Item type:Item, Compositional and functional variations of oral microbiota associated with the mutational changes in oral cancer(2018-02-01) ;Yang, Shun-Fa ;Huang, Hsien-Da ;Fan, Wen-Lang ;Jong, Yuh-JyhChen, Mu-KuanObjectives: Both genetic and environmental factors are conceivably required to assess the prognosis of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), yet little is known regarding the relationship between oral microbiome and the mutational spectrum of OSCC. Materials and methods: Here, we used 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing to study the composition of oral microorganisms in OSCC patients, whose cancer mutational profiles were previously defined by whole-exome sequencing, to evaluate the relationship between oral microbiome and the mutational changes in OSCC. Results: Analyzing the contributions of the five mutational signatures extracted from the primary tumors revealed three groups of OSCC (mutational signature cluster, MSC1-3) that were significantly associated with demographic and clinical features. Taxonomic analysis of the predominant phyla in salivary samples showed variation in the relative abundance of Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes in the three MSC groups. In addition, significant differences in bacterial species richness (alpha diversity) and slight sample-to-sample dissimilarities in bacterial community structures (beta diversity) were noted among different MSC groups. Further, predicting the functional capabilities of microbial communities by reconstruction of unobserved states showed that many pathways related to cell motility were differentially enriched among the three MSC groups. Conclusion: Collectively, these results indicate a potential association of oral microbiome with the mutational changes in OSCC.Item type:Item, Enhancing the Interaction between High-Refractive Index Nanoparticles and Gold Film Substrates Based on Oblique Incidence Excitation(2016-10-01) ;Kuo, Yu-Lun ;Chuang, Shih-Yi ;Chen, Shiuan-Yeh ;Chen, Kuo-Ping照明與能源光電研究所We investigate the coupling of dipole resonances induced in a heteromaterial system composed of a high-refractive-index nanoparticle and a highly reflective substrate. A broad scattering signal and strong electric nearfield enhancement in the near-infrared region are generated by a hybrid Si nanoparticle on a gold-film system under oblique illumination. Dark-field microscopy investigations of the scattering signal measurement reveal the resonance shifts of the dipole mode of silicon nanoparticles on gold films. Further, the scattering signal is enhanced for p-polarized illumination in the near-infrared region. The results indicate that the coupling of Si nanoparticles on a gold-film system facilitates a possible application for both surface-enhanced fluorescence and surface-enhanced Raman scattering.Item type:Item, High Sensitivity Dark Mode Plasmonic Resonance of Gold Nanoantennas Arrays in Evanescent Waves(2015) ;Chen, Kuo-Ping ;Chen, Yi-Hsun ;Kuo, Yu-Lun ;Yang, Zhen-hongChang, Che-YuanPlasmonic dark modes of gold nanoantennas are observed in evanescent waves. Comparing with the bright mode for normal incidence of nanoantennas, dark mode resonance not only has a higher extinction coefficient but also achieves higher sensitivity to the surrounding environment. The sensitivity of the dark mode of gold nanoantenna is 4.84 times that of the bright mode in terms of the figure of merit.Item type:Item, Hybridization models of gold nanoantennas arrays in polarization dependent evanescent waves(2015-01-01) ;Chen, Kuo-Ping ;Chen, Yi-Hsun ;Chang, Che-Yuan ;Kuo, Yu-LunYang, Zhen-hongThe plasmonic coupling of nanoantennas could be explained by the plasmon hybridization model introduced. For symmetric nanoparticles pairs, the coupled mode can be shifted to higher or lower frequencies, depending on the phase of the fields from each nanoparticle. In p-polarization, the in-phase response is called bonding mode and out of phase response is called antibonding mode, which are analogous to the molecular orbital theory. The bonding mode, located at a lower energy level, could be strongly excited by normal incidence, but antibonding mode, located at a higher energy level, could hardly excited by normal incident plane wave and which is not easy to be observed. In literatures, the antibonding mode could only be excited by highly focused laser beams, the radiation from a local emitter, and the evanescent field produced by total internal reflection9. Although the observation is not easy, the antibonding mode has brought a lot of attention because of the slower radiative decay and narrower linewidths. However, there are not many researches discussing the sensor application of the plasmonic antibonding mode of nanoantenans arrays. In this work, gold nanoantennas antibonding mode in TM and TE polarized evanescent field is investigated and the sensitivity to the refractive index change of surrounding medium is compared to bonding mode in normal incidence. Furthermore, in normal incidence, due to the impedance mismatch between the dielectric and substrate, strong reflectance happens at the resonance in bonding mode which could reduce the coupling efficiency. In order to achieve higher energy coupling efficiency, total internal reflection could be used to minimize the impedance mismatch and transfer the input energy into antibonding mode plasmonic resonance.
