Item type:Item, A 2-STAGE FEATURE-BASED DESIGN SYSTEM(1991-01-01) ;LI, RK ;TAUR, BW ;SHYUR, HJ ;交大名義發表工業工程與管理學系Part feature information is used to bridge the gap between design and manufacturing. Several approaches have been used to provide feature information from the CAD system. Of these, the feature-based design system is superior. However, feature information created by the system is limited to feature commands; the system is designed to be independent of the existing CAD system. Here, a two-state feature-based design (primitive design and feature design) concept is proposed. Using this, a designer can take full advantage of the CAD system and the feature-based design concept. A prototype system embedded in AUTOCAD is developed to test the success of the concept. Input is design intention, while outputs are the part's orthographic 3-view, IGES file, and feature information. Features created in the paper are classified into: pre-defined features, base features, combined features and irregular features. The last three types are not pre-defined; they are extracted and derived during the design cycle. The algorithm for extraction and derivation is developed and discussed.Item type:Item, A DGR METHOD FOR EXTRACTING THE TOPOLOGY OF AN UPPER-HALF PROFILE OF A TURNED PART FROM CAD DATA(1991-01-01) ;CHEN, SL ;CHEN, Z ;LI, RK ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceFor a symmetrical turned part, a 2D upper-half profile is usually the input for planning functions such as turning feature extraction, process planning, and NC code generation. Current approaches to extract the topology of an upper-half profile from 2D CAD engineering drawings are heuristic and have limitations. In this paper, the drawing view cluster method and Drawing Graph Representation (DGR) method are proposed. The former has been developed to cluster front view entities into groups if the input to the activity is more than one view. Using the DGR, rules are developed to identify internal entities, external entities, types of internal profile and possible redundant entities. An example is evaluated to demonstrate the methods.Item type:Item, A FRAMEWORK FOR AUTOMATIC DFA SYSTEM-DEVELOPMENT(1992-10-01) ;LI, RK ;HWANG, CL ;交大名義發表 ;工業工程與管理學系National Chiao Tung UniversityDesign for assembly (DFA) evaluation has proved to be a systematic approach in determining how well a product is designed from an assembly point of view. Proposed here is a framework for automating DFA evaluation procedure, a key step in achieving a concurrent design environment. Five modules required for this development are: assembly sequence generation; assembly features extraction; assembly code and other necessary operations generation; data manipulation and computation; and re-design suggestion. Partial implementation (linking DFA evaluation procedure with a feature based CAD system) of the framework is also presented.Item type:Item, A FRAMEWORK FOR PRISMATIC PART-DATA GENERATION - UNIT-MACHINED LOOP CONCEPT(1990-03-01) ;LI, RK ;YU, MH ;交大名義發表 ;工業工程與管理學系National Chiao Tung UniversityItem type:Item, A FRAMEWORK FOR THE INTEGRATION OF COMPUTER-AIDED-DESIGN AND COMPUTER-AIDED PROCESS PLANNING(1988) ;LI, RK ;BEDWORTH, DD ;工業工程與管理學系Department of Industrial Engineering and ManagementItem type:Item, A HEURISTIC RESCHEDULING ALGORITHM FOR COMPUTER-BASED PRODUCTION SCHEDULING SYSTEMS(1993-08-01) ;LI, RK ;SHYU, YT ;ADIGA, S ;交大名義發表工業工程與管理學系Generation of new production schedules in response to changes that take place on a factory shop-floor is a common requirement in today's complex and flexible manufacturing environment. The current approaches use either a regeneration rescheduling method, which results in unsatisfactory response times or methods that need too much manual intervention for identifying the operations to be changed. We propose a new rescheduling algorithm to address these problems. Our algorithm is based on the construction of a scheduling binary tree and a net change concept adopted from MRP system. It revises schedules by rescheduling only those operations that need to be revised. Our algorithm can be embedded in existing simulation-based scheduling systems or electronic Gantt chart approaches to improve their effectiveness.Item type:Item, A MULTIECHELON EVALUATION FRAMEWORK FOR CIM SYSTEMS-DESIGN(1994-07-01) ;LIU, MC ;TSAI, TJ ;LIANG, SK ;LI, RK工業工程與管理學系Implementing a computed integrated manufacturing (CIM) system design involves major capita] investment which must take into consideration state-of-the-art technologies and management strategies. This multi-echelon evaluation framework employs strategic planning, conceptual design, risk analysis, sensitivity analysis, simulation and the analytical hierarchical process to evaluate the CIM system design. This approach is characterized by