Item type:Item, An automatic pin identification method for a three-phase DC brushless motor(2005-10-01) ;Wang, SJ ;Cheng, CC ;Lin, SK ;Ju, JJHuang, DRThe pin identification is to find the definition of each connecting pin of a three-phase brushless motor. The 11 pins of the motor can be distinguished into three groups by a simple resistance measurement method. An automatic method has two steps. In the first step, the motor is in an open-circuited mode; and the individual pins of the windings are identified by comparing back electromotive forces. A special integral is defined and used to match Hall signal pins with the Hall sensors. The polarity of each pair of the Hall signal pins is determined by the second step of a standstill method. The proposed method is illustrated and verified by an experiment.Item type:Item, Design of a voice coil motor used in the focusing system of a digital video camera(2005-10-01) ;Yu, HC ;Lee, TY ;Wang, SJ ;Lai, MLJu, JJThis paper raises a valid method to design a voice coil motor (VCM) used in the focusing system of a digital video camera (DVC). A better VCM performance, such as lower battery consumption, higher efficiency, and shorter focusing time, can be achieved by turning the diameter of a winding coil, the thickness of the magnet, and the winding spaces in a VCM.Item type:Item, Formulas for computing the magnetic flux density of fine magnetic pole pitch fabricated on printed circuit board(2005-04-01) ;Chiu, KC ;Huang, DR ;Shieh, HPD ;光電工程學系Department of PhotonicsA special wire circuit with an appropriate layout was designed and formed on printed circuit board (PCB). After a current flowed through the wire circuit, the magnetic field was induced according to Ampere's law and a fine magnetic pole pitch of less than 1 mm was fabricated. Three-dimensional formulas are presented for computing the magnetic flux density of fine magnetic pole pitch fabricated on PCB. These formulas are expressed in terms of finite sums of elementary functions and enable rapid parametric studies of the magnetic flux density distribution relative to wire width, wire thickness, dimension of magnetic pole pitch, etc. They are easily programmed and have been successfully verified by experimental measurements. © 2004 Elsevier B.V. The stator cores were designed with different ratios of x/y where x is the gap angle between 2-slots and y is the expanded angle of a slot. Experiment and finite element analyses (FEA) results show that x/y ratio of 1/2.5 is an optimal design in achieving dynamic performance for DVD drives applications.Item type:Item, Low power consumption focusing actuator for a mini video camera(2006-04-15) ;Yu, HC ;Lee, TY ;Lin, SK ;Kuo, LTWang, SJA novel low power consumption autofocusing actuator in a mini video camera is constructed in accordance with the result of a systematic design procedure of voice coil motors (VCM). This paper emphasizes the position control of such a VCM. The position feedback signals are provided by a magnetoresistive (MR) encoder. The position estimation algorithm (PEA) is developed to precisely decode the MR signals for the position of the moving part of the VCM. Different postures change the loading of the moving part of the VCM, so that an adaptive model-following control system based on the PEA is proposed to compensate for the loading variation. The experiments verify the fast dynamic performance and high power efficiency of the VCM. In this paper, the optimal design of a fine magnetic pole pitch of less than 1 mm fabricated on a printed circuit board has been successfully investigated and demonstrated. An optimal magnetic pole pitch having large variation and strength in magnetic-flux density was obtained. The characteristics of the optimal magnetic pole pitch are good for signal detection and processing. The measured values of the magnetic-flux density in the z component are in agreement with the calculated values. In the disk the optical switching layer is adapted to reduce decay of laser energy and increase reading and recording sensitivity. Well-defined marks of similar to100-nm depth can be placed precisely on the transparent films by a focused laser beam. Writing and reading of a four-layer recordable disk, fabricated by molding and spin bonding, have been demonstrated experimentally. The volumetric disk can achieve a high recording capacity with conventional optical pickups. In the disk, an optical switching layer is adopted to reduce laser energy decay and increase recording sensitivity for reading and recording, respectively. A well-defined deformation area (mark) with submicron to nanometric dimensions can be yielded precisely on the transparent films by a focused laser beam. The peak writing power of 7 mW for a four-layer recordable medium, fabricated by molding and spin bonding techniques, was demonstrated experimentally as an example. The proposed volumetric disk can achieve a higher recording capacity by using conventional optical pickup units.
