Item type:Item, Effects of an interposed Mo layer on the interfacial reactions of Ti/Si0.76Ge0.24 by rapid thermal annealing and pulsed laser annealing(2000-10-01) ;Huang, JC ;Luo, JS ;Lin, WT ;Chang, CYShih, PSThe thickness effect of an interposed Mo layer between Ti and Si0.76Ge0.24 films on the lowering of the formation temperature of C54 (Ti, Mo)(Si1-xGex)(2), thereby reducing Ge segregation and agglomeration of the C54 (Ti, Mo)(Si1-xGex)(2) films, is studied. Upon rapid thermal annealing, the interposed Mo layer can significantly reduce the formation temperature of C54 (Ti, Mo)(Si1-xGex)(2); however, the amount of reduction decreases with the Mo thickness. The electron/atom ratio seems to be one of the important factors in the lowering of the formation temperature of C54 (Ti, Mo)(Si1-xGex)(2). For the samples having an interposed Mo layer 0.5 nm thick a smooth C54 (Ti, Mo)(Si1-xGex)(2) film without Ge segregation can be grown after annealing at a temperature of 625-650 degreesC. For pulsed KrF laser annealing the rapid melt/solidification process allows only growth of C40 Ti(Si1-xGex)(2) or C40 (Ti, Mo)(Si1-xGex)(2) even though an interposed Mo layer is introduced into the Ti/Si0.76Ge0.24 samples, indicating that upon pulsed laser annealing the kinetic effect can dominate over the thermodynamic effect.Item type:Item, Effects of Mo-free C40Ti(Si1-xGex)(2) precursors and the thickness of an interposed Mo layer on the enhanced formation of C54Ti(Si1-xGex)(2)(1999-11-29) ;Luo, JS ;Huang, JC ;Lin, WT ;Chang, CYShih, PSThe effects of Mo-free C40 Ti(Si1-xGex)(2) precursors and the thickness of an interposed Mo layer between Ti films and Si0.76Ge0.24 substrates on the lowering of formation temperature of C54 Ti(Si1-xGex)(2) were studied. Metastable C40 Ti(Si1-xGex)(2) precursors were grown by pulsed KrF laser annealing. Upon rapid thermal annealing, the Mo-free C40 phase could not be directly transformed to the C54 phase without going through the C49 phase. When the thickness of the interposed Mo layer increased, up to 2.5 nm, the temperature at which the C54 phase was initially formed changed from 750 to 600 and then to 650 degrees C. The present result showed that with increasing Mo concentration in the reacted layer, the phase stability shifted from C54 to C40 and no C49 was observed. It seems that apart from the C40 template mechanism, the electron/atom ratio also plays an important role in the enhanced formation of the C54 phase. (C) 1999 American Institute of Physics. Misalignments occur in machine spindles, intermediate supports and pilot bushings. Equations for axial hole straightness deviation are derived herein using the Euler column theory, and experiments are performed using Gundrill and BTA deep-hole drilling systems. Simulation results, Sakuma's method and experimental examinations are also presented. Taguchi methods and statistical techniques are used to formulate the experimental layout, analyze the effect of each control factor on the results, and optimize the setting for each control factor. Further experiments then verify these estimates. Six control factors were used in a modified L8 orthogonal array design. The confirmatory experiments revealed an average straightness deviation within the 95% confidence interval. When NbTi films are sandwiched between Co, we found that there are critical thicknesses of 20 nm for x=0.4 and 27 nm for x=0.6, below which no superconducting transition could be found. Using a series resistor model, we extracted the unit area resistance of one pair of Co/NbTi interfaces and compared with the pure Nb case we have reported. The influence of mean free paths and superconducting coherence lengths is analyzed. It was shown that, for a speedup factor of 2, a CIOQ switch can achieve 100% throughput with a simple maximal matching algorithm [1]. Achieving 100% throughput, however, is not sufficient for per-connection quality of service QoS) guarantee. In [2],[3], it is proved that a CIOQ switch with a speedup factor of 2 can exactly emulate an output queued (OQ) switch if stable matching is adopted. Unfortunately, the complexity of currently known algorithms makes stable matching impractical for high-speed switches. In this paper, we propose a nerv matching algorithm called the least cushion first/most urgent first (LCF/MUF) algorithm and formally prove that a CIOQ switch with a speedup factor of 2 can exactly emulate an OQ switch which adopts any service discipline for cell transmission. A potential implementation of our proposed matching algorithm for strict priority service discipline is also presented.Item type:Item, Strain rate effect on mechanical behaviors of nylon 6-clay nanocomposites(2006) ;Tsai, JL ;Huang, JC ;機械工程學系Department of Mechanical EngineeringThis study aims to investigate strain rate effect on the mechanical behaviors of nylon 6-clay nanocomposites. Both dry and wet nylon 6-clay nanocomposites are examined in this study. To determine the strain rate effect, the nylon 6 nanocomposites with 5 wt% loading of the organoclay are tested in compression at different strain rates. For strain rates less than 1/s, the experiments are conducted using a hydraulic MTS machine. However, the high strain rate tests are performed using a split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB). To establish reliable dynamic stress and strain curves for the nanocomposites, a pulse-shaper technology is employed in the SHPB tests. Experimental observations reveal that for dry nanocomposites, the linear portions of the stress and strain curves are not affected substantially by the strain rates, but the yielding stresses increase with the increment of the strain rates. On the other hand, for the wet nanocomposites, the stress and strain curves are almost nonlinear demonstrating significant stiffening behaviors as the strain rates increase. This stiffening behavior is continuous until the stress and strain curves are almost linear at the strain rate of 500/s. Comparison of nylon 6-clay nanocomposites and unfilled nylon 6 indicates that the supplement of 5 wt% organoclay in the dry nylon 6 can enhance the Young's modulus to 32% within the tested strain rate ranges. Moreover, for the wet nylon reinforced with organoclay, the increment of Young's modulus can be achieved up to 43%.Item type:Item, Temperature control of rapid thermal processing system using adaptive fuzzy network(1999-04-01) ;Lin, CT ;Juang, CF ;Huang, JC ;電控工程研究所Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringTemperature control of a rapid thermal processing (RTP) system using a proposed self-constructing adaptive fuzzy inference network (SCAFIN) is presented in this paper. First, the physical modeling of a RTP system is done. An integrated model is given for the components that make up a RTP system. These components are the lamp power dynamics, ray-tracing model, and the wafer thermal dynamic model. The models for the components are integrated in a numerical code to give a computer simulation of the complete RTP system. The simulation can be used to investigate the interaction of the furnace, lamp contour, and the control system. Then a direct inverse control scheme using the proposed SCAFIN is adopted to control the temperature of the RTP system. The SCAFIN is inherently a modified TSK-type fuzzy rule-based model possessing neural network's learning ability. There are no rules initially in the SCAFIN. They are created and adapted as on-line learning proceeds via simultaneous structure and parameter identification. Simulation results show that the control approach is able to track a temporally varying temperature trajectory and maintain the uniformity of the spatial temperature distribution of the wafer in the RTP system simultaneously.
