Item type:Item, 3D Air-Touch User Interface With High Touch Accuracy on Stereoscopic Displays(2016-05) ;Ting, Chih-Hung ;Jen, Tai-Hsiang ;Chen, Chun-Ho ;Shieh, Han-Ping D.Huang, Yi-PaiTo interact with stereoscopic images through 3D air-touch technology, the depth information for a touched 3D virtual object and the fingertip position should be aligned accurately. However, the fused 3D position is affected when the virtual object is blocked by the fingertip. Additionally, the 3D image with a large disparity decreases 3D touch accuracy. In order to improve the touch accuracy, virtual references and 3D image feedback were introduced respectively, and the touch accuracy was more than 90% based on a human interaction experiment.Item type:Item, Dynamic integral imaging display with electrically moving array lenslet technique using liquid crystal lens(2015-07-13) ;Jen, Tai-Hsiang ;Shen, Xin ;Yao, Gang ;Huang, Yi-PaiShieh, Han-Ping D.Integral imaging (InIm) has been widely investigated for threedimensional (3-D) display applications. Aliasing due to the lenslet arrays is one of the limitations of InIm displays. In this paper, we propose a dynamic InIm display using electrically movable liquid crystal (LC) lens array to implement the moving array lenslet technique (MALT) and to eliminate the multifacet phenomenon in the 3-D images. The improvement of the viewing quality of dynamic InIm display is experimentally verified. Using high-resistance layers in an LC cell, a gradient electric-field distribution can be formed, which can provide a better lens-like shape of the refractive-index distribution. The advantages of the Hi-R LC lens array are its 2D/3D switchability, rotatability (in the horizontal and vertical directions), low driving voltage (similar to 2 volts) and fast response (similar to 0.6 second). In addition, the Hi-R LC lens array requires only a very simple fabrication process. It uses circular curved electrodes to provide a smooth, controllable applied potential profile across the aperture to manage the phase profile.Item type:Item, Locally Controllable Liquid Crystal Lens Array for Partially Switchable 2D/3D Display(2015-10-01) ;Jen, Tai-Hsiang ;Chang, Yu-Cheng ;Ting, Chih-Hung ;Shieh, Han-Ping D.Huang, Yi-PaiIn this paper, we present a locally controllable liquid crystal lens array for a partially switchable 2D/3D display, from which 2D images without resolution degradation and 3D images can simultaneously emerge. The liquid crystal (LC) lens has the advantages of low driving voltages (<6 V-rms) and a simple structure for which the fabrication only requires two photolithography processes. A partial lens array can be formed arbitrarily using a passive driving method. Finally, we demonstrate a 3.5-in partially switchable 2D/3D display that can present partial 3D images with 10.8% crosstalk and partial 2D images without resolution degradation.