flexibility and assessability of the iterative evaluation cycles, subjective utility functions of decision makers, and simulation for risk analysis at different stages of the evaluation process. It provides management with a decision support tool when considering CIM implementation. A case study is presented to demonstrate this multi-echelon evaluation framework for CIM systems design.Item type:Item, A NEW RESCHEDULING METHOD FOR COMPUTER-BASED SCHEDULING SYSTEMS(1995-08-01) ;WU, HH ;LI, RK ;工業工程與管理學系Department of Industrial Engineering and ManagementProviding a powerful interactive tool for the scheduler to quickly and easily react to the inevitable rescheduling changes is mandatory in today's complex and flexible manufacturing environment. The conventional approaches either employ the regeneration method, which results in unsatisfactory response times, or use methods that require too much manual intervention for editing operations to be changed. A new rescheduling method is proposed in this paper which addresses these problems. The fundamental scheme of this rescheduling method is based on a scheduling graph as well as concepts of time effect and relationship effect. The scheduling graph is an alternative representation structure of a schedule Gantt chart. The time effect and relationship effect provide functions of (1) identifying those operations that require revision, (2) revising those identified affected operations (via a partial change of the scheduling graph structure) and (3) updating starting and ending times of those revised operations. The rescheduling method both reduces manual intervention of rescheduling to a minimum and permits net change (opposite to regeneration) rescheduling to be achievable. This rescheduling method can be embedded in current computer assistance scheduling systems so as to enhance their effectiveness.Item type:Item, A PART-FEATURE RECOGNITION SYSTEM FOR ROTATIONAL PARTS(1988-09-01) ;LI, RK ;交大名義發表 ;工業工程與管理學系 ;National Chiao Tung UniversityDepartment of Industrial Engineering and ManagementItem type:Item, A PART-FEATURE RECOGNITION SYSTEM FOR ROTATIONAL PARTS - NON-TURNING FEATURES(1989-09-01) ;LI, RK ;HWANG, TZ ;交大名義發表 ;工業工程與管理學系National Chiao Tung UniversityItem type:Item, ASSEMBLY CODE GENERATION FROM A FEATURE-BASED GEOMETRIC MODEL(1992-03-01) ;LI, RK ;HUANG, CL ;交大名義發表 ;工業工程與管理學系National Chiao Tung UniversityDesign and implementation of a system for assembly code generation (from a feature-based geometric model) is discussed. Assembly code is further used in design for assembly evaluation procedures for produce assembly analysis. Assembly features are classified into three groups: geometric assembly features, non-geometric assembly features and operational assembly features. The first two groups of features have existed in computer-aided design databases, while the last one has existed in an assembly sequence. Algorithms for identifying the first two groups of features are presented. A tree processor to convert assembly features into assembly code is also developed. Finally, examples are presented.Item type:Item, AUTOMATIC 3D MACHINING FEATURE-EXTRACTION FROM 3D CSG SOLID INPUT(1990-06-01) ;PERNG, DB ;CHEN, Z ;LI, RK ;交大名義發表資訊科學與工程研究所Item type:Item, COMPOSITE FEATURE AND VARIATIONAL DESIGN CONCEPTS IN A FEATURE-BASED DESIGN SYSTEM(1993-07-01) ;LI, RK ;TU, YM ;YANG, TH ;交大名義發表工業工程與管理學系feature commands creation and variational design capability. This, however, has not been found and feature modification is still necessary. A feature modification framework is proposed in this paper for bridging the gap between the design features and machining features. Feature modification algorithms were also developed for the foundation of the framework. A prototype system is presented and illustrated by an explanation of how the feature modification concept could function in a real situation.Item type:Item, MACHINABLE VOLUMES EXTRACTION - NON-BLOCK TYPE RAW-MATERIAL INPUT(1991-07-01) ;LI, RK ;TZIENG, SD ;工業工程與管理學系Department of Industrial Engineering and ManagementA method for automatically extracting machinable volumes by considering non-blank type raw material input is proposed. The method takes CSG input (both raw material and finished part) and determine relative shifting origins of the finished part to ensure its machinability. CSG to DSG transformation is performed to extract DSG primitives of raw material and finished part. Both DSG primitives are mapped to find removing volumes based on geometrical definition. The geometrical definition removing volumes are further reorganized into a set of machinable volumes by considering the influence of process information. A prototype system to implement the method is developed on a SUN/260 computer system. An example is evaluated to demonstrate the success of the system.
