Item type:Item, A multiple-instance neural networks based image content retrieval system(2006) ;Chuang, Shun-Chin ;Xu, Yeong-Yuh ;Fu, Hsin Chia ;Huang, Hsiang-Cheh資訊工程學系In this paper, we proposed a Multiple-Instance Neural Network (MINN) for content-based image retrieval (CBIR). In order to represent the rich content of an image without precisely image segmentation, the image retrieval problem is considered as a multiple-instance learning problem. A set of exemplar images are selected by a user, each of which is labelled as conceptual related (positive) or conceptual unrelated (negative) image. Then, the proposed MINN is trained by using the proposed learning algorithm to learn the user's preferred image concept from the positive and negative examples. Experimental results show that: (1) without image segmentation and using only the color histogram as the image feature, the MINN without relevance feedback performs slightly inferior to some leading image retrieval methods, and (2) the MINN with the relevance feedback can significantly improve the retrieving performance from 40.3% to 59.3%, which outperforms to the results of some leading image retrieval methods.Item type:Item, A Novel Wireless Biomedical Monitoring System with Dedicated FPGA-based ECG Processor(2012) ;Chou, Chia-Ching ;Fang, Wai-Chi ;Huang, Hsiang-Cheh ;電子工程學系及電子研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of ElectronicsA novel portable and wireless biomedical monitoring system featuring on demand wireless data transmission of ECG signals and time-frequency HRV analysis for personal and home healthcare applications is presented in this work. In order to provide comfort and convenience to patients, the device's size, power consumption and portability are of first priority. The ECG processor based on previous hardware design [1] acquires three-channel ECG biomedical raw data through an analog front-end (AFE) circuit, and it measures the time between successive heart beats on lead II as RR intervals for HRV analysis. Functions such as QRS complex peak detection, RR intervals calculation, and time-frequency analysis of HRV have also been developed in hardware. A real-time HRV analysis processor is realized by employing a Lomb periodogram for time-frequency power spectral density (PSD) analysis of the heart rate. The proposed ECG monitoring system has been implemented in Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) and it features high integration density, portability, wireless transmission and low cost.Item type:Item, A programming model for distributed content-based image retrieval(2007) ;Chang, Feng-Cheng ;Huang, Hsiang-Cheh ;電子工程學系及電子研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of ElectronicsWith the growth of digital contents, content-based image retrieval becomes important. The huge amount of computation can be solved by distributed computing. However, to design a distributed algorithm and program it with cross-platform capability is difficult. We present a programming model which is based on list data processing, and it can be transparently executed in a distributed environment with some auxiliary tools. This model allows us to explicitly specify the parallelism without special language support, such as new reserved keywords or new directives. Although this approach may introduce non-trivial overhead in some aspects, it can be used to write a distributed program using a conventional (and often sequential) language.Item type:Item, Applications of Reversible Data Hiding Techniques with the Quick Response Codes(2009) ;Huang, Hsiang-Cheh ;Chang, Feng-Cheng ;Fang, Wai-Chi ;交大名義發表National Chiao Tung UniversityThe goal of quick response (QR) codes aims at convenience-oriented applications for mobile phone users. People can use the mobile phone cameras to capture the code with random patterns, usually displayed at the corner of web page, and then the hyperlink corresponding to the QR code can be accessed. Since QR code looks like random noise, its existence can greatly reduce the value of the original image. With the aid of reversible data hiding technique, we propose a scheme Such that when the image containing the QR code is browsed, the hyperlink corresponding to the QR code is accessed first. Then, the QR code can get vanished and the original image can be recovered to retain the information conveyed therein. Simulation results demonstrate the applicability of the proposed algorithm.Item type:Item, Authenticity Preservation with Histogram-Based Reversible Data Hiding and Quadtree Concepts(2011-10-01) ;Huang, Hsiang-Cheh ;Fang, Wai-Chi ;電子工程學系及電子研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of ElectronicsWith the widespread use of identification systems, establishing authenticity with sensors has become an important research issue. Among the schemes for making authenticity verification based on information security possible, reversible data hiding has attracted much attention during the past few years. With its characteristics of reversibility, the scheme is required to fulfill the goals from two aspects. On the one hand, at the encoder, the secret information needs to be embedded into the original image by some algorithms, such that the output image will resemble the input one as much as possible. On the other hand, at the decoder, both the secret information and the original image must be correctly extracted and recovered, and they should be identical to their embedding counterparts. Under the requirement of reversibility, for evaluating the performance of the data hiding algorithm, the output image quality, named imperceptibility, and the number of bits for embedding, called capacity, are the two key factors to access the effectiveness of the algorithm. Besides, the size of side information for making decoding possible should also be evaluated. Here we consider using the characteristics of original images for developing our method with better performance. In this paper, we propose an algorithm that has the ability to provide more capacity than conventional algorithms, with similar output image quality after embedding, and comparable side information produced. Simulation results demonstrate the applicability and better performance of our algorithm.Item type:Item, Copyright protection for images with EXIF metadata(2008) ;Huang, Hsiang-Cheh ;Chen, Yueh-Hong ;Chen, Shin-Chang ;交大名義發表National Chiao Tung UniversityIn this paper, we propose an application of robust watermarking with the aid of EXIF metadata in digital images. Application for robust watermarking is one of the major branches in digital rights management (DRM) systems. Furthermore, implementation schemes for robust watermarking generally alter selected pixels in the spatial domain, or corresponding coefficients in the transform domain, to accomplish the embedding process. We consider not only the pixels or coefficients in the images, but we also employ the EXIF metadata, which serves as the role of watermark, to further