First, we construct graphs from characters. The attributes (vertical lines, horizontal lines or points) of each node in the graph are determined according to the node's relationship to the nodes above and below it (we will refer to these relationships as global features) and the black runs within the node. Intersections between two adjacent segments are determined on the basis of the graph constructed and contour information. The thinning algorithm thus employs global features and contour information to produce a more accurate skeleton.Item type:Item, A MATHEMATICAL-MODEL FOR THE TOOTH GEOMETRY OF HYPOID GEARS(1993-07-01) ;TSAY, CB ;LIN, JY ;交大名義發表 ;機械工程學系National Chiao Tung UniversityA mathematical model of the circular-cut hypoid gear set has been developed herein to represent the tooth surface geometry of hypoid gears. It can be applied to simulate the tooth profiles manufactured by the Duplex Method, Helical Duplex Method, and Formate Method. By applying the computer graphics and the proposed mathematical model, the profile of the hypoid gear and the precision coordinates of any tooth surface point can be obtained. The coordinates of the tooth surface can be considered as the standard for checking the profile precision of the actual products. The proposed mathematical model of the hypoid gear can also be applied to the computer numerical controlled (CNC) machining, tooth contact analysis (TCA), and finite element stress analysis.Item type:Item, A SIMPLE VISION ALGORITHM FOR 3-D POSITION DETERMINATION USING A SINGLE CALIBRATION OBJECT(1989) ;CHEN, Z ;TSENG, DC ;LIN, JY ;交大名義發表資訊工程學系Item type:Item, ADAPTIVE NONLINEAR DECISION-FEEDBACK EQUALIZATION WITH CHANNEL ESTIMATION AND TIMING RECOVERY IN DIGITAL MAGNETIC RECORDING-SYSTEMS(1995-03-01) ;LIN, JY ;WEI, CH ;電控工程研究所 ;電信研究中心Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringIn high density digital magnetic recording systems, the nonlinear effects in the write process appear in the readback waveform as shifts in the peak positions and changes in the amplitude, The pulse shift causes a nonlinear intersymbol interference (ISI) on the readback signal, In this paper, a Volterra-DFE, in which a Volterra filter is used in the feedback section of decision feedback structure, is proposed to equalize the nonlinear ISI, By theoretical analysis, the minimum mean squared error (MSE) of the Volterra-DFE is found to be a function of sampling phase. This will affect the output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the playback system, A baud-rate timing recovery system in conjunction with channel estimator is used to operate the sampling clock on the optimum phase, By computer simulation, Volterra-DFE is found to outperform conventional DFE in both output SNR and BER in a high density magnetic recording system.Item type:Item, ADAPTIVE VOLTERRA-DFE AND TIMING RECOVERY IN DIGITAL MAGNETIC RECORDING SYSTEM(1994) ;LIN, JY ;WEI, CH ;電控工程研究所Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringItem type:Item, FAST TIMING RECOVERY SCHEME FOR CLASS-IV PARTIAL-RESPONSE CHANNELS(1995-02-02) ;LIN, JY ;WEI, CH ;電控工程研究所 ;電信研究中心Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringA timing recovery scheme with fast acquisition is proposed for a class IV partial response (PR-IV) magnetic recording system. The time information is obtained directly from the coefficients of the channel estimator. For initial adjustment of the time phase, a known preamble is sent ahead of the user data and a modified threshold decision is employed to avoid the hangup effect.
