Item type:Item, A portable real-time extension set for Java(2001) ;Chiao, HT ;Huang, ST ;Kao, SHJ ;Yuan, SM資訊工程學系Since the fourth quarter of 1999, the authors engaged in a project where Java was employed to build the real-time control program inside a plastic-injection-molding machine. However, at that time, since the official real-time Java standard - the Real-Time Specification for Java (RTSJ) from the Sun Microsystems was still under development, no RTSJ-compliant Java virtual machine was available. To satisfy our requirement, we designed and implemented a real-time extension library for enhancing the Java virtual machine that was already available in the real-time operating system we used. Our extension library has the following advantages: First, the underlying Java virtual machine needs no modification to accommodate it. Second, this extension library is easy to be ported to any other priority-based real-time operating systems. Third, the core of this extension library is basically derived from the subset of the RTSJ public draft, and thus our real-time control program can be move to a forthcoming RTSJ-compliant Java virtual machine without much difficulty. In brief, our work may help suggest ways of implementing RTSJ, or the notion of (degrees of) "minimal" compliance/support of RTSJ based on non-RTSJ Java virtual machines. In this paper, we will show the requirement, application programming interface, and implementation of this extension library, and discuss its influence on timing.Item type:Item, Degradation of 4-nitrophenol using the Fenton process(2000) ;Ma, YS ;Huang, ST ;Lin, JG ;環境工程研究所Institute of Environmental EngineeringIn this study, The Fenton process was applied as a pretreatment method to treat industrial wastewater containing 4-nitrophenol (4-NP). The effect of oxidant dosages on the decomposition of 4-NP and the reaction kinetics were investigated. More than 99% of 4-NP was readily decomposed when the reaction was carried out at oxidant concentrations of 5 mM H2O2 and 5 mg/L Fe2+ for 2 hours. The total nitrogenous compounds and the nitrogen gas evolved, accounted for 88% of the initial nitrogen concentration. However, the maximum DOC removal efficiency was 30.6%; and only 1/3 of 4-NP was mineralized to carbon dioxide by the Fenton process. 4-NP degradation profiles fitted well into a pseudo first-order kinetic equation; degradation rate constant (min(-1)) of 4-NP increased from 4.3x10(-3) to 66.1x10(-3) With increasing dosages of H2O2 and Fe2+. In addition, the t value was calculated for studying the significance of simulation by the t-test. It was found that the t value was greater than the value for 99% confidence. This result suggested that the 4-NP decomposition profile could be described by the pseudo first-order kinetic equation. Biodegradability of 4-NP before and after the reaction was 0.018 and 0.594, respectively.Item type:Item, Experience in building a real-time extension library for Java(2002-11-01) ;Chiao, HT ;Kao, SHJ ;Chang, YS ;Huang, STYuan, SMFor building real-time control programs on PC controllers, we designed and implemented a real-time extension library to enhance the Java virtual machine that was already available in the real-time operating system we used. The drive and response systems become asymptotically synchronized if an FM signal is added to the drive system. The FM signal can be detected when the drive and response systems are strongly coupled.Item type:Item, Subcarrier multiplexing by chaotic multitone modulation(2003-10-01) ;Juang, C ;Huang, ST ;Liu, CY ;Wang, WCHwang, TMSubcarrier multiplexing by chaotic multitone modulation is investigated. Optical chaotic light can be achieved by injecting multiple subcarriers into a self-pulsating laser diode. Synchronization between two identical chaotic systems (drive and response) can be implemented provided that the conditional Lyapunov exponents are all negative. By adding amplitude modulation (AM) signals to each subcarrier, the two systems become asymptotically synchronized. The AM signals in each subcarrier can be recovered by the introduction of a filtering process where the Lyapunov exponent of the synchronized error function matches the cutoff frequency of a first order low pass filter.
