Item type:Item, A Green Radio Resource Allocation Scheme for LTE-A CoMP Systems with Multimedia Traffic(2013) ;Chung, Wen-Ching ;Chang, Chung-Ju ;Huang, Chin-Ya ;Teng, Hsin-Ying電機資訊學士班In this paper, we propose a green radio resource allocation (GRRA) scheme for LTE-A downlink systems with coordinated multi-point (CoMP) transmission to support multimedia traffic. It is a crucial issue to find a balance between throughput maximization and transmission power minimization, especially when the QoS requirement guarantee for multimedia traffic is considered. The GRRA scheme defines a green radio utility function by considering required transmission power, assigned modulation order, and coordinated transmission nodes. Based on this utility function, it coordinates transmission nodes to deliver data on suitable subchannels with suitable transmission power. Simulation results show that, the GRRA scheme can save the transmission power by 33.9% and 40.1%, as compared to the adaptive radio resource allocation scheme [5] with CoMP and the utility-based radio resource allocation scheme [6] with CoMP, respectively. Besides, it enhances the system throughput by 5.5% and improves the Jain fairness index for best effort users by 155% over these two schemes.Item type:Item, Ant Colony-based Radio Resource Allocation for LTE-A Systems with MIMO and CoMP Transmission(2013) ;Chung, Wen-Ching ;Chen, Chien-Yuan ;Huang, Chin-Ya ;Chang, Chung-JuRen, FrankIn this paper, we propose an ant colony-based radio resource allocation (ACRA) scheme for LTE-A downlink systems to support multi-input-multi-output (MIMO) and coordinated multi-point (CoMP) transmission. One of the challenges in the radio resource allocation problem for LTE-A systems with MIMO and CoMP transmission is its high complexity. The ACRA scheme first assigns users to direct transmission bandwidth (DTB) zone or CoMP transmission bandwidth (CTB) zone. In the DTB zone, the data is delivered by only one transmission node; while in the CTB zone, the transmission is carried out among multiple transmission nodes. By using ant colony optimization, the ACRA scheme determines one best allocation solution from multiple possible solutions. Simulation results show that, the ACRA scheme enhances the system throughput by 8.8 % as compared to the dynamic interference avoidance scheme [10].Item type:Item, QoS-Promoted Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation for Ethernet Passive Optical Networks(2008) ;Tang, Wen-Shiang ;Huang, Chin-Ya ;Chang, Chung-Ju ;Ren, Fang-Ching交大名義發表In this paper, we propose a QOS-promoted dynamic bandwidth allocation (Q-DBA) method to support quality-of-service (QoS) requirement services for Ethernet passive optical networks (EPON). The Q-DBA method classifies the three types of services: voice, video, and data into six priorities. It can not only satisfy QoS requirements of real-time service and but also improve the QoS or non-real-time packets, Simulation results show that the Q-DBA can fulfill the video dropping probability requirement while the conventional dynamic bandwidth allocation with multiple services (DBAM) fails. Also, the Q-DBA can achieve the fairness index of average data delay close to 1 but DBAM's fairness index of average data delay varies greatly.Item type:Item, SCONN: Design and Implement Dual-Band Wireless Networking assisted Fault Tolerant Data Transmission in Intelligent Buildings(2018-01-01) ;Huang, Chin-Ya ;Chung, Wang-Wei ;Liu, Chih-Yan ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceIoT devices monitor and provide information to a control system which manages the operation of an intelligent building. Due to the limited capability of wireless coverage and battery life, IoT devices may have not direct Internet access to the control system. Instead, they first connect to WiFi access points (APs) for data transmission. However, when abnormal situation such as attacks occurs, the performance of packet transmission between the IoT devices and the control system degrade. To eliminate this problem, we utilize the dual-band wireless networking technology and propose a Stay Connected (SCONN) mechanism When the software defined networking (SDN) controller detects the abnormal situation occurs between an AP and the control system, with SCONN, packets will be adaptively rerouted through the backup wireless mesh network consisted by dual-band APs. Hence, the performance in data transmission can be enhanced. To further validate the capability of SCONN, we implement it in commercial APs. Experimental results show the improvement of the proposed SCONN to support data transmission.Item type:Item, Seamless Real-time Content Delivery in Wireless Cognitive Radio Networks(2013-01-01) ;Huang, Chin-Ya ;Ramanathan, Parameswaran ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceIn this paper, we propose a strategy for individual users to purchase frequency spectrum in cognitive radio based wireless networks. From the user\'s perspective, the goal is to reduce the cost of acquiring the spectrum needed to meet the quality of service needs of their real-time streaming applications. The key aspect of our proposed strategy is that the users can purchase spectrum for use in future time instances based on stochastic predictions of their locations and the prices set by competing wireless service providers. Another important aspect of the proposed strategy is that the tuning of many design parameters is not required as the tuning is often needed in conventional schemes. To evaluate our proposed scheme, we model a user utility function based on the cost of spectrum purchase and its impact on the quality of service. Simulation results show that the proposed strategy performs better than baseline schemes in terms of user utility.
