Item type:Item, A 0.22nJ/b/iter 0.13 mu m turbo decoder chip using inter-block permutation interleaver(2007) ;Wong, Cheng-Chi ;Tang, Cheng-Hao ;Lai, Ming-Wei ;Zheng, Yan-XiuLin, Chien-ChingThis paper presents a high speed turbo decoder containing 32 MAP decoders with a inter-block permutation interleaver. The proposed butterfly network guarantees contention-free property and promises parallel processing of turbo decoder without performance degradation. In addition, our approach also features a relocated radix-2 x 2 ACS structure to reduce the critical path delay. After manufacturing by 0.13 mu m CMOS process, the test results show the energy efficiency is 0.22nJ/b/iter in the 160Mb/s data rate.Item type:Item, Diverse Presentations in Pediatric Meckel's Diverticulum: A Review of 100 Cases(2014-10-01) ;Huang, Chen-Chuan ;Lai, Ming-Wei ;Hwang, Fang-Ming ;Yeh, Yu-ChenChen, Shih-YenBackground: Our objective was to analyze demographics and characteristics of Meckel's diverticulum with different manifestations in pediatric patients. Methods: This is a retrospective study in children with symptomatic Meckel's diverticulum who underwent resection between September 1998 and October 2010. The diagnosis was confirmed by surgery and pathology. Demographic characteristics, manifestations, Meckel's scan results, surgical and histological findings were analyzed. Results: One hundred symptomatic Meckel's diverticula were identified in 74 boys and 26 girls aged from one day to 18 years old over 13 years. Depending on whether or not obstruction occurred, the patients were classified into two categories. Each category was further subdivided into two diagnostic groups: 17 intussusception and 24 non-intussusception bowel obstruction in the obstructive category and 44 gastrointestinal bleeding and 15 diverticulitis and/or perforation in the non-obstructive category. The sex discrepancy was higher in the non-obstructive category than in the obstructive category (male-to-female, 4.36 vs. 1.73, p < 0.05). Forty-one of 44 patients with gastrointestinal bleeding underwent a Meckel's scan with a high positive rate (92.7%). The ectopic tissues were identified in 73 patients and included 61 gastric type, two pancreatic type and 10 mixed type. Ectopic tissues were more prevalent in non-obstructive category (p < 0.05) with ectopic gastric tissue even more pronounced (p < 0.01). Ectopic pancreatic tissue was significantly more prevalent in intussusception (p < 0.01). Laparoscopic surgery was performed more frequently in Meckel's diverticulum with non-obstructive symptoms (p < 0.001). Conclusion: Diverse presentations in pediatric Meckel's diverticulum are affected by different ectopic tissue types and male sex. Laparoscopic surgery is widely used for children with non-obstructive symptoms. Copyright (C) 2014, Taiwan Pediatric Association. Published by Elsevier Taiwan LLC. In addition, each SISO decoder is modified to allow simultaneous execution over multiple successive trellis stages. The design issues related to the architecture with parallel high-radix SISO decoders are discussed. First, a contention-free interleaver for the hybrid parallelism is presented to overcome the complicated collision problem as well as reduce interconnection network complexity. Second, two techniques for the high-speed add-compare-select (ACS) circuits are given to lessen area overhead of the SISO decoder. Third, a modification of the processing schedule is made for higher operating efficiency. Two designs with parallel architecture have been implemented. The first design with 32 SISO decoders, each of which processes 2 symbols per cycle, has 160 Mb/s and 0.22 nJ/b/iter after measurement. The second design uses 16 SISO decoders to deal with 4 symbols per cycle and achieves 100% efficiency, leading to 1000 Mb/s and 0.15 nJ/b/iter in post-layout simulation.
