Item type:Item, A 0.5V 1KS/s 2.5nW 8.52-ENOB 6.8fJ/Conversion-Step SAR ADC for Biomedical Applications(2011) ;Lu, Tsung-Che ;Van, Lan-Da ;Lin, Chi-Sheng ;Huang, Chun-Ming資訊工程學系A low-FOM SAR ADC using the leakage reduction bootstrapped switch (LRBS) to achieve a satisfactory ENOB and using a low-power approach with a low voltage, low sampling rate, and low-DAC-capacitance structure is presented for biomedical applications. LRBS is proposed to alleviate the leakage caused by the low-power approach to increase SNDR and ENOB. From the measurement results, the 0.18 mu m CMOS prototype chip with the total DAC capacitance of 2.765pF consumes 2.5nW and achieves a SNDR of 53.05dB under a 0.5V supply voltage at 1KS/s with a Nyquist input. The resulting FOM is 6.8fJ/conversion-step.Item type:Item, Bifurcation and Chaos in Synchronous Manifold of a Forest Model(2015-11-01) ;Huang, Chun-Ming ;Juang, Jonq ;應用數學系 ;數學建模與科學計算所(含中心)Department of Applied MathematicsIn previous papers [Isagi et al., 1997; Satake & Iwasa, 2000], a forest model was proposed. The authors demonstrated numerically that the mature forest could possibly exhibit annual reproduction (fixed point synchronization), periodic and chaotic synchronization as the energy depletion constant d is gradually increased. To understand such rich synchronization phenomena, we are led to study global dynamics of a piecewise smooth map f(d,beta) containing two parameters d and beta. Here d is the energy depletion quantity and beta is the coupling strength. In particular, we obtain the following results. First, we prove that f(d,0) has a chaotic dynamic in the sense of Devaney on an invariant set whenever d > 1, which improves a result of [Chang & Chen, 2011]. Second, we prove, via the Schwarzian derivative and a generalized result of [Singer, 1978], that f(d,beta) exhibits the period adding bifurcation. Specifically, we show that for any beta > 0, f(d,beta) has a unique global attracting fixed point whenever d <= 1/(beta+ 1)(beta+ 1/beta+ 2)beta (< 1) and that for any beta > 0, f(d,beta) has a unique attracting period k + 1 point whenever d is less than and near any positive integer k. Furthermore, the corresponding period k + 1 point instantly becomes unstable as d moves pass the integer k. Finally, we demonstrate numerically that there are chaotic dynamics whenever d is in between and away from two consecutive positive integers. We also observe the route to chaos as d increases from one positive integer to the next through finite period doubling.Item type:Item, IoTtalk: A Management Platform for Reconfigurable Sensor Devices(2017-10-01) ;Lin, Yi-Bing ;Lin, Yun-Wei ;Huang, Chun-Ming ;Chih, Chang-YenLin, PhoneIoTtalk is a platform for Internet of Things (IoT) device interaction, which nicely integrates a reconfigurable multi-sensor device called MorSensor with the proposed IoT management platform in the network domain. The sensors can be dynamically plugged in/out of a MorSensor device without being turned off, and IoTtalk automatically generates/reuses the application software for these sensors. We propose a dynamic ranging concept that automatically specifies the value range of a sensor so that it can send "meaningful" data to any connected output IoT device. Therefore, a MorSensor device can "talk" to other IoT devices, such as a light bulb or an electric fan. We also show that IoTtalk is a simple yet almost free solution for automatic sensor calibration. Finally, we illustrate that IoTtalk is a powerful tool for developing interactive science experiments.Item type:Item, MorSocket: An Expandable IoT-Based Smart Socket System(2018-01-01) ;Lin, Yi-Bing ;Huang, Chun-Ming ;Chen, Li-Kuan ;Sung, Gang-NengYang, Chih-ChyauDue to the flourishing development of the Internet of Things (IoT) technology, many smart home applications have become commercially available. One of the most popular applications is remotely controlled smart sockets. Most commercial smart socket products allow the user to control single-sockets. This paper proposes a smart socket system called MorSocket ("more sockets") that allows the user to control multiple separated sockets within a control webpage. These sockets share the same wireless communication module and therefore the hardware cost of MorSocket is lower than the single-socket solutions. Furthermore, by integrating MorSensor with an IoT management platform called IoTtalk, MorSocket can be automatically controlled by arbitrary sensors for temperature, humidity, UV, CO2, and so on. Such configuration is easily and flexibly set up through the IoTtalk GUI without extra programming efforts. We also develop the MorSensor system that provides multiple configurable sensors tailored to control MorSocket through simple plug-and-play. Then we investigate the user tolerance delay between when the user presses the on/off button and when he/she presses the next time if MorSocket does not respond. The user experience is poor if the MorSocket access delay is longer than the tolerance delay, and the user may keep pressing the button. We conduct measurements, analytic modeling, and simulation experiments to study the impact of the user tolerance delay. Our study observes the quick response of MorSocket, which results in excellent user experience.Item type:Item, Multi-layer planar micro-coils chip as actuators and heaters for biological applications(2012) ;Chen, Chen-Chia ;Hsu, Shih-Hsun ;Sang, Chen-Hsiang ;Yang, Chih-ChyauWu, Chien-MingIn this paper, a multi-functional of multi-layer planar micro-coils chip is demonstrated to play as actuators and heaters. For playing as actuators, the micro-coil generate local magnetic field with applied current of 15 mA to quickly manipulated magnetic beads to center of micro-coil within one minute. For functioning as heaters, the micro-coil heater can be quickly heated up to denatured temperature of 95 degrees C with input power of 50.5 mW, and its heating and cooling rate are 19.7 and 11.8 degrees C/s, respectively. For the typical 25 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) cycles, it took only 770 seconds. To further shrink and optimize the multi-layer planar micro-coils chip can be possibly used to manipulate single cell with magnetic beads to specific region and analyze its gene sequence by using single cell PCR technique.Item type:Item, On a piecewise-smooth map arising in ecology(2014-10-15) ;Huang, Chun-Ming ;Juang, Jong ;應用數學系 ;數學建模與科學計算所(含中心)Department of Applied MathematicsIn this paper, we study a two-dimensional piecewise smooth map arising in ecology. Such map, containing two parameters d and beta, is derived from a model describing how masting of a mature forest happens and synchronizes. Here d is the energy depletion quantity and beta is the coupling strength. Our main results are the following. First, we obtain a "weak" Sharkovskii ordering for the map on its nondiagonal invariant region for a certain set of parameters. In particular, we show that its Sharkovskii ordering is the natural number (resp., the positive even number) for beta > 1 (resp., 0 < beta < 1). Second, we obtain a region of parameter space for which its corresponding global dynamics can be completely characterized. (C) 2014 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
