Item type:Item, Electroencephalogram Signal Detection with Smart Phone Applications(2015) ;Huang, Wei-Hsin ;Yang, Chia-Hao ;Hsu, Terng-Ren ;Fan, Ching-Chih資訊工程學系Our purpose is to construct a low-cost EEG measurement system that can detect high accuracy brain wave. Our proposal includes following characteristics: low cost, compact size, portability, and easy to use. The proposed device employs the embedded microcontroller to be in charge of whole system. EEG analog front-end circuits of our proposition are based on operational amplifiers that are applied to construct instrumentation amplifiers, high-pass filters, low-pass filters, middle-amplifiers, post-amplifiers and DC offset circuits. For PC-based applications, we program a brief MATLAB procedure to receive, display, and analyze EEG data. For smartphone applications, a Bluetooth wireless module is applied for data communication. We develop a simple demo application to display real-time EEG waveform on Android platform.Item type:Item, Generalized MLP/BP-based MIMO DFEs for overcoming ISI and ACI in band-limited channels(2007) ;Hsu, Terng-Ren ;Chen, Chi-Shi ;Hsu, Terng-Yin ;Lee, Chen-Yi電子工程學系及電子研究所in this work, we base on generalized multi-layered perceptron neural networks with backpropagation algorithm (Generalized MLP/BP) to construct multi-input multi-output (MIMO) decision feedback equalizers (DFEs). The proposal is used to recover distorted nonretum-to-zero (NRZ) data in wireline parallel bandlimited channels. From the simulations, we note that the proposed design can recover severe distorted NRZ data as well as suppress intersymbol interference (ISI), adjacent channel interference (ACI) and background noise. The better BER performance as compared to a set of LMS DFEs and an MLPIBP-based MIMO DFE is achieved in the wireline parallel band-limited channels where the data rate is ten times as much as the channel bandwidth.Item type:Item, Investigation of Defect Free SiGe Nanowire Biosensor Modified by Dual Plasma Technology(2016-02) ;Chen, Yi-Ming ;Chang, Tai-Yuan ;Lai, Chiung-Hui ;Chang, Kow-MingChen, Chu-FengSemiconductor nanowires (NWs) have been extensively investigated and discussed in various fields due to their unique physical properties. In this paper, we successfully produce SiGe NWs biosensor by VLSI technology. We propose the dual plasma technology with CF4 plasma pre-treatment and N-2 plasma post-treatment for repairs of defects as well as optimization of SiGe NWs biosensor. The results indicate that sensitivity (S) of the biosensor with dual plasma technology has significantly improved at least 32.8%, suitable for producing industrial SiGe NWs biosensor in the future.Item type:Item, MLP/BP-based MIMO DFEs for Suppressing ISI and ACI to Recover Distorted QPSK Signal in Severe ISI Channels(2008) ;Hsu, Terng-Ren ;Hsu, Terng-Yin ;Chao, Kuan-Chieh ;Chiang, Shih-Yuan資訊工程學系In this work, we base oil multi-layered perceptron neural networks with backpropagation algorithm (MLP/BP) to construct multi-input multi-output (MIMO) decision feedback equalizers (DFEs). The proposal is used to recover distorted quadrature phase-shift keying (QPSK) signal. From the simulations, we note that the proposed scheme can recover severe distorted signals as well as suppress intersymbol interference (ISI), adjacent channel interference (ACI) and background additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). The better bit-error-rate (BER) and packet-error-rate (PER) performance as compared to a set of least-mean-square (LMS) DFEs is achieved. The presented MLP/BP-based MIMO DFE under the severe ISI channels with ACI and AWGN can improve over 1.5dB at PER=10(-1) and BER=10(-3).Item type:Item, MLP/BP-based soft decision feedback equalization with bit-interleaved TCM for wireless applications(2007-04-01) ;Hsu, Terng-Ren ;Lin, Chien-Ching ;Hsu, Terng-Yin ;Lee, Chen-Yi資訊工程學系For more efficient data transmissions, a new MLP/BP-based channel equalizer is proposed to compensate for multi-path fading in wireless applications. In this work, for better system performance, we apply the soft output and the soft feedback structure as well as the soft decision channel decoding. Moreover, to improve packet error rate (PER) and bit error rate (BER), we search for the optimal scaling factor of the transfer function in the output layer of the MLP/BP neural networks and add small random disturbances to the training data. As compared with the conventional MLP/BP-based DFEs and the soft output MLP/BP-based DFEs, the proposed MLP/BP-based soft DFEs under multi-path fading channels can improve over 3-0.6 dB at PER=10(-1) and over 3.3-0.8 dB at BER=10(-3).Item type:Item, Wearable Electroencephalogram Signal Detection with Dry Metal Electrodes(2017-01-01) ;Hsu, Terng-Ren ;Hsu, Terng-Yin ;Huang, Wei-Hsin ;Fan, Ching-Chih資訊工程學系The major of this paper is a wearable Electroencephalogram (EEG) signal detection with dry metal electrodes. It includes following characteristics: low cost, compact size, wearable object, and comfortable sensation. The proposed device employs the embedded microcontroller to be in charge of whole system. The EEG analog front-end circuit of our proposition is based on CMOS operational amplifiers (OPA) that are applied to construct an instrumentation amplifier (IA), high-pass filters (HPF), low-pass filters (LPF), a middle-amplifier, a post-amplifier and biases. A Bluetooth wireless communication module is applied for data communications. We develop a simple demo application software to display real-time EEG waveform or real-time EEG features on Android platforms.Item type:Item, Wearable Multi-lead ECG Recorder with Dry Metal Electrodes(2016) ;Hsu, Terng-Ren ;Hsu, Terng-Yin ;Yang, Shang-Yi ;Huang, Wei-HsinOu, Zong-ChengIn this draft, our purpose is to construct a wearable multi-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) recorder with dry metal electrodes. In general, such as arrhythmia, myocardial ischemia or other heart-related symptoms, using one lead ECG measurements is difficult to accurately diagnose, three-lead ECG should be measured at least. In order to offer sufficient identification information, our scheme is a three-lead ECG solution with recording mode and real-time display mode. Besides, our proposition using dry metal electrodes provide a comfortable sensation, less skin-irritating, easy clean surfaces, reusable capability, and more durability. Due to these advantages, dry metal electrodes are suitable to integrate with underwear. The whole system includes an embedded microcontroller, a memory card interface, analog front-end circuits, user interface devices, power regulators, and so on. All elements integrate within a 5.8cm x 6.8cm four-layer printed circuit board (PCB) to meet the wearable request.
