A high-temperature reactive porogen, triethoxy(polystyrene) silane (TEPSS) (M-w=3,500 g/mole), suitable for late-porogen removal integration scheme has been synthesized in p-xylene via atom transfer radical polymerization. TEPSS was then grafted onto poly(methyl-silsesquioxane) (MSQ) matrix (k=2.9) to circumvent possible phase separation between matrix and porogen in the hybrid approach and porogen aggregation. Our results shows porous low-k MSQ films possess uniform pore size, 24 nm for porosity up to 40%, primarily due to low PDI and reactive porogen, and the dielectric constant is decreased to 2.37 at 40% porosity. In addition, less porogen aggregation was observed at porogen loading similar to 40 v%.
