J. ;Lan, W. H.Huang, K. C.Gallium nitride p-i-n ultraviolet photodiodes with low- temperature (LT)- GaN interlayer have been fabricated. It was found that the dark current of photodiode with LT- GaN interlayer is as small as 143 pA at 5 V reverse bias. It was also found that the responsivity of the photodiode with LT- GaN interlayer can be enhanced at a small electric field (similar to 0.4 MV/cm) due to the carrier multiplication effect. The UV photocurrent gain of 13 and large ionization coefficient (alpha = 3.1 X 10(5) cm(-1)) were also observed in the detector with LT- GaN interlayer. Furthermore, we can achieve a large peak responsivity of 2.27 A/W from the photodiode with LT- GaN interlayer. Y.Chen, Arthur Y. M.HIV/AIDS prevention has been a major concern for health department of every government. We propose to assess the impact of social behaviors on HIV epidemic. To do so, we build an agent-based computer simulation model to implement a sexual network with the existence of high risk population. In order to categorize the high risk population and low risk population, we make use of some criteria such as the number of sexual partners per agent, condom usage, and degree of "faithfulness" towards long-term partners. We also introduce the concept of Free-Links and Fix-Links to denote the short-term and long-term partners' general tendency. We reproduce the epidemic curve of HIV reported cases in the male homosexual community in Taiwan, and try to assess the influence of different policies on the social behavior of each individual and the consequences on the spreading of the epidemic.Item type:Item, Mechanical Reliability Analysis of Pneumatic Solenoid Valve Considering Airflow Disorder(2016-01-01) ;Huang, C. Y. ;Su, H. M. ;Jian, B. S. ;Yao, C. L.Kam, T. Y.The mechanical reliability of a pneumatic solenoid valve is studied with the consideration of the failure mode of airflow disorder. The key mechanical components that have important effects on the improper airflow phenomenon are identified as the conical compression spring and rubber O-ring seal. The limit states of key components are constructed via the failure analyses of the components. The probability distributions of the random variables together with the limit states are used to determine the failure probabilities of the key components. A method established on the basis of the series system model is used to estimate the failure probability of the solenoid air valve for the failure mode of airflow disorder.Item type:Item, Quasi-static buckling and first-ply failure loads of shear web reinforced glass-fabric composite wind blades(2017-01-15) ;Kam, T. Y. ;Su, H. M. ;Huang, C. Y. ;機械工程學系Department of Mechanical EngineeringA procedure is proposed to analyze the structural failure of a composite wind blade subjected to quasi-static loads. The structural failure of a wind blade under extreme wind loads which can be treated as quasi-static loads is an important issue to be tackled when assessing the reliability of a wind turbine. In the proposed structural failure analysis procedure, the geometrically nonlinear finite element (FE) method together with several phenomenological failure criteria is used to investigate the possible failure modes such as incipient buckling, interfacial debonding, and first-ply failure of the blade via an incremental loading approach. The failure loads and locations associated with the possible failure modes for a number of small wind blades with different structural configurations are determined to study the appropriateness of the failure criteria. Static tests of several small glass-fabric composite wind blades were conducted to validate the suitability of the proposed procedure. It has been shown that the experimentally and theoretically predicted failure processes of the wind blades are in good agreement. The applications of the proposed procedure are demonstrated by means of a numerical example in which the failure process of a wind blade under quasi-static wind loads is simulated. Y.統計學研究所Process precision index C, has been widely used in the manufacturing industry to provide numerical measures of process precision, which essentially reflects product quality consistency. Precision measures using C, for normal processes, contaminated normal processes, have been investigated extensively, but are neglected for truncated normal processes. Truncated normal processes are common in the manufacturing industry, particularly, for factories equipped with automatic machines handling fully inspections, and scrap/rework products falling outside the specification limits. If the processes follow the normal distribution, then the inspected products (processes) must follow the truncated normal distribution. In this note, we consider the precision measure for truncated normal processes. We investigate the analytically intractable sampling distribution of the estimated C, and obtain a rather accurate approximation. Using the results, we develop a practical testing procedure for practitioners to use in their in-plant applications. (C) 2007 Elsevier Ltd. Y. ;Ko, Fu-Hsiang ;材料科學與工程學系奈米科技碩博班Graduate Program of Nanotechnology , Department of Materials Science and EngineeringAmorphous (Al2O3)(x)-(TiO2)(1-x) composite films are prepared using r.f. unbalanced magnetron sputtering in an atmosphere of argon and oxygen at room temperature. The optical constants of (Al2O3)(x)-(TiO2)(1-x) composite films are linearly dependent on the Al2O3 mole fraction in the Al2O3-TiO2 composite film. The optical constants of these Al2O3-TiO2 Composite films can be made to meet the optical requirements for a high transmittance attenuated phase shift mask (HT-APSM) blank by tuning the Al2O3 mole fraction. The Al2O3 mole fraction range that would allow the films to meet the optical requirements of an HT-APSM blank for ArF immersion lithography is calculated to be between 76% and 84%. One Tu-phase-shifted Al2O3-TiO2 composite thin film to be used as an HT-APSM blank for ArF immersion lithography is fabricated and is shown to satisfy the optical requirements. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. P.Chiang, C. M.Building integrated photovoltaic is an art and trend using PV module to replace building material on the outer wall. The semi-transparent c-Si PV module is installed to replace the tiled roof in this study. PV power generation prediction is follow with module performance, installation site and meteorological data. A simple model is created to simulate the power output using PV module thermal model. PV module thermal model is the relation of the module temperature, ambient temperature and solar radiation. In the present study, two parameter linearly regression model is to simulate the power generation in BIPV system. The monthly root-mean-square error (RMSE) is about 4.7%.
