Item type:Item, Enhanced light out-coupling efficiency of organic light-emitting diodes with self-organized microlens arrays(2006-10-01) ;Huang, Wen-Kuei ;Wang, Wen-Sheng ;Kan, Hui-Chun ;Chen, Fang-Chung光電工程學系A,method for enhancing the light out-coupling efficiency of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) by incorporating microlens arrays (MLAs) is demonstrated. MLAs made of prepolymer NOA65 were fabricated on a substrate prepatterned by the microcontact printing of hydrophobic self-assembled monolayers (SAMs). Owing to the hydrophobic effect, the lens material was self-organized on the hydrophilic regions. After assembling the MLA onto an OLED, the optical measurement showed that the light out-coupling efficiency of the OLED with MLAs is increased without any apparent color shift.Item type:Item, Self-organization of microlens arrays caused by the spin-coating-assisted hydrophobic effect(2006-11-01) ;Chen, Fang-Chung ;Huang, Wen-Kuei ;Ko, Chu-Jung ;光電工程學系顯示科技研究所A simple, low-cost, low-temperature, and shape-controllable approach has been demonstrated to fabricate polymer microlens arrays (MLAs). By using microcontact printing of the self-assembled monolayers and then spin coating, the microlenses were able to organize themselves on the patterned glass substrate. High-quality MLAs made of NOA65 prepolymer with lens-diameters of 50, 75, and 100 pm have been fabricated by this method. Lens shapes can be controlled by changing the spin rates of the prepolymer coating. Optical measurements have revealed an excellent light-collecting capability from the fabricated MLAs. It is anticipated that the technique will be ideally suited to low-cost and high-volume production.Item type:Item, Self-positioning microlens arrays prepared using ink-jet printing(2009-07-01) ;Lu, Jhih-Ping ;Huang, Wen-Kuei ;Chen, Fang-Chung ;光電工程學系顯示科技研究所We have employed ink-jet printing (IJP) technology to fabricate self-positioning microlens arrays (MLAs). The glass substrates were first prepatterned through microcontact printing (mu CP) hydrophobic self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) to divide the surface into hydrophobic and hydrophilic regions. After IJP of the hydrophilic prepolymer liquids, the lenses were effectively repelled by the patterned SAMs. We obtained high-quality MLAs having diameters of 75 and 100 mu m after polymerization of the prepolymers. The lenses' shapes could be controlled by varying the number of printed droplets. (C) 2009 Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers. [DOI:10.1117/1.3180868]
