Item type:Item, Automatic Co-Registration of Optical Satellite Images and Airborne Lidar Data Using Relative and Absolute Orientations(2013-10-01) ;Teo, Tee-Ann ;Huang, Shih-Han ;土木工程學系Department of Civil EngineeringCo-registration of 2-D images and 3-D lidar points in a common area is an important task in data fusion as well as other applications. As the information acquired by image and lidar systems are not the same, the registration of heterogeneous sensors is a challenging issue. The objective of this study is to perform the co-registration of 2-D images and 3-D lidar points using relative and absolute orientations. The proposed method performs image matching between stereo images for relative orientation modeling and generates a matched 3-D surface model. Then, an automatic least squares 3-D surface matching is applied between matched 3-D surface model and lidar 3-D points. Finally, the precise object-to-image transformation and orthoimages can be generated via relative and absolute transformation. The test data include WorldView-2 image, QuickBird image and lidar data. The experimental results indicate that the relative orientation may reach subpixel accuracy while the absolute orientation may reach 1 pixel accuracy. Moreover, the geometric consistency between orthoimages is better than 0.5 m on the ground.Item type:Item, Band alignment tuning of InAs quantum dots with a thin AlGaAsSb capping layer(2013-04-29) ;Liao, Yu-An ;Hsu, Wei-Ting ;Huang, Shih-Han ;Chiu, Pei-ChinChyi, Jen-InnWe investigate the optical properties of InAs quantum dots (QDs) capped with a thin AlxGa1-xAsSb layer. As evidenced from power-dependent and time-resolved photoluminescence (PL) measurements, the GaAsSb-capped QDs with type-II band alignment can be changed to type-I by adding Al into the GaAsSb capping layer. The evolution of band alignment with the Al content in the AlGaAsSb capping layer has also been confirmed by theoretical calculations based on 8-band k . p model. The PL thermal stability and the room temperature PL efficiency are also improved by AlGaAsSb capping. We demonstrate that using the quaternary AlGaAsSb can take the advantages of GaAsSb capping layer on the InAs QDs while retaining a type-I band alignment for applications in long-wavelength light emitters. We report the first round-robin interlaboratory study of performance measurement for dye-sensitized photovoltaics (cells and mini-modules) and one silicon solar cell under a fluorescent dim light. Among 15 research groups, the relative deviation in power conversion efficiency (PCE) of the samples reaches an unprecedented 152%. On the basis of the comprehensive results, the gap between photometry and radiometry measurements and the response of devices to the dim illumination are identified as critical obstacles to the correct PCE. Therefore, we use an illuminometer as a prime standard with a spectroradiometer to quantify the intensity of indoor lighting and adopt the reverse-biased current voltage (I-V) characteristics as an indicator to qualify the I-V sampling time for dye-sensitized photovoltaics. The recommendations can brighten the prospects of emerging photovoltaics for indoor applications.Item type:Item, Surface-Based Registration of Airborne and Terrestrial Mobile LiDAR Point Clouds(2014-12-01) ;Teo, Tee-Ann ;Huang, Shih-Han ;土木工程學系Department of Civil EngineeringLight Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) is an active sensor that can effectively acquire a large number of three-dimensional (3-D) points. LiDAR systems can be equipped on different platforms for different applications, but to integrate the data, point cloud registration is needed to improve geometric consistency. The registration of airborne and terrestrial mobile LiDAR is a challenging task because the point densities and scanning directions differ. We proposed a scheme for the registration of airborne and terrestrial mobile LiDAR using the least squares 3-D surface registration technique to minimize the surfaces between two datasets. To analyze the effect of point density in registration, the simulation data simulated different conditions and estimated the theoretical errors. The test data were the point clouds of the airborne LiDAR system (ALS) and the mobile LiDAR system (MLS), which were acquired by Optech ALTM 3070 and Lynx, respectively. The resulting simulation analysis indicated that the accuracy of registration improved as the density increased. For the test dataset, the registration error of mobile LiDAR between different trajectories improved from 40 cm to 4 cm, and the registration error between ALS and MLS improved from 84 cm to 4 cm. These results indicate that the proposed methods can obtain 5 cm accuracy between ALS and MLS.Item type:Item, The potential of lactulose and melibiose, two novel trehalase-indigestible and autophagy-inducing disaccharides, for polyQ-mediated neurodegenerative disease treatment(2015-05-01) ;Lee, Guan-Chiun ;Lin, Chih-Hsin ;Tao, Yu-Chen ;Yang, Jinn-MoonHsu, Kai-ChengThe unique property of trehalose encourages its pharmaceutical application in aggregation-mediated neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer\'s, Parkinson\'s, and many polyglutamine (polyQ)-mediated diseases. However, trehalose is digested into glucose by trehalase and which reduced its efficacy in the disease target tissues. Therefore, searching trehalase-indigestible analogs of trehalose is a potential strategy to enhance therapeutic effect. In this study, two trehalase-indigestible trehalose analogs, lactulose and melibiose, were selected through compound topology and functional group analyses. Hydrogen-bonding network analyses suggest that the elimination of the hydrogen bond between the linker ether and aspartate 321 (D321) of human trehalase is the key for lactulose and melibiose to avoid the hydrolyzation. Using polyQ-mediated spinocerebellar ataxia type 17 (SCA17) cell and slice cultures, we found the aggregation was significantly prohibited by trehalose, lactulose, and melibiose, which may through up-regulating of autophagy. These findings suggest the therapeutic applications of trehalase-indigestible trehalose analogs in aggregation-associated neurodegenerative diseases. (C) 2015 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