protect the copyrights. Taking the manufacturer, camera model, date and time stamp, and some other information in the EXIF metadata as the watermark information, conventional watermarking techniques can be applied to ordinary pictures taken by ourselves, and watermarked images with good quality can be produced. Even when the marked image has been intentionally modified, the original EXIF with selected information can be recovered from the watermark extraction process. Simulation results present the effectiveness of such an implementation.Item type:Item, Copyright Protection with EXIF Metadata and Error Control Codes(2008) ;Huang, Hsiang-Cheh ;Fang, Wai-Chi ;Chen, Shin-Chang ;交大名義發表National Chiao Tung UniversityIn this paper, we propose a practical scheme for copyright protection of images with the aid of EXIF metadata and error control codes. Therefore, ubiquitous health-care systems have become an important topic of research in recent years. In this paper, an integrated system for portable electrocardiography (ECG) monitoring, with an on-board processor for time-frequency analysis of heart rate variability (HRV), is presented. The main function of proposed system comprises three parts, namely, an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) controller, an HRV processor, and a lossless compression engine. At the beginning, ECG data acquired from front-end circuits through the ADC controller is passed through the HRV processor for analysis. Next, the HRV processor performs real-time analysis of time-frequency HRV using the Lomb periodogram and a sliding window configuration. The Lomb periodogram is suited for spectral analysis of unevenly sampled data and has been applied to time-frequency analysis of HRV in the proposed system. Finally, the ECG data are compressed by 2.5 times using the lossless compression engine before output using universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter (UART). Bluetooth is employed to transmit analyzed HRV data and raw ECG data to a remote station for display or further analysis. The integrated ECG health-care system design proposed has been implemented using UMC 90 nm CMOS technology. (C) 2012 Elsevier Ltd. However, the ease of delivery of multimedia data may cause the copyright of such multimedia to be easily infringed upon, and the fingerprinting scheme is one of effective means for conquering this problem. Fingerprint embedding process often generates the multimedia contents into many different versions, which have to be transmitted via the unicast method. In this paper, we propose a new genetic fingerprinting scheme for copyright protection of multicast video. In this method, the encryption and decryption keys, which aim at scrambling and descrambling multimedia contents, are first produced with genetic algorithms. Next, multimedia data are then encrypted and multicast to all users. At the same time, a secure channel is employed to unicast a designated decryption key to each user. When a user deploys the designated key to decrypt the received data, a corresponding fingerprint would be embedded into the contents. Once upon the reception of the fingerprinted multimedia content, the embedded fingerprint can be extracted shortly, and the copyright can be confirmed and assured. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can transmit multimedia data to clients effectively and cause only a slight degradation in perceptual quality.Item type:Item, Histogram-Based Reversible Data Hiding with Quadtree Concepts(2010) ;Huang, Hsiang-Cheh ;Wang, Ting-Hsuan ;Fang, Wai-Chi ;交大名義發表National Chiao Tung UniversityReversible data hiding has attracted much attention in researches during the past few years. Conventional IP protection on multimedia data can be categorized into encryption and watermarking. In this paper, a structure to perform layered access control on scalable media by combining encryption and robust watermarking is proposed, implemented, and verified. By taking advantages of the nature of both encryption and watermarking, copyrights of multimedia contents can be well protected and at the same time, multiple-grade services can be provided. In the summated examples, we assume a scalable transmission scheme over the broadcasting environment and use it to test the effectiveness of proposed method. When the embedded watermark is extracted with high confidence, the key to decrypt the next layer can be perfectly recovered. Then, the media contents are reconstructed and the copyrights are assured. The application examples also demonstrate the practicality of the proposed system.Item type:Item, Lossless Data Hiding with Multi-Round Difference Prediction(2014-01-01) ;Huang, Hsiang-Cheh ;Lin, Chuan-Chang ;Chen, Yueh-Hong ;Fang, Wai-Chi電機工程學系Lossless data hiding belongs to one major branch in information security researches. By using watermarking, the goals mentioned above can be reached. Application for robust watermarking is one of the major branches in digital rights management (DRM) systems. With robust watermarking, it generally alters selected coefficients in the transform domain to accomplish the embedding process. We consider not only the image contents itself, but we also employ the EXIF metadata, which contains the patients\' records and serves as the role of watermark, to be integrated into our scheme. By doing so, the false negative probability for obtaining the record can be reduced. Moreover, taking the information that the medical doctor recorded in the EXIF metadata into account, conventional watermarking techniques can be applied to medical images, and watermarked images with good quality can be produced. Even when the marked image has been intentionally modified, the original EXIF with selected information can mostly be recovered from the decoding process. QR codes are random patterns, which can be commonly observed on the corner of posters or webpages. The goal of QR codes aims at convenience-oriented applications for mobile phone users. People can use the mobile phone cameras to capture QR code at the corner of web page, and then the hyperlink corresponding to the QR code can be accessed instantly. Since QR code looks like random noise and it occupies a corner of the original image, its existence can greatly reduce the value of the original content. Thus, how to retain the value of original image, while keeping the capability for the instant access for webpages, would be the major concern of this paper. With the aid of our reversible data hiding technique, the QR codes can be hidden into the original image, and considerable increase in embedding capacity can be expected. Next, we propose a scheme such that when the image containing the QR code is browsed, the hyperlink corresponding to the QR code is accessed first. Then, the QR code could get vanished and the original image would be recovered to retain the information conveyed therein. Simulation results demonstrate the applicability of the proposed algorithm(1).
